This was one of the best soccer games I have ever seen...AWESOME !
The United States’ 5-2 victory over Japan in the Women’s World Cup Final was seen by 25.4 million viewers on Fox — a record for any soccer game, men’s or women’s. And my family got to be there. We got to feel the energy. (And we smelled the smoke from the nearby fires, and we heard the booing of the FIFA officials.) Most importantly, we felt like we were a part of history. I BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE WON! P.S. How about some pay equity for the women, FIFA???
I had the good fortune to travel to Winnipeg for the group play and attend the final game in Vancouver and I have to say the U.S. Team are an amazing group of women. In one of the send off games US vs Mexico these ladies played with gusto and were amazing. In group play they were settling into the enormity of the competition but never lost their focus on the prize. The stayed steady and with Jill Ellis's leadership they played with confidence. In the final, all their hard work, planning, strategizing and fitness came together and these ladies were in tune to each other, to what they had to accomplish and their confidence was on target. They fought, earned and deserved to be the World Champions. The game was one of the best soccer games I have ever witnessed. Japan fought a hard fight and their precise passing and skill is always a beauty to watch. Unfortunately for them the U.S. Women were not going home without that trophy. It was theirs when they walked on the pitch and it is theirs for four more years! Way to Go USA. We Believe in each and every one of you. Congratulaions! Look forward to all you have to offer in the future!
Our seats were awesome and the stadium was really nice and clean and easy to navigate. Plus, the game itself was absolutely amazing.
It was an amazing game, and put on show just how good the US Women are. I had felt since before the Cup that being ranked second behind Germany was simply wrong, and they showed it both against Germany in the semifinal and even more emphatically in the final. Japan was probably a bit tired from one day less rest, but that is not enough to explain how dominating this was. The Japanese were as sharp as they have been all Cup on attack, and they were no match for the US. Time and again the US exposed their relatively weak defense and goalkeeping. Japans’ goals came from an uncharacteristic own goal and a missed tackle by Julie Johnson (who of all the US players did not have her best game in the Final). Otherwise, all of Japan’s attacks were dealt with decisively and effectively. Japan's two goals and a goal by Australia in the first 30 minutes of the first group game were the only ones conceded by the US in the entire Cup. The US had not been scoring lots of goals since their 3 against Australia in the opener, but always enough to win, and they saved the best for last. Carli Lloyd scored in the last 4 games, all crucial goals, and also defended and distributed all over the field. The Golden Ball was truly well-deserved, and she barely missed getting the Golden Boot as well. Hope Solo also deserved the Golden Glove, although as always, one can argue she had an outstanding defense in front of her. I think her competition was the Colombian goalkeeper who was also outstanding, but she had a suspension from accumulated yellow cards and Colombia probably didn’t go far enough into the elimination round to warrant giving it to her. The German goalkeeper was also very good, but I still give the edge to Solo. In sum, the US fully deserved to win this Cup!
It was perfect. These women are unstoppable. All their base are belong to us.
5/5, would watch my country win the World Championship again!
AWESOME GAME!!! The place was rocking and being a USA fan, it was just spectacular!!
Unforgettable. Doesn't happen everyday. If you ever get a chance to see a World Cup match do it. YOLO
The Women's Soccer World Cup Championship Game was fantastic. The venue was as if it was built for this one event. My seat was one row from the top, and yet I felt like I was very close to the action. I always enjoy visiting Vancouver, BC and I had a good time. When I purchased my ticket through the FIFA website it turned out I was on the Canadian Ticketmaster ticket site and it rejected my purchase. I really thought I was out of luck for getting a ticket until it re-directed me to the American Ticketmaster site. The ticket was more expensive because of higher 'service charges', but I was able to get a ticket to the event.
BC Place in Vancouver was a beautiful stadium to watch this game. Most of the seats were shaded which made a fairly warm day very comfortable for watching this exciting game. Not only was there a large monitor, but there were several small screens near our seats. I used binoculars for close up action but they weren't necessary ( We sat in 218 row OO 107-109) so I would definitely recommend these seats although of course there are better seats at higher prices. The only thing I didn't like was they removed all the caps from the bottled drinks they sold us, I understand they think people throw them but come on, so annoying when you are carrying things, as spilling the drinks happens a lot. The floors were sticky all around our seats.
Goals aplenty. Would I recommend this to a friend? No, too late you missed it.
Amazing game to attend. Felt like a USA home game. Spectacular results!!!
What more can be said. Shock and awe in the beginning. Japan showed class through the entire match and beyond.
When I bought the tickets the teams were not determined. I expected the USA and Germany to be the teams and that this game should determine who wins the World Cup. The game was more exciting than I could imagine. The best game of the World Cup. The facility is a bit aged. Lighting was lacking in stairways just outside the stadium. The reverberation in a concrete facility is annoying. Concession service in the stands was almost non-existent. Just like in Ottawa the regular concessions were not adequate. It you wanted World Cup gear you needed to miss the game. Knowing the USA was playing they should have added at least double the World Cup gear concessions.
My pre-judgement was that since the Japanese team was so organized, the only way to beat them was with something totally off the wall. And that is exactly what the USA team did. 2 goals in the first 3 minutes was a double whammy from which the Japanese never really recovered. Carli Lloyd's hat trick was thrilling, especially the third goal from midfield. I still contend that the "own goal (OG)" scored by the US player for the Japanese was because she felt badly that they had only scored once-LOL. The entire match was amazing play by the US players. It was as though the whole tournament had been a rehearsal for this match.
Everything about the game was great! The atmosphere amazing! The fans chanting! It was great all around
Rows were staggered enough to prevent the person in front of you from blocking your view no matter the height difference. Had a perfect view of all the action! There was not a bad seat in the house. Incredible views even from the cheap seats.
This is the best soccer game I ever watched. Both teams did play the game at the champion level.
If you ever thought about going to the world cup to watch your favorite team, just do it!!! The experience was unforgettable.
