    Furthur

by TessAnnabelle on 9/21/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Absolutely wonderful concert! Great sound at the venue (Marymoore Park) and lots of room to dance. Furthur played great and even the rain didn't spoil the event!

    Seattle Furthur show was FANTASTIC!!!

by Socalbeekeeper on 9/21/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Amazing venue. There was sunshine for the first few songs, then it started to sprinkle into rain. It was a warm rain & danced in the lights from the stage. The set list was crazy good, some songs I haven't herd in many many years! :) Tickets & parking were fairly priced. I'll see you @ the next show... Santa Barbara, LA, Vegas, Red Rocks... here I come :)

    dead @ marymoor

by deadtodd on 9/21/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

This is probably the best incarnation of the dead to date. Johnny ruled the show, Bobby was throaty as usual. You just couldn't ask for a better elemental band. The venue on the other hand was a different story. After seeing the band the previous 2 nights in oregon where they started at 7pm and played untill near midnight, you could really tell that the band was playing under restrictions. It wasn't loud enough, and of course there was a cerfew. It seemed restrictive, and this band needs freedom. Great show but the venue held them back: BUMMER!

    Wet

by Oregonduckhuskie on 9/21/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

This show put the rain in "rain or shine". I would like to see this band again under better conditions. The lot was kinda dead, as might be expected.

It was a trip back to the good old days. A Dead show in the rain with warm temp and loving vibes. The best way to do this show is at an outdoor venue and I felt totally comfortable in the real weather. I'm sure that Jerry Garcia was smiling down on the whole scene-of course, his daughter was a back-up singer!

    Better than the dead

by sshh on 9/21/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Having just lost a close friend of 40 years the week of the show I did'nt think I could pull myself together emotionally and make the event. Thankfull for brother Dean, friend of Uncle Charlie, for accompaning me through those spirit lifting sets.I must say though, My tears were falling heavier than those from the sky during Death has no mercy and I know you rider. Keep pouring out your souls boys, your better than ever!

Great venue, worst weather ever for a dead show for me and yet I was prepared and so it didn't bother me. Great show, very fun, lots of rain songs, really a muddy muddy mess, hope no one got hurt and those soccer fields are now shot.

    Furthur ROCKS!

by Direwolfnick on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Absolutely fantastic performance by Furthur on Sat night. Great set list and the band is clearly loving it as well. The only bummer was that it rained from the opener all the way through the show, with a short break during halftime, but nothing seemed to dampen the passion and unbridled energy of the crowd. Furthur is the best band in the country right now.

Weir, Lesh, and singin' in the rain!

by guitar10 on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

An outstanding nite of musical entertainment was had by all who attended last Saturday nite's Further Fest at Marymoor Park in Redmond Wa. The music, tho' very familiar, as was the aroma in the air, came alive anew for a packed and in-tune audience of varying ages. Adding to the excitement of the evening and yet not dampening the anticipation of a huge event was the constant rain that fell throughout the evening. Thousands danced and swayed to the familiar musical tour while the stage lites played over the crowd and brightly highlighted the curtains of rain which demanded to be a part of the show. And mud! By the end of the nite the venue had turned into a wonderful mud bowl that threatened to place the fans rapidly on their backsides with just one errant step! And the music? As you would expect..........as with all Further shows.......presented magically as only Bob, Phil, and friends can do! I rate the show 5 stars even with the warm torrential rains. Thanks fellas........see you again soon!

    Furthur went further!

by Marc191 on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Further, on Saturday Sept 18, put on an incredible musical performance! I still can't believe I was happy to put up with the horrible rainstrom to sit through it. Jerry Garcia was surely there in spirit!

The rain was annoying after a while and would have been tolerable if they would've played more upbeat tunes. Bobby didn't sing enough in my opinion. Other than that they sounded great!

