EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY IN CONCERT:
Post-rockers Explosions in the Sky treat audiences to a blissed-out musical adventure any time they play their stunning instrumentals in concert. The group’s three guitarists gracefully pluck complex melodies and weave in gorgeous harmonies to lift listeners’ moods on each transcendent track. The rhythm section enhances the group’s dynamic focus, running the gamut between subtle orchestral rolls and earth-shaking marches on standout numbers like “Your Hand in Mine”, “Let Me Back In”, and “Disintegration Anxiety”. With their virtuosic musicianship, ambitious songwriting, and electric showmanship, Explosions in the Sky sweeps ticket buyers up and takes them on an impressionistic journey every time they perform.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Austin, TX post-rockers Breaker Morant were inspired to change their name to Explosions in the Sky after watching fireworks erupt overhead following a 1999 gig at a local radio station. Under the new moniker, Michael James (guitar/bass), Munaf Rayani (guitar), Mark Smith (guitar) and Chris Hrasky (drums) got right to work, making their debut the following year with the album How Strange, Innocence. Recognizing the cinematic qualities of the group’s emotionally charged instrumentals, film producer Brian Reitzell reached out to Explosions in the Sky to compose the soundtrack for the 2004 major motion picture Friday Night Lights, which gave the band more mainstream exposure. Over the years the group has become renowned for their impassioned live performances and stirring albums, including 2016’s critically-acclaimed album The Wilderness.

I had an amazing time watching explosions in the sky. Second time seeing them and the sound quality at this venue was way better than the time last I saw them perform.
Light show and overall presence was better than Godspeed! who I saw last month. Godspeed was pretentious, Explosions were quite that - it felt like explosions in the sky. Lights and sound cascaded into a beautiful residue that left me feeling G O O D baby. They played all of their hits and thensome and the lights + sound were incredible.
This concert was phenomenal. Explosions in the Sky is the great kind of band that doesn't have to use words to make the audience feel something. I loved being able to just sit in wonder and awe.
Explosions in the Sky is a must see concert. I've been to a lot of concerts and this was one of the top five concerts I've ever been too. The euphoric emotions created by Explosions in the Sky stayed with me for days. I can't wait to see them live again!
Explosions in the Sky is one of the greatest instrumental bands. I loved hearing The Birth and and Death of the Day, Human Qualities, Disintegration Anxiety, and Your Hand in Mine, I really enjoyed the moment when it looked like they were performing inside a cloud. I've gone to many many shows. I've never seen this kind of effect. Their scenic type music was really captured. I can't wait to see them again.
The venue was hands down, one of thee best places to see a band like this. Not only was the music incredible, but the light show added so much to the performance, add the fact that we were outdoors, so the trees and mountains added to the overall ambiance. Had the sky been clear, and the stars shining bright, and it would have been a perfect night. EITS had a set that, although was about an hour and half, left you wanting more, while Holy Fuck got the crowd pumped with their incredibly energetic opening. Overall, if these two bands play this venue together again, it's a must see. I honestly did not want the night to end.
Had a great time at the event. The acoustics/sound were at times somewhat distorted, high freq seemed to overlap other sounds.
Couldn't have had a better experience! The venue is perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable concert, bar is easily accessible with short lines. Band could not have put on a better show, will have to catch them in Tulsa in November.
It was an awesome experience! The light show was beautiful and the opening band was amazing as well! We are definitely coming back
Great sound, nice venue, comfortable atmosphere, good bar service...what more could I ask for?
The venue was in a great location the staff was ACTUALLY cool an helpful An laid back. The sound An lights were great. Not a bad seat in the house!
This band has been putting on excellent shows for years but the full production of their concerts now are truly incredible. The lighting, sound, and overall performance from the band is out of this world. Seeing EITS on Easter Sunday in the Mother Church was by and large the closest I've ever felt to connecting with whatever ethereal higher power is out there floating around in the vast nothingness that is our universe.
By far the best show I've ever seen!! The lights and set list were mind blowing, they really told a story!!
It was Wonderful! New tunes are really good. Maybe little better than the old tunes at the performance.
I was totally disappointed in this set. Listening to the band online and on albums shows a band with lots of melody, harmony and nuances. Live, they devolved into too much chaos and noise that they drew away from what they should have been,
Absolutely incredible! This show had me mesmerized the entire time.
A great show! I have never seen nor heard of them before a coworker mentioned she couldn't make the show and offered up the tickets. I wanted to try something new and snatched them up. I didn't listen to any of their music before the show, just to go in without any expectations and I was blown away. The music was amazing, perfectly corrdinated with the lighting effects in a beautuful space #brandnewfan
First time seeing EITS and they did not disappoint! Amazing show!!
It was such an incredible show in the beautiful King's Theater. Beyond Explosions being powerful and moving the lighting was key to creating the atmosphere.
