The lips doing darkside of the moon at red rocks need I say more....one of the worlds best bands at simply one of the worlds most beautiful venues
Both bands rocked my face off!!! I was blown away by how good they sounded.
OMG Primus was mind-melting! First time I ever saw them, and have been waiting on that for a while! Love Mister Claypool. Also, Morning Teleportation was the opening band, and they were awesome and very fun! The Flaming Lips doing Dark Side was most epic, my third time seeing them! They are one of my favorite performers!!! And, it was great seeing three amazing acts in such a beautiful natural ampitheater!!! I fell in love with Red Rocks!!!!
Flaming Lips are my favorite band to see live, and Red Rocks is my favorite venue. However, I greatly prefer a regular Lips show to the Dark Side of the Moon one they put on. I was surprised by Primus -- I had heard very little of their stuff, and didn't really like what I had heard, but they put on a great live show! I was impressed! Hadn't heard of Morning Teleportation, but I loved them!
Primus once again brings the weird dark funk and sets the stage for the Lips' characteristically wild rendering of Floyd's masterpiece. The 'Do You Realize??' encore provides an appropriately emotional cap to the night; I only wish both bands could have played a bit longer. I did not see opener Morning Teleportation's performance.
Everything from the clean sound reverberating off the rocks to the amazing intense visuals made this show a total sensory overload in a great way
Primus had a great set-lots of fun, good songs and show. I was really excited to see the Flaming Lips for the first time but was sorely disappointed. Too much tied to Oz even for a Dark Side show. Along with several tech pauses between songs and too many, too merry sing-a-long Oz songs; the mood dropped off in a hurry. Lastly, and most dissapointing, the security staff (2 blonde bozos in particular) take their "authority" way too serious and to the point that the beauty and awe of such an amazing venue and musical opportunities is overcast by the negative interactions.
This was one on the best concerts I have been to. Wayne is fantastic. Energy. The interpretation of DSM was unique. And the urban legend of Oz was very creative. DSM and Red Rocks.... How could it be better...
Primus as always was an amazing show, I have never seen a mediocre Primus show but when they play at Red Rocks it is something real special and never to be missed, as for the The Flaming Lips I just wasn't and have never have been impressed with them they did ok with the Pink Floyd material but I find them just to self indulgence to take serious, they are one of them acts that if they are at a festival that I bought a tickets for I will go and see em for a little bit but they are not a band I would pay a single thin dime to just see them.
There is no other act out there that puts on a show like the Flaming Lips!!!
great opener, primus brought every ounce of jam-tacular bass powered talent accompanied by stunning visuals and new songs, the flaming lips topped primus with a long journey in the crowd surfing space bubble, balloons, and dark side of the moon cut with the wizard of oz.
Red Rocks is like no other venue in the world. The Flaming Lips and Primus put on a magical intensely incredible show. I will never forget this special place in time and I hope to see the same show again next year!
I have been to alot of concerts in all my years. Ive seen them in Las Vegas and California. Seeing this show at Red Rocks was the best. I have never been to a show this good before. Primus was perfect. They played all the songs I wanted to hear and they were amazing just rocking out for us. Then The Flaming Lips came out and they played such a good set. I was blown away with the show. The perfect night Primus was hard and heavy to start and Lips really made the end of the night special
Killer audio and visual performances from two incredible performers, I would have paid 40 bucks for each one individually.
amazing show. best opening band ive seen in a while with morning teleportation and primus lit the stage up as always. les claypool's stage presence is incredible and unmatchable. For my first flaming lips show i was amazed. the best intro/story line with wizard of oz put to dark side of the moon was incredible. they really did the classic album justice with their interpretation.
1. Watch Les Claypool in a monkey suit slap the crap out of a stand up bass 2. Have gigantic balloons filled with money hurled at me 3. Find Jesus, because our seat was next to him 4. See Mark Coyne travel over the audience in a magic bubble 5. Look away, and when I look back, Mark Coyne has giant hands that shoot lasers. No drugs, honest truth. Best concert.
PRIMUS ROCKS, always have always will. Flaming Lips, a little to be desired even if they did play Dark side of the moon. I'm shocked Pink Floyd let them have the right to do so... Lame. Primus got the 4 stars!!! Love them, saw them in 96, and was as good if not better than I remember! <3
this show was beyond awesomesauce gave me pink floyd/flaming lips wood
The show was great overall. Primus was very impresive (first time seeing them). However, IMO Primus was on stage way too long. The Lips went through all of Dark Side of the Moon, and then only had time to play one Flaming Lips song (Do You Realize) before the show was over. Highly disappointing that only one Lips song was played. Obviously there are time restrictions, but it just didn't work out the best way. I took some Flaming Lips noobs, and while they have an idea of what a Flaming Lips show is like, it didn't do their regular shows justice. I've seen the Flaming Lips 6 times now, and every other show would be a 5-star (this was 3.5, rounded down to 3).
Most amazing show ever. Primus was awesome and the flaming lips outdid themselves
