Very fun night. I saw Frank Santos Sr. in Boston 20 years ago. Frank Jr. is just as good.
My perspective is a little different. I was on stage for the entire show. I’ve never been to a hypnotist show. I was impressed.
Frank was a fun guy, but I feel that the sexual jokes were in bad taste and targeted women mostly.
Always a great time when I go out with friends and we laugh hysterically for a good hour and half straight! I highly recommend!!
Excellent night Laughed the whole night, sometimes the audience was laughing so hard you weren't able to hear everything that was being said.
He is a fantastic hypnotist entertainer! I would recommend you going if you want to laugh hysterically all throughout the show! Don't go with your parents though and get hypnotized.....one newlywed couple did that this show and I am sure the mom didn't want to see the kind of lap dance her new daughter-in-law was giving her son! LOL Priceless!
we took my mom and dad for her birthday she loved it we had a great time the volunteers were great frank santos very funny good routine
Frank was not only impressive but funny. Great time.
The show was worth the money. It was more crowded at the tables than I thought it would be. It seemed that the show could have pushed the limits a little further. The part with the penis on the guys head was too long. Would like to have seen more dancing and singing by the stage participants. I think Frank fiddling with his smart phone was annoying. Don't we see too much of that already? Overall, a good time but could be fine tuned a little more.
It was pretty good. I wish more people could've gone and it was a bit funnier but the new boyfriend liked it and we had fun.
Is hypnosis real? I don't think so-- that's my opinion-- but that's not to say the show wasn't very entertaining. In fact I'd see the show again when it comes around. I laughed out loud quite a bit. In fact I'm smiling just thinking of some of the crazy skits that went on.
I saw a deal for this on livingsocial and bought a pair of tickets for my bf and I. I didn't know what to expect as I've never been to a hypnotist show before. I'm glad I decided to go to this b/c it was hilarious. Frank Santos Jr. was funny and even though there were only a handful of people who were really under, he was able to make the show entertaining. This would be a great event to go to with anyone. Highly recommended.
It all depends on audience participation so make sure you bring your friends that are willing to volunteer to be hypnotized!
While slightly humorous, very disappointed. With an entire stage of possible contestants, he ended up with literally 5 women hypnotized. This event could have been very entertaining with more people hypnotized. Should have had men and women...given the nature of the event. I left feeling like I wish I hadn't spent the money or my time for this event.
have seen his show many times and he keeps getting better
Not earth changing but worth every bit of the money spent on tickets
Great time! Was amusing, was obvious that some volunteers were faking being hypnotized, but others it appeared to work for.
I don't typically write reviews of events, but Frank Santos, Jr.'s show was hysterical and hilarious. We laughed more than we have at any previous comedic show we've seen at the Wilbur, and we've seen a whole bunch of comics. Frank spends the first 5-10 minutes checking whether his volunteers are able to be hypnotized (if you are going with a steady girlfriend/boyfriend, force them to volunteer - it'll be worth it). Then the show begins and he gets them to do some pretty funny things, like convince them that they are certain singing artists or dancers, or getting them to go the bathroom and see something strange in their private areas. He seems to be meaner to men (in what he makes them believe) as it seems to relate to altering their private areas, and more sexual with women (as it involves making out with their significant other, or responding to sexual questions posed by the audience). But I'd definitely recommend seeing it, and although I imagine his basic act remains the same for a while, the different people who end up volunteering would make it a new experience time and time again. Highly recommended.
I attended this show with my husband and another couple. All of us laughed the entire time and talked about it through dinner, the ride home, and the next morning. My husband now wants to learn to hypnotize me!! No one in our group volunteered to participate in the hypnosis, but all of us agreed at the end of the show that we would love to go to another show and we would all volunteer the next time around! I hope that he comes back to the Boston area more often.
I went to see Frank Santos Jr. after seeing a different comic hypnotist at the DC Improv who was hilarious and a very ethical hypnotist. Frank Santos Jr.'s show was vastly different. While I was perfectly aware it was an "R" rated show, it was WAY out of line. He had girls giving lap dances to random audience members and a TEENAGE girl simulate giving a blowjob to a stranger. Under normal circumstances I'd say everyone has the freedom to do or not do what they want/don't want, but when he is hypnotizing them and making them believe they've just taken drugs/had 8 alcoholic drinks so they "loosen up"....??? it seems like he is taking advantage of their mental state. He makes the participants forget the entire show for an hour after it ends, so the audience doesn't get to see them react to what they've just done in public. My guess is that they were extremely embarrassed/humiliated. This is not an ethical way to run a hypnotist act. People can be creative and funny and even dirty and sexual, if you want an "R" rated show, but I think this guy crosses way too many lines and doesn't seem to care about establishing a line in the first place.
