About

Flogging Molly are the Celtic-punk pioneers known for frolicking barroom anthems like “Drunken Lullabies” and “Devil’s Dance Floor.” Though singer Dave King is Irish, the band made their name in the ’90s as the bar band at Molly Malone's (an Irish pub based in Los Angeles). Their breakthrough arrived in 2002 with the album Drunken Lullabies, when the title track “Drunken Lullabies” was featured in the popular video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Flogging Molly exported their raucous live show to the Vans Warped Tour between 2000 and 2009, where they became fan favorites. Touring worldwide, Flogging Molly would cement their reputation as one of the rowdiest and most passionate live bands in the world. Popular albums like Swagger (2000) and Float (2008), often defying categorization, have propelled them to sell over a million albums worldwide.

    Flogging Molly owned it!

by JustOneInTheCrowd on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

This was my first time at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA. Beautiful venue, decent staff, and the sound was better than the last place I saw Flogging Molly about three years ago. The openers were great. What they lacked in popularity, they made up for in energy. Fitz & the Tantrums have kind of a fifties revival thing going on with their sound and clothes. And Hepcat was pure ska, I mean ORIGINAL SKA (not like Mighty Mighty Bosstones or Dance Hall Crashers). Both bands great performers. Flogging Folly was so awesome! They always deliver. Just an amazing performance from start to finish and they did two encore songs!

    Flogging Molly Rocked the Fox!

I loved the show. Wish the sound was a little better so you could hear the lyrics better but it was a truly amazing show. I am glad I went.

    On fire

by voltar on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

They were as tight as I've ever seen them. The crowd was lit up and the venue was perfect for the performance. The sound was justly blistering, loved it, ready to see the again. Flogging Molly tore it up!

    wow!

Hep Cat (one of my favorite live bands) was amazing and so incredible to see at the Fox. It was a perfect venue for them and they make me smile and dance like few others. Flogging Molly ROCKED and sure did almost bring down the house! the crowd was a bit scary but as soon as I found myself away from most of the Moshers, I enjoyed myself. The Fox seems to be a venue where one has to figure out where to stand for the best sound....still very loud and echoey.

Not your best example of the genre but, a good time. Lead singer talks too much! Hepcat was amazing, as usual!
