British-based indie rock band Foals was originally formed by Jack Bevan and Yannis Philippakis. The duo then brought in Andrew Mears, Walter Gervers and Jimmy Smith as additional members. Following the release of their first single āTry This on Your Pianoā in 2006, Mears left the group to focus on his other band, Youthmovies. The remaining members of the group continued, along with new recruit, Edwin Congreave.
The group went on to release their first two major singles in 2007 with āHummerā and āMathletics.ā Their debut album, Antidotes, was released in 2008, followed byĀ Total Life in 2010. Their most successful album is their 2013 release Holy Fire. Theyāve also released a number of EPs from their live shows, including Live At Liars Club and two performances at the iTunes Festival in 2008 and 2010. The band also recorded and released a video of their performance at the Albert Hall.
Known for their stellar live show,Ā the band has undertaken a number of tours across the world. This includes dates in 2014 in the UK and Ireland, as well as a joint tour in the US with Cage the Elephant. In 2013 they played a number of festivals, including a headline slot at Latitude Festival. The band have also received critical acclaim for their performances. In 2013 they won a Q Award for Best Live Act. The group have also received two NME nominations in the same category. During their career, Foals have been nominated twice for the Mercury Music Prize, once in 2010 for the Total Life Forever album and again in 2013 for Holy Fire. In 2010 the single āSpanish Saharaā was nominated for an Ivor Novello award. This song also took the award for Best Track at the 2011 NME Awards.
The bandās influences are extremely mixed. They include the likes of Arthur Russell, The Redneck Manifesto, Harmonia and Talking Heads. Their music has been used in a number of television series, including Entourage, Misfits, Outcasts and Skins.Ā Throughout their career, Foals have drawn massive crowds of fans, packing venues like the 9:30 Club and The Fillmore to capacity.
I have loved Foals for the past few years. Seeing them on the Life is Your tour may have cemented them as my favorite band. They couldnt do some songs because of Yannis having a vocal cord issue, and tbey still killed it. I will definitely go the next time they are back.

My first Foals show was outstanding! I am not great at describing music other than I just love theirs. His voice is unique, they play so well together. My husband likes harder rock, and they impressed him too In Degrees is one of my favorites and they kept the set with good energy. The venue is among my favorites in Phoenix, but the floor doesn't slope so tall people will definitely block your view. I would love to see them in another city sometime. I think they are worth a travel.

It is one of the best concerts I have ever been to! Foals has so many great songs (especially "My Number" and "Mountain At My Gates") and they sound great live! Definitely check them out the next time they come into your city!

My friend and I have seen Foals twice and have not been disappointed AT ALL. Also, I have attended multiple concerts but the energy, excitement and genuinely incredible music caliber that Foals brings is unbelievable. They are the one band that I plan on seeing every time they come into Atlanta. Their sold out late night show was just off the rocks. Absolute pleasure watching them perform and Iām already excited to see them again.
First time to Center Stage theater as well as first Foals show. The venue was a perfect size. The Foals give you everything when they perform. Yannis voice was on point and his energy left the crowd in a frenzy throughout the show. At one point Yannis took his guitar up into the balcony and performed. On the way back to the stage Yannis instructed me to me so he could jump from a perch into the area I was standing. Such a fun night. My expectations for the show were far surpassed.
It was a great venue for a concert as the visibility and sound were super. Always love Yannis being able to come off the stage and into the audience!
Probably one of the best Concerts ive been to. This band is great but theyāre even better live, Very Interactive with the Fans too. All in all great performance by them. Hoping they come back too Columbus ASAP!
You like rock, a Foals concert should be in your bucket list! The Bluestones were amazing too, they have so much energy!

While there are songs I wished were on the setlist, the ones they did play were conducive to an energetic live show. Great crowd interaction.

This was an event for CD102.5 Day so there were several bands that played before Foals. The third opener, The Blue Stones, were fantastic and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to hear them. I'm a new fan. Three opening bands was a lot but Foals made it totally worth the wait. They ROCKED the house. It was a good mix of old and new - I was really happy to hear Black Gold from Total Life Forever. Absolutely amazing show.
The Foals show at The Fillmore in Philly was awesome. Just awesome. Played a lot of old stuff including some songs not played in a while. the band was rockin'! Took my nephew for his first time seeing them and he is now hooked. Great show guys. Sorry about the tooth deal Yannis!! I know a good dentist though.
The Foals show was the best of my life and I attend live shows frequently. The Filmore was a great venue.
