About the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
There are lots of annual events out there that go back a long way, but none can hold a candle to the history that's behind the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The oldest of any continuously operating rodeo in America, it began toward the end of the 19th century, way back in 1896. Every year since then (with the exception of 1943 for WWII-related reasons), the event, also known as the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, has brought the best in rodeo entertainment and livestock exhibitions/competitions to Texas, with people traveling from all over the country to see it. Now, that's a tradition. Not surprisingly, considering its long history, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has been responsible for many innovations over the years in the presentation of rodeo, including the first indoor rodeo, and the first presentation of Brahman bull riding.
So what can you expect from the current version of an event with such a rich legacy? Well, for starters, three weeks' worth of rodeo action, of course, including the ProRodeo tournament as well as the likes of Bulls' Night Out extreme bull riding, the Best of the West ranch rodeo, the Best of Mexico Celebración and the Cowboys of Color rodeo show. But there's much more beyond that. Livestock shows include everything from cattle and goats to pigeons and poultry. There are lots of live music performances, from country to mariachi music, plus Western music and cowboy poetry. Wine and beer makers host events based around their crafts. Onsite food vendors offer no shortage of menu items to satisfy every taste. And when you patronize the rodeo, you're also supporting a nonprofit organization that's been responsible for donating huge amounts of money to foster the future of agriculture and livestock rearing.

Seats were not good seats because there’s a little wall and wire in front of you and you have to sit way up on the edge of your seat to even see the arena as a whole and there were numerous seats in the middle and lower section that were empty if those seats were made more affordable, or not sold to businesses more people would’ve had enjoyable seats

Bryant, through several email correspondence sessions & Julie‘s great advice, we had an amazing time touring the vendor exhibits, viewing the livestock, and attending the rodeo semi finals. We WILL be Back!

by BC on 2/1/24Dickies Arena - Fort WorthAbsolutely legendary! Fun for all. Great food and music with a lively atmosphere. Loved watching the Red Angus and Blach Angus cattle competitions. The Rodeo at Dickies Arena is a must see. The Dickies Arena is a spotlessly clean and fairly new venue with an Art-Deco vibe. The Midway is always a fun time. Enjoyed the various Food Truck vendors.

We compared the restrooms to Buc-ee's which are well-known for their cleanliness. The parking areas were well-marked and reasonably priced. The escalators were extremely appreciated as our seats were at the very top. But the entire arena could be easily viewed and when you wanted to really zone in on something the jumbotron was in the center above all the action. The food was all good although a little pricey, especially when you have 2 pre-teen boys that are always hungry.

by Jules on 1/31/24Dickies Arena - Fort WorthThe FWSS was SOO much fun! We walked around the "fairgrounds", and went to see all the animals before the rodeo. There isn't a bad seat in the Dickies Arena. I highly recommend people of any age to go.

by Jenny817 on 1/30/24Dickies Arena - Fort WorthI love the rodeo, but cost has gotten out of hand, it was almost $200 for two tickets, $20 to park, plus $25 for popcorn, a pretzel and 1 soda...sadly, it will be our last visit for awhile until prices can come down, but they won't because they don't have too!

Lots of parking and traffic flow improvements in the immediate area. This rodeo was much faster paced, than years past, which I enjoyed. We attended on a Monday evening. There was no intermission show, which I did not miss at all. The Dickies Arena is a fabulous venue, the infrastructure control set up by FWPD was top notch. Easy in and easy out! Highly recommend.
