    Don't need a repeat performance.

by agirlsocool on 10/24/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

I was really looking forward to Festival Supreme. I wondered how they would pull it off, but figured it would be a success. Well, think again. The part of the pier that hosted the festival was MUCH to small for the amount of tickets that were sold. At one point, after Beardyman, there was a total traffic jam of people from the Club Intimacy tent to the regular part of the festival. No one could even take a step without forcibly pushing another out of the way. We didn't bother even going to that tent again. Getting food or water was pretty much out of the question unless you were in for a long wait. To get a bottle of water you had to stand in a LONG line with all of the people trying to get beer. The acts themselves didn't impress me (with the exception of Beardyman, Zach G. and Triumph). Comedians trying to be musicians generally didn't work for me. Zach G was actually hysterical during his standup (the only straightforward standup act their was) but it was only 15 minutes long. It really made no sense. There weren't enough seats. I was hungry. The acts generally weren't funny. That's about it. No need to give it another go next year.

    Terribly Executed

by FS123 on 10/24/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Someone fell asleep at the wheel planning this event. The line to get in was crazy long, and took about 45 minutes. Once inside. there were three main tents where the acts performed. The stand up comedian tent, named Club Intimacy, was separate from the rest of the festival. It required leaving the fenced off area, crossing through a public pier area, and re-entering another fenced off area. This process caused a huge bottleneck at both the exit and entrance. Local police came and told people to turn around because they were at capacity. I saw a lot of people leave the area, and I personally missed two comedians I had hoped to see before I finally got in. Later, Mr. Show performed, but Adam Sandler was performing at the same time within earshot. The two performances drowned each other out making it very hard to hear what was going on. Additionally they started playing Sandler's set on these large screens on both sides of Mr. Show's stage. It was a mess. There were some good acts, and the final Tenacious D set was great, but I paid over $100 for this show and felt like I got about $35 worth of value.

    More comedy!

by pebsmith on 10/24/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

This was fantastic! I flew across the country for this epic comedy festival and I would do it again if there was a lineup this good. I wish there were more comedy festivals!

    The supreme pizza of festivals

by GrandmasBunions on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Yeah, that was pretty much amazing. Maybe some traffic flow and tech issues, but overall I'd say it was awesome. Killer venue too.

    Terrible

by ComedyFestHater on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Badly planned. All the comedy was comedy music which wasn't clear. Would not be going back.

    Couldn't have been better.

by TheAlexHluch on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Eric Idle and Billy Idol shared the stage. Bands played at alternating times on alternating stages and each stage was broadcast so you could stay in one spot and not actually miss a thing. Conan showed up. The Lonely Island headlined UNANNOUNCED. It was incredible.

Massive entertainment with a variety of acts

by ckat02 on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Many different comedy and musical acts, and I enjoyed all of them. Great surprise to see Conan O'Brian and other cool unannounced guests. Free video games in the arcade were an added bonus. Good food selections for this type of event. The only downside was having the ability to easily move from one stage to another in order to catch all the acts.

    Miserable experience

by CANYJ on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Incredibly poor organization and execution. After waiting in line over an hour and missing the performer we mainly wanted to see we bailed after seeing a poor setup with overcrowded tents and no seating. I would very much like my money back for this.

    It was a Supreme Festival

by Bhaha on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Too many great things to see caused a lot of frustration, but I had the time of my life running from stage to stage to catch a glimpse of some of my favorite comedians and musicians.

Hey negative hipster-types! This event rocked!

by elchristo on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Los Angeles

Musical comedy events like this never happen, and should more often, so it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of a premiere such as Festival Supreme. I can see this evolving every year to include more and more great acts that weren't a part of this first experience. I could list names, but if you are reading this review, then I'm sure you can think of a bunch yourself, whether you were a part of this first annual event or wished you could've been. The reason I only gave 4 stars and not five was twofold. The first is due to the organization of the event. I believe it was completely overbooked. I read that there were 9000 people that attended in total and that blows my mind. The line itself once I got in it around 2:30 took about an hour and by the time I was halfway to the gate, it had doubled in size behind me. Then of course more lines that kept increasing inside to get food and beer, this actually wasn't too bad, but what really chaffed my groin was the fact that they were mostly cash only!! In this day and age of Digital currencies on the rise and pretty much everyone having a paypal account or at least a debit/credit account used to pay for transactions online, you would thing a major event like this would better cater to this fact. I suppose I listed the second with the cash only bit. But a third gripe would be that there were multiple schedule conflicts and too short of sets for some and seemingly too long sets for others. For my part I could've just lived the entire event through in the Mighty Tent. I got to see Eric Idle in person as well as the Mighty Boosh and The Mr. Show reunion! Any the fact that Scott Ian and Brendon Small came on as Titanica guitarists blew my mind! I just wish there was a place to go after each guests sets to get autographs and take pics with them. I did get a pic, albeit a blurry one, of Tom Kenny and myself, but that was after lingering around and waiting for just that right moment while Tim & Eric's set was ongoing. So overall I had myself a blast at the Festival Supreme and would more than likely go again depending on the line-up. I hope they release a compilation DVD of all the material and sell at a decent price soon so I can see everyone that I missed out seeing.

    everyone did great

by gigglenutts on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

I traveled all the way from Texas on road to see this event and it was completely worth it. All the acts did great, well the ones i saw at least. I do like it was put together, much like several music festivals I've been too. Mighty Boosh was the main reason i was going but i am a big fan of everyone there. I hope to see this event happen again and it was cool to be apart of the potential beginnings of somethings magical lol. Great job and I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as i did.

