About

Flogging Molly are the Celtic-punk pioneers known for frolicking barroom anthems like “Drunken Lullabies” and “Devil’s Dance Floor.” Though singer Dave King is Irish, the band made their name in the ’90s as the bar band at Molly Malone's (an Irish pub based in Los Angeles). Their breakthrough arrived in 2002 with the album Drunken Lullabies, when the title track “Drunken Lullabies” was featured in the popular video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Flogging Molly exported their raucous live show to the Vans Warped Tour between 2000 and 2009, where they became fan favorites. Touring worldwide, Flogging Molly would cement their reputation as one of the rowdiest and most passionate live bands in the world. Popular albums like Swagger (2000) and Float (2008), often defying categorization, have propelled them to sell over a million albums worldwide.

Flogging Molly Concert was Crazy Good!

by MimiMc on 9/13/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Wow, what a powerful and fun performance these guys put on! It was downright awesome. I got these tickets as a father's day gift for my husband, who loves Flogging Molly. I didn't become a big fan until last night, when I heard them live. Their sound is huge and I love the humor and energy they generate. The lead singer is a hoot; so damn funny. I absolutely love the (Celtic?) fiddle too. I think this band sounds even better live than they do on the CD. What an amazing band; I feel lucky that I got to see them at such a perfect venue as the Greek Theater. The setting was beautiful; the crowd was cool too. Our teenage sons were with us (father's day gift) and I was worried that it was going to be uncomfortable if people were getting too vulgar or crazy. It looked pretty raucous right down by the stage, but up a few levels, the fans were just rockin' and fun. It couldn't have been a better night. Even the parking was well orchestrated!

It was beyond my expectations. The warm up acts were great also. Even better on stage than their videos.

Disappointing for the Seasoned Molly Fan

by meljoemom on 9/13/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

As bands get more popular, the seasoned fan gets disappointed. Having seen Flogging Molly every year they come to the House of Blues in Anaheim, we didn't want to miss them this time around, even though they decided to play a much larger venue in good ole' LA - The Greek Theatre. Flogging Molly are the ever-entertaining performers, professional, yet funny, serious, yet energetic, and immensely fun to watch. The energy they exude is addictive and you can't help but bounce, sway and sing along. They are one of the best bands you will EVER see live. The downfall was having to go see them at The Greek. We've never seen Flogging Molly in a place you couldn't buy a Guinness... even at the obscene prices at the Greek Theatre. Their idea of an import for a Flogging Molly show was Heinekin. What's up with that? If they hadn't packed the cars in one behind the other, I think we would have asked for our money back and left. It made it tough not to be able to toast the band when they toasted us with THEIR Guiness, but it wouldn't have been the same with Bud Light. The sound at the Greek paled in comparison to a smaller venue. It wasn't loud enough and not near as clean as you get when in an enclosed space. Also, the play list for the evening was a bit disappointing. Yes, the usual was played - Drunken Lullabies, Rebels of the Sacred Heart, etc...., but the fillers were not the ones we'd hoped to hear. We'll probably never get to hear Delilah live again. I'll just keep praying that they'll come back to the Mouse House... and, if not.... we got to see them 5 times in the best possible surroundings. Yes, I believe we were spoiled... but all things must come to an end.

    Amazing!

by Iszy on 9/13/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

This event was the best I have been to in a long time. The theatre was very nice and clean and organized and the bands were amazing. Flogging Molly is very good live. The parking was a hassle as it always is with events such as this. I would definitely recommend both the venue and the band to anyone I knew.

by JDVP on 9/13/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Flogging Molly was amazing! It is one of the best concerts I have been to. It was my husband's first concert and he was so happy to be there; it set the bar really high. We definately have to see them again.

The group are friendly and down to earth. They put on a great show and came out for an encore. Mr. King really has a lot of energy! I went with my husband because he likes them, I enjoyed them and became a fan myself!

by FanofFM on 9/13/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

First off Fox Theater is amazing, great atmosphere, cool staff and great sound. The opening acts were so-so but Flogging Molly was absolutely jaw-dropping. Their energy is just amazing and they got the crowd into it with ease. Even came back out for a nice 2 song encore.

It was an amazing concert. Both openers were good and Flogging Molly is amazing in concert, almost sounding better then on record, in my opinion. They used a great playlist and it was an unforgettable experience.

    The Black on My Shoes

    by 24andMoretoGo on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

A sea of emotion swept the crowd even before the start of the show with chants from the crowd. As Flogging Molly entered the roar of the crowd flushed through the ear drums and into your soul connecting everyone in the room. At the same time you are pushed forward by the full house behind you reaching ever closer for the stage just to be pushed back into the sea of people ranging from the youngster at his first show to seasoned veteran in his mid thirties. With each note the crowd grew more energetic and the bonds between people became strong making us a single entity. By the end of the show we were not many people but a single unanimous being cheering for more.

    More than Irish Punk!

by heidimite on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Man, I knew I loved to listen to Flogging Molly, but there is nothing like the EXPERIENCE of Flogging Molly! The sound was big! The energy incredibly high! The chit chat low...just song after song after song, some familar, some from way back, all now favorites! The quality of the music was great and the ecclectic personalities made for fun viewing. Would I go again? You bet your Guinness I would!

    great show

by pitbullgurl on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The Fox is an amazing venue as long as you overlook the rude bartenders in the den. Despite those d-bags the event was great and as always Flogging Molly put on an excellent show!

    Flogging Molly concert-says it all.

by HugeHugeFan on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I've been a huge Flogging Molly fan since the instant I heard them, but this was my first time seeing them live. They ABSOLUTELY did not disappoint. Regarding the opening shows: I knew Hepcat was going to be golden, and I was completely pleasantly surprised by Fitz and the Tantrums. Flogging Molly is just the epitome of cool, they're rebellious, but not in an abrasive way. Just too good. SEE THEM LIVE WHENEVER YOU CAN!

    Flogging Molly mosh pit!

by NitNit on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The morning after. My feet hurts, my shoulder is blue, my throat is sore. Exactly the way it was meant to be!! Flogging Molly was amazing as always, and their acoustic version of The son never shines (on closed doors) was so beautiful.... :o)

    Flogging Molly was Awesome!

    by SuperPossum42 on 9/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I'd never seen them before, and I'd heard there's always a party atmosphere on the concert floor, and they were right. It's like one giant drunken party on the concert floor and the people thrashing by the stage were way on the ball picking up those that got knocked over, which is always a plus. I hate non-friendly mosh pits, because it's really just not safe. If you like their music, drinking, dancing, or better all of the above, a Flogging Molly concert is a must! Oh, and the Fox Theater is beautiful and they have 6 bars just on the concert floor, almost no lines for drinks and everyone was drinking!
