Excellent leads... All 3 are very strong. Biggest issue is just how disjointed portions of it felt however, that can and hopefully will be remedied.

About
In First Wives Club, based on the smash hit 1996 film and Olivia Goldsmith’s bestselling novel, three former college friends reunite to find that they have more in common than their alma mater! Ditched by their respective husbands for younger women, they band together to settle scores with the men who did them wrong. Featuring a new book by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (Designing Women), known for having created some of popular culture’s most empowered female characters, songs – both original and classic – by Motown legends Holland-Dozier-Holland, and direction by Simon Phillips (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical), First Wives Club is a hilarious and inspiring story about friendship at its strongest… and revenge at its sweetest.

by MJLaw on 3/15/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoDidn't know what to expect from the Broadway production of the First Wives Club, in fact wasn't sure I wanted to see it, but WOW!, I'm glad I did. FWC was an amazing energizing breath of fresh air. It reference the First Wives Club story well, backed with an superb theatrical production. The music was phenomenal. I'm glad it debut here in Chicago. Truly a must see.

Rating: 3 out of 5 First Wives, no audience invstment
by August16 on 3/14/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoTo me it was pretty underwhelming as a musical. The voices were great; though the role of Cynthia was minimized and not used effectively. Considering I went only because of the H-D-H score, I expected more depth and certainly more inclusive casting. Why only one person of color?
Rating: 5 out of 5 FWC is unmissable!
by CentralParkEast on 3/13/15Oriental Theater - ChicagoHilarious!!! Fantastic music, voices, and dancing. Morgan Weed as Shelley is incredibly funny!!!! Look forward to seeing again in New York on Broadway!
Rating: 3 out of 5 Slow moving 2nd half
by TRGoody on 3/13/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoFirst half was good, entertaining, close to script of movie but enough differences to keep engaged. Second half moved REALLY slow - was longer than first half, needed to be more energy and less slow, individual couple songs. Skipped some of the funniest key parts and dragged out the couple songs. Kept looking at my watch - couple have cut 20-30 mins from 2nd half to make it more in line with timing of typical musicals where 2nd half is shorter than 1st and kept audience more engaged. Also could not believe the number of people who were allowed to come in super late. At least 50 people interrupted the first half even though program states that would not be allowed. Could have been great musical, parts were but overall average at best.

by SBXmugcollector on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoWhat a great surprise to see a pre-Broadway opening and have it turn out to be so much fun. We laughed until we cried, and the songs were great! The wives were each so funny and the hairdresser was priceless.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Great Girlfriends' Night!
by Jennbeth333 on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoMy friends and I went to a 730pm Sunday show. Last show of the week...after the cast did a show earlier in the day. There was no disappointment here! The actors and actresses really showed us an awesome event! The musical differs from the movie, so if that's what you're expecting, don't. The characters are equally well developed, and their voices will blow the roof off the place! I missed some of the iconic moments from the movie, especially Leslie Gore's "You Don't Own Me," but all in all, a rollicking good time was had!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Girls night out
by Kingcharlesbuddy on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoLooking for the perfect girls night out proved to be the right choice by attended First Wives Club. It was funny, a bit naughty but most of all hit the mark with great singing, acting and stage scenes.
Rating: 2 out of 5 First Wives Club wasn't one I'd belong to!
by Henmen on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoCompletely not as good as the movie, actors took too long to engage with audience. Was worse than a rehearsal. My 75 year old mother was bored. No pizzaz. Costumes looked cheap. We kept waiting for it to be fun. Highs and lows didn't balance. Everyone had great voices but all the music was sung so differently it didn't sound good enough to remember this or that. Most valuable actor on stage was Morty. At least he connected with the audience. Sorry but went home tired instead of happy and entertained.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Book to Movie to Broadway
by KludKlud on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoThe show was a great way to present some of the less positive events in a woman's life that can be turned around by true friendship. I took my Mother and my best friend to see it and the lot of us had a great time. Discounted tickets put us in Orchestra seating, with a great view at the Oriental theatre. The first half was pretty somber while the second was hilarious and uplifting. It's too bad the song associated with the movie - You Don't Own Me - wasn't part of the play, but they did replace it with another that worked really nicely. Overall, the acting was great, the ladies were terrific, and the venue was quite lovely.
Rating: 3 out of 5 A Broadway Musical About a Movie
by movieversion1 on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoLoved the movie, read the book. No question about the talents of every person involved in this Broadway-bound musical. Top level, across the board. But, I've seen the movie several times, so that's kind of enough for me.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Fantastic!

Rating: 3 out of 5 Fun moments but needs work
by Bippie2 on 3/11/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoFirst, great performances all around. The leads are great and the rest of the cast is strong. Faith Prince is a treasure. At intermission I thought this was going to be a disappointing show. Second act was much stronger than the first. Costumes and furniture are good. Set became annoying - just sliding doors and windows. Classic songs are well integrated. New music wasn't impressive - they rarely move the show forward. Cut a few and the show would be better. Running time is currently too long (2:45). With some cuts and work, this could be a solid show.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Potential, but needs work
by HookedOnTheatre on 3/10/15Oriental Theatre Chicago - ChicagoThe show needs a new first scene. The excessive drinking and staggering before the suicide really dragged. The whole first act was too long. In an attempt to develop the characters, the author failed to grab the audience. The "bar mitzvah" scene and Jason's song were cut but still found in the Playbill - not a good sign. This also made the character of Jason superfluous, cut the character and just refer to Jason. (this also eliminates the need to double cast the child actor's part). The second act was much stronger for those of us who stayed. The "revenge" could have been more fully developed with more comedic parts.
