About the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
There are lots of annual events out there that go back a long way, but none can hold a candle to the history that's behind the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The oldest of any continuously operating rodeo in America, it began toward the end of the 19th century, way back in 1896. Every year since then (with the exception of 1943 for WWII-related reasons), the event, also known as the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, has brought the best in rodeo entertainment and livestock exhibitions/competitions to Texas, with people traveling from all over the country to see it. Now, that's a tradition. Not surprisingly, considering its long history, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has been responsible for many innovations over the years in the presentation of rodeo, including the first indoor rodeo, and the first presentation of Brahman bull riding.
So what can you expect from the current version of an event with such a rich legacy? Well, for starters, three weeks' worth of rodeo action, of course, including the ProRodeo tournament as well as the likes of Bulls' Night Out extreme bull riding, the Best of the West ranch rodeo, the Best of Mexico Celebración and the Cowboys of Color rodeo show. But there's much more beyond that. Livestock shows include everything from cattle and goats to pigeons and poultry. There are lots of live music performances, from country to mariachi music, plus Western music and cowboy poetry. Wine and beer makers host events based around their crafts. Onsite food vendors offer no shortage of menu items to satisfy every taste. And when you patronize the rodeo, you're also supporting a nonprofit organization that's been responsible for donating huge amounts of money to foster the future of agriculture and livestock rearing.

saw the mustang magic show, boring to begin with, this was free style so it should of been better seemed like contestants weren't into it, some were just awful, saw the show for the last 4 years ,except covid year and it has gotten worse every year,,might think of new events for it or cancel it, half the stadium was empty so word is out. also prices on food and drinks, you can sheer a sheep a thousand times but you can skin him only once hot dog 7 bucks,,bbq sandwich 12,,how can a family come and eat here at these prices',i sneak in my own drinks like everyone else, get a handle on it quickly or people will be talking about the old rodeo use to be here,,,
I loved both events. the Trainers showing what they have done with their Mustangs is always amazing. both events are well worth attending! thank you for sharing these wonderful horses in your venue.
Stock show was fantastic. Rodeo, pricey, but gotta pay for that superior Dickies Arena. $10 for a beer...little crazy. Went to both Mustang shows, since the "venue"organizers have switched, prices went up. Dont like that usually get a box, but had to settle for upper level at the same price I usually pay for box. Trainers and Horses are great, only a bit disappointed in the Friday night Magic performances - not as "polished"as the "pro"shows I have seen in the past. Sat. night trainers, horses, and performances were AMAZING. I spend my Thurs/Fri./ Sat days between the mustangs and John Justin Arena. It would be great if the mini horse/mule/donkey and Mule classes were published so I can better schedule and dont miss my favorite events in those classes. Overall it was great. My favorite place to be in January!
As their tag line suggests….”This thing is Legendary” If you haven’t been to the Stock Show and Rodeo, you are truly missing a great experience!
Tickets are so expensive you can’t afford to take a family now at Dickies… I won’t be back! Rodeo is a family sport not the NFL
Our initial seats (section 208-row 1) were okay until an hour into the Best of Mexico Celebration, when an inconsiderate family sat behind us. Three kids were playing videos with the volume on full blast and kicking the backs of our seats. There is very little leg space in the upper gallery area and being in the center of the row when it was full was quite claustrophobic as well. We went to an area called ticket resolutions and they quickly reseated us. They handled the situation in a professional manner and we enjoyed the rest of the show with more leg room and without kicks to our seats and the blare of three tablets playing three different video games on full volumes directly behind us. I will not sit in the upper gallery area again. It reminded me of that one time I flew on Spirit Airlines on a full flight in a row toward the back.
This was our first time to attend the FWSSR. We enjoyed everything but the strange wild bull event! We’ve never seen anything more ridiculous!! We had expected to see regular bull riding. We did appreciate the service received by guest relations. They exchanged our tickets to handicap accessories seating.
The rodeo was amazing. The MC was outstanding, he made the experience fun as usual.
Very great service provided to accommodate our tickets for the event
It was fun. Not worth the money spent on it though. One would think with the new arena and price of tickets, it would be a WAY bigger production. Overpriced drinks. It’s fun, but not enough for me to make a reel about.
Bulls Night out is our favorite night. This year’s ticket prices seemed higher than previous years. Once there, there were a lot more empty seats than in previous years. Need to keep ticket prices down and sell out events such as BNO!
Ordered tickets online. Looked like only a few seats available but the arena had half the seats empty. Had this happen on a couple other Ticketmaster events. We went early and had a good experience with the $17 parking near the arena. We paid for “good” seats but all the action was down the arena within 30 feet of the bull chutes. Watched the jumbo screen to see what was going on. It was like watching it on tv but paying hundreds of dollars to see it. Food was overpriced and made way in advance so it was mediocre at best. Staff were all friendly. Not saying don’t go but just know what you are getting.
Look at my title! The beer is too expensive. The beer is too expensive The beer is too expensive The beer is too expensive. The beer is too expensive
Don’t purchase tickets in upper section unless you want to watch the action on the drop down monitor. It blocks the action!
Prices were too high for the preceding day’s rodeo. This event served as a consolation event to attend. The event was great but was not what my group was expecting to attend that weekend. The bullfighting bull riding, pass of death and bare horseback riding was fantastic nonetheless
It was a little cold but the show great !!!! Easy excess with the mobile tickets
It was fun. Our seats were good. The price was too expensive
I was unable to attend this event because of the weather. I am disappointed that my family could not attend. We have attended the event for the last 10 years with our grandsons and always enjoyed it.
The Dickies Arena is beautiful. One of the first thing I notice is how well it is kept, clean! Everyone there is great! Willing to help and professional.
