This is a very interesting musical adaption of Flashdance the movie. While this is a musical, there's no orchestra playing the music live, it's all sound files, but the singing is sung live. One problem that musicals tend to have is the audio of the actors, but in this one, the microphones were very loud and clear. The stage setup of this show is unique in that it consists of one set for the whole show and only the things in the foreground change but not the background. Being that the show takes place in the 1980's, the choreography consists of many dance moves popular during the decade, so depending on your taste, you'll either like it or find it cheesy. The costumes were decent but could have looked a little bit more like what they looked like during the 80's, but due to quick costume changes, it works for practicality. Since Flashdance was originally a movie that came out in 1983, the musical adaption does a very good job of replicating the scenes in the film. It's strange that the musical and the movie are roughly the same amount of time. Overall, it's an interesting musical with a simple storyline that's not too complicated and enjoyable if you'd like to watch something that's contemporary and different. Whenever a story is adapted from one media type to another (e.g. movie to musical) it's generally a good idea to see the original in order to understand the new version or see the changes they've made. It's not required, but it's recommended. This show is for all audiences but probably not for young children, treat is as PG13.