I've seen lots of Further shows recently, each one better than the last. They get tighter each time; amazing and unusual set lists. This venue was great. Super mellow - so grateful they let us hang out for a few hours after the show to come down. The security was low key, no hassle. The venue was great even in the dumping rain - muddy but what can you do? It was a bit dark though, which did make the mud a bit more treacherous. Also, next time forget the chairs on the floor. It was great to have the flooring, especially given the rain but the chairs were dangerous. People did a good job of clearing them away, being the kind deadheads we all love. Thanks Marymoor. Hope you bring them back next Summer!

    Furthur in the Rain

by Admirador7 on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Despite all hopes to the contrary, it did rain at the Furthur show at Marymoor, starting shortly after the first notes of "Mississippi Half Step" and pouring right on through the "One More Saturday Night" encore. The band was tight and relaxed at the same time, rolling through a number of unusual song choices including my first "Pride of Cucamonga" and possibly the first "SIttin' on Top of the World". Some odd choices included a mid-first set "Promised Land" (as opposed to a first set opening or closing slot) and breaking up the traditional pairings of "Fire on the Mountain" (sans "Scarlet Begonias") and " Know You Rider" (sans "China Cat Sunflower"). They even skipped the usual drums/space slot, never really venturing out into free form territory for long. But all was played well and the drenched audience including myself stayed through to the soggy end. It would have been a real blast to have had one more balmy summer evening for this, but it wasn't in the cards this time.

    Great show

by MadGreeks on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

My wife never saw any of the Dead shows so this was her first. Jerry was missed but the guitar player playing was so good it was almost like Jerry was there. Wonderful show. Too bad the rains ruined my camera otherwise I would have said it was the best! lol

    Furthur: Amazing Show!!!

by Anonymous on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

The energy of the show was absolutely amazing. It might have been a little better without the rain, but then again, that makes it even more memorable.

Furthur closest to old-time Dead show

by mduke on 9/20/10Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Of all the configurations I've seen since Garcia died, and including the last 20 or so years when he was still around, the Furthur show on Sep. 18th at Marymoor Park, Bellevue, WA, was the best so far. Despite an utterly abysmal and unrelenting downpour, I had the most fantastic time: The vocals were the best I've heard in decades, if not better, thanks to the help of the lead guitarist's uncanny vocal resemblance to Garcia (only more in tune) and the backup vocalists, including Garcia's daughter. The music was also the best, devoid of the too often plodding, slower-tempo performances that really dragged the whole vibe down in past years. The jamming/improv was stellar, with minimal noodling. I'd say Chimenti is the best keyboardist I've heard since Hornsby, and maybe in some ways better because he didn't noodle so much, instead being much more restrained and just playing where keyboards were called for, thus leaving lots of space for all the subtle things those guys do so well to really shine. (This from a long-time keyboardist who at one time knew all the changes to all the Dead tunes.) The lead guitarist did a wonderful job of playing in the Garcia style, with lots of energy and excellent pacing to gradually and wonderfully build up solos to ecstatic climaxes. Transitions including tempo and meter changes were as good as I've ever heard, too. I like Weir's group, Ratdog, but I think Phil is such a critical member in terms of driving the band to really stellar heights in their instrumental works (tended to be more up-tempo, more disciplined in their improvs). And even Weir's guitar playing seemed better than what he did in Ratdog. (This may be colored by having heard Ratdog at the Paramount, which is sonically one of the worst venues in Seattle.) Sound quality was excellent: only two things to note—(1) vocal levels were a bit low, esp. in first set, despite acknowledging those guys don't necessarily like way-out-front vocals (but this may have been a function of where we were in the audience), and (2) PA was not up to Phil's "bombs" (when he plays chords) and distorted a bit or just didn't bring across some of the timbral quality when he does those trademark bombs (well, okay, maybe he shares the trademark with Jack Casady, hah!). Really, this show was as close to a 10 as I could ever give. I would stand in the pouring rain any time to see these guys again.
