The Flight of the Conchords in Mountain View, CA, June 28th. **FOTC to Fans***
The Greatest Novelty Band in New Zealand ... of all time and Largest "Rock Band" (there is only two others so this is the Greatest Band by this much) played to a 96.34% sold out outdoor theater. About 10,000 (some say 20,000) fans were well treated to their 1 hour and 50 minutes of playing.
They asked twice not to phone video tape the show was a bit of a bummer but many (as I) did sneak here and there moments of their act. Robots was quite fun to record.
Not really a Sing along.... only near the end did Bret manage to get the crowd to sing along with the "I' am a Seagull... AUWWW AUWWW" new song.
The Crowd was fairly older with 20's to 60's year old range. Think average age was like 35 to 45. I am 53 and had lovely57 year old wife along with me pluse my 18 and 25 year old children. We all enjoyed the show..
They did not do a few classic songs and played many "new" songs that have not been released. I was hoping for Inter City Pressure but nooooooooo.
No "Business Time" nor "Hippopotamus" nor other favorites but still, worth it. Think they Skipped the "Hippopotamus" for Jemaine Clement.=
would make all the women in the first two rows pregnant... the lawsuits do mount up.
I sat in Row B, section 101, about 30 feet from them. Great seats, but cold when the wind picked up at Shoreline Theater. They really need to fix up the Male Bathrooms...rather neglected and feel like "Public" bathrooms in a big city..
Bret and Germain banter back and forth was priceless (well, worth the $75 I paid for the seats).
The opening acts were funny too but would have been great if Murry from the TV show showed up and "Called an Emergency Band Meeting" ......
I would have preferred a bit less new material and some classical and reference to the TV show.
Doing the song "Robots" with Jemaine having an Arn
Still, 5 Seagulls of 5 in my rating.
