About

Following the release of the much-acclaimed EP Who We Are in 2013, alternative rock group Flyleaf announced its intention to return with a full-length album in 2014. The sheer energy and haunting lyricism of the album echoed qualities of past Flyleaf tours, in which the band fused a unique melodic element with a hard rock feel. Flyleaf’s energetic presence on stage is contagious with guitarists Jared Hartmann and Sameer Bhattacharya dancing as they strum. The release of Who We Are marked the first major achievements since the step-down of original lead vocalist Lacey Sturm. Immediately following Sturm's departure, new female vocalist Kristen May impressed with her stunning voice and obvious passion, qualities essential in assisting the entire band in the lead-up to its first Kristen May-focused album and associated tour.
Flyleaf began as Passerby, a collaboration between Lacey Sturm and James Culpepper. After joining forces with Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, the group performed in concerts throughout Texas, eliciting the majority of their ticket purchases from Christian fans bored with the traditional religious music scene. Even with clear demographic trends and frequent allusions to faith in their lyrics, members of Flyleaf refer to themselves not as a Christian rock band, but as members of a rock band who happen to be Christians. Since christening itself Flyleaf in 2004, the band has experienced success in the mainstream music industry, most notably landing on Top 40 radio stations with the single "All Around Me." Subsequent successes have included the release of a second full-length album, Memento Mori, as well as headlining the 2010 Unite & Fight Tour. The band may see a future transition into a less faith-based approach, as Kristen May expressed a desire to take a different route in the 2014 tour.

Flyleaf puts on a great show.

    by Justin1996 on 2/11/15Chameleon Club - Lancaster

Fit for Rivals were amazing I don't know what it was about them but it just hit me, and I can't stop listening to them. Framing Hanley was great as well , couldn't ask for more. But for the 3rd act Adelitas Way, all I heard was feedback their entire set which was way too long, I couldn't wait for it to be over! But Flyleaf saved the night with an amazing performance!

    All the bands killed it!

by countryboy91 on 2/10/15Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton Park

Went to see primarily Fit For Rivals and I was not disappointed. They were awesome right from their set down to meeting them in person and chatting for a few minutes! Adelitas Way was awesome as well and they just rocked it out! Framing Hanley sounded awesome and I thought their live show was better than their albums. Flyleaf I was on the fence about with their new lead singer but I think she did a great job and I still love them live. Second time seeing them!!

    Great Groups!

by loghome24 on 2/9/15Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton Park

Adelitas Way, and Framing Hanley, were excellent. Flyleaf was good, but I find that they're actually better in the studio. But I did love their merch table.

    Had (past tense) reservations

by Sweetness34 on 11/9/14House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

Okay, so I have liked Flyleaf for quite a while but for some reason had doubts about how they would be live. Well, those doubts are now totally gone. They were awesome and played / performed with so much emotion it was great. They had a good connection with the (way to small) audience and I was totally touched. I am so glad I went.

by Tiffanyinmakeupland on 11/9/14House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

I have wanted to see Flyleaf forever, but wasn't able to until now. The wait was definitely worth it. The show was jammed packed with energy and was perfect. They played a lot of new songs as well as old ones. They are uh-mazing live and I definitely recommend seeing them in concert.

    Flyleaf was amazing

by Mrskirby on 10/21/14Gramercy Theatre - New York

The venue was awesome, it had character and was small so the concert felt intimate. The bands were so close no matter where you were. Flyleaf owned it. They did so well, the new singer was so awesome. She jumped in the crowd to sing a song with us, and crowd surfed on another song, she was real confident and genuine feeling. The lyrics are so passionate and impactful making the concert more than just a concert. It was rad, simply put.

    Flyleaf is a great band!!!

by Lts15 on 10/20/14Gramercy Theatre - New York

Flyleaf put on a great show! I am a long time fan and while the band's music has changed a bit, their performances have as much energy as ever. They were also very nice people as they did a free meet and greet after the show.

    good but too short

by xxunknownproductivity on 6/8/11el rey theatre - los angeles

The show was acceptable the lead singer does have an amazing voice and the band sounds fairly good. One of the problems ws that they had to connection whatsover with the audience. Seriosuly, they could have been reharsing. Also the show lasted like 40 minutes and then they were gone. At least i got to meet Lacey and she was nice. Bottom line concert good, lenght bad!

    AWESOME

    by Jen7979 on 6/2/11Sokol Hall - Omaha

I had to write a review to explain how AWESOME Flyelaf is after seeing the previous review...They are not only talented but the fact that they share the gospel inspires me. They led me back into my faith and i will alway support this group. Lacey's voice is so beautiful and the holy spirit reaches out at every performance. There is no other group like them.

    I walked out

by Kytch on 5/19/11Gator's Bar & Grill - Farmington

The sound quality was terrible, the lead singer's voice was even more high pitch than she sounds on the radio making it painful to the ears, and she kept preaching to the audience and telling stories of god (I go to a concert for music, not to be preached to). I've been to a lot of concerts in my life and this is among the few I walked out on.

show was ok, except I could not hear lacey anytime the bad was playing, which pretty much ruined the show considering her voice is what makes the band what it is.

I took my 10 yr old son and he enjoyed every minute and he now wants the cds for story of the year. Took pictures with flyleaf band members, and they took time to talk to my son for awhile. I will deffinetly be going to more shows just as soon as the schedule is released.

by whitehatFS on 10/29/10AT&T Center - San Antonio

It all started off with an amazing performance by Story of the Year. The hairy guy with lotion was crazy but made the concert that much better. Those guys know how to rock HARD. Glad i got to see flyleaf again. i saw them back in may when i was living in omaha. They always put on a great show and lacey mosely always gives great advice during her concerts. How he loves us was the perfect ending to the concert. Hope to see you guys soon.

    Amazing Show

by Josh810 on 10/28/10AT&T Center - San Antonio

The openers, Story of the Year, had more energy than I've ever seen from any band and good music. They were very entertaining and a nice band to have opening to warm the crowd up. Flyleaf was spot on and played a great set; Lacey had some touching words and interacted with the crowd quite a bit. Not to mention she sounded as great as usual. I loved the show and will see them again once they're back in Texas!
