About

Felly In Concert

Felly's showmanship takes cues from the likes of ‘90s SoCal icons Sublime, as he exudes a slacker-rock style, but with the Gen Z hip-hop aesthetic on par with Post Malone's nonchalant rockstar rap. On stage, the rapper and beatmaker channels a mischievous insouciance that harks back to the naughty side of California Dreamin'. Yet, Felly's chilled-out antics paired with his intoxicating urban flow might seem incongruous. The 22-year-old artist is creating a whole new style of his own, dubbing it "Surf Trap," a sound he further solidified in 2018 with his second studio album of the same name. His getup, too, goes well with his unique mashup: the USC alum often sports beanies atop his dirty-blond shag, combined with brightly hued baggy clothing; Beach Trash, his clothing line, features a similar aesthetic. Whether trapping, rocking, or beach bumming, Felly's performances are guaranteed to bring plenty of breezy thrills.

Felly Background

Born Christian Robert Felner in 1995, the Trumbull, Connecticut artist is truly a product of the iGeneration. As a preteen, the prodigy made a name for himself, experimenting with beats and songwriting and posting them on YouTube, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp. While he launched myriad musical projects as early as 2011, 2014 was the year he released his proper full-length album, Waking Up to Sirens, which features a whirlwind of styles: skittering jazzy riffs, smooth rap bars, and breezy atmospherics. The following year, he proved his prolific prowess, dropping a cluster of albums like Milk & Sugar, This Sh*t Comes in Waves, and Instrumentals (Best of 2013-2015). Then came 2016's Young Fel. And with 2017's Wild Strawberries, Felly produced a more radio-friendly pop sound and cemented himself as one of trap's most versatile acts. This led to the creation of 2018's Surf Trap, his full-length major debut record.
