Great Music, Awesome Hall, Entertaining Conductor & Singer. Really inspired me to introduce my children to this music as Mr Lippia encouraged.

The violinist was outstanding
by StPetenewbie on 11/15/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5This was my first time at the Mahaffey as well as hearing the Florida Orchestra, but it will not be my last. Beautiful setting, outstanding music, and an ultra-talented young violinist.
Lighthearted, fun show
by s0nnia on 11/7/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5Great music! Fun performances from the Cirque folks. No major stage props, just the performers, some small props such as ropes, hoops or juggling pins, and other fun items. Overall the performance was great fun.

Fantastic! A great reading of the Mahler's Symphony No. 7. If anything the trumpet was a little to big..
florida orch was thrilling
by mainst on 10/22/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5A powerful piece of music that these performers were up to. It was exciting and the voices and music was outstanding. This is one of my favorite pieces of music, I have heard it performed many times. i think this is the best I have ever heard. With over two hundred voices singing, to get them all on the same note for an hour was truly an amazing feat. The only ham in the entire evening was the baritone. I liked the show so much in Tampa I went home and bought tickets for the next performance in St Pete's. In Tampa he acted drunk and knocked over a chair. In St. Pete's he drank a glass of water through the Tenor's only time in the entire piece and was so distracting I felt he was very unprofessional. When it was the soprono's time she was smart enough to stand in front of him while he rubbred his face and stretched his neck. What a diva. That aside I intend to buy tickets for all of the Florida Orch' performances. So should you.

One of the greatest creative things a human being has ever done, wonderfully performed by the Florida Orchestra!
AWESOME!!!!!!!
by dawn2dust4u2 on 1/31/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5I love going to the hear the Florida Orchestra and I thought the music was amazing. I took my best friend, which was the first time she has ever been to hear classical music, and the look of awe on her face said as much as I felt for the musical piece being played. I definitely love the performing arts and the Mahaffey Theater is gorgeous. I will gladly tell everyone about the great experiences I have had there and encourage everyone to experience it at leat once in their lifetime. This says alot as this is not the form of music I listen to as I do love my heavy metal but I really enjoy listening to Classical music since the first time my mother in law took me to my first classical concert.
Excellent Performance!
by MCTB on 1/9/11Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5This performance was wonderful! They slipped in 3 suprise selections. One of them wound up being my favorite (Shostakovich's 2nd Waltz). However, their performance in its entirety was nothing short of superb! I commend the orchestra for their extrodinary talent. Also, this show was conducted by Alastair Willis who was highly engaging and provided enlightening information about each peice throughout. Wonderful show!
Wicked Good Time
by Daytonafan on 11/29/10Progress Energy Center's Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5Great mix of Broadway tunes from All that Jazz, to Spamalot to Wicked and more. Steven Reineke and the Divas were witty as well as musically entertaining. Definitely a must see!