    Festival Supreme was Amazing!!

by Kmich on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

The venue was great! Could probably have been bigger considering the turnout.....but was still great! Especially, since they had everything up on the big screen in the central most point of the floor, so everyone could always catch what was going on.....even in line for food/drink! The unbelievable seven hour line-up of of 16 different comedy/music performers was absolutely incredible! Never mind the unexpected guests! Jack Black is genius to have put it all together!! It was funny & fantastic & so much fun from start to finish! Hands down, Megan Mullally & Stephanie Hunt's band NANCY AND BETH gave the best performance of the festival! Finger's crossed that the 2013 Festival Supreme was really the First Annual! I'll definitely be there next yr, if they put it all together again!

    Great show; Horrible Layout

by YoJoe on 10/23/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

I had a great time at the Festival Supreme. There should have been better thought into the venue layout though. The Mighty Tent caused a choke point for people trying to walk to the Intimacy Stage or the bathrooms. If there was a clearly marked pathway with employees making people walk it would not have been as bad. With no one getting people to move, there was quite a bit of crowding on the side of the Mighty tent making the walk past the tent slow and tedious. Then there was the issue of when you made it past the huge crowd of people to get to the intimacy tent, they sent you back the other way because the tent was full. Having big names like Patton Oswald, Demetri Martin, Sarah Silverman, and Tim Minchin on a stage like that made it impossible to reach because it was always full. Although this review might seem all negative, I did enjoy it and would go again. Hopefully they have it at a bigger venue, or they learn from these mistakes and make stages more accessable.

We had the best time. All those amazing people and acts in one place. Music and comedy go hand in hand together. To bring a festival with it all. Thank you

by DakotaM on 10/22/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

Tons of people pushing to get near the stages. Couldnt get near Zack G. Huge lines for food, then once u ordered, more waiting. Disorganized. Not able to sit at all. Just standing in huge crowd, trying to see.for hours! Saw Triumph, Adam Sandler, who were great. Left before Tenacious D, who werent on till 9:00 pm. Show started 2:00. Too much time to stand in crowds.

Nice idea, hopefully next time is better planned

by DG284382948927492874 on 10/22/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

This comedy festival was a nice idea, but there were way too many people in way too small of a space. Since the "festival" was actually not that big, really only one stage was going at a time, with people shuffling back and forth between them. I never made it to "Club Intimacy" which was the smaller third stage, but given that I was unable to move around at the other stages, or while trying to get a refreshment, or while trying to go to the bathroom, I'm not sure how much more intimate I wanted to get. I'm a tall guy and have a little perspective, and basically the entire pier was a bunch of lines. To get from one stage to another meant cutting through 15 different lines that went from one side of the pier to the other. After 7 pm, the lines coagulated into a big mass shifting back and forth between stage 1 and stage 2. The only beer available at that point was Heineken, which was unfortunate, but probably also a reflection that the festival organizers oversold and didn't adequately plan for the crowds. All the performers were really funny of course. Not to take it for granted, but of course they were funny. These were some illustrious names, including Adam Sandler who isn't exactly easy to catch these days. Zach Galifinakas was the big dumb loser of the night; he mumbled through a 10 minute set while people hollered at him to speak up. When he left the stage there was almost no applause, just thousands of fans reflecting in silence on his futility.

I was so surprised by the talented Garfunkel Oates

by ECT1 on 10/22/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

I attended for my husband's birthday gift. Who knew I was the one that would feel so treated. Everything was awesome I don't even know where to begin. The Mighty Boosh that my daughter was soooooo jealous missing. I thought there creativity and artistic balance was out of this world. A new group for me though I understand the have been around for a while. I had to pinch myself repeatedly to recognize I was in the presence and only feet away from Black, Zach (I will mess up his name for sure), Silverman, Sandler, and Idol x 2 OMG and even more! Each artist is so amazing and so talented I can only say thank you thank you thank you.

    oversold and underwhelmed

by boosher on 10/22/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

The event was oversold, it was so crowded I felt like I was in a traffic jam of people. Merch wasn't stocked enough and sold out way too fast. It was nearly impossible to see the stage, which would've been okay if the bigscreens were higher. They were just as tall as the stage so they were pretty pointless. The sound was shitty and you couldn't hear it very far. Sets were way too short. I flew pretty far for this event and was really heartbroken that I didn't really get to see the acts I wanted. Quality is always better than quantity.

    Festival Supreme

by SuzeBercke on 10/22/13Santa Monica Pier - Santa Monica

The artists were great but the event was way oversold which made an uncomfortable experience for everyone. If they plan another one, it should be in a much larger space. Thanks for the Boosh though. It almost made the pain of standing in a crush of people for 7 hours bearable.
