Floating Points took us for a trip to the deepest most intense aspects of techno. Anyone wanting an exciting sonic adventure would be well advised to look out for him to come to your area.
Best way to see music--live and intimate. These guys delivered with an amazing psychedelic electrojazz journey that had my heart singing and my mind locked into their mesmerizing waves of rhythm. So incredible how they all play so well together--excellent musicianship with the perfect amount of energy to be totally in the experience for the night. They genuinely looked like they were having a blast--playing their hearts out just for the sake of it. Mad appreciation and deep gratitude for sharing their talent so generously--total reciprocity.
If I had known how good the show was going to be- I would have bought tix to two nights. The laser light show on this amazing fabric had my mouth agape the whole time. The cool music- mix of live band and electronic gadgets was just fun and funky and pretty and awesome. Would recommend that everyone catch this show!
Maybe it's me, but last time I went to this venue to see a DJ it was a late show club night. I didn't realize that (Live) meant a band instead of a DJ. Last time I saw Floating Points at a different venue, he DJ'd. This time it was a live set with a band. I got there at midnight expecting the night to be just getting going. Instead, it was finishing. When I asked the folks at Mezzanine, they explained it was a live show & were friendly about it. But I missed the show. I missed nearly all of Floating Points.
Very short gig, mediocre execution if not boring, and totally wrong venue.
