About

Ridiculously funny and bloody awesome! That's what theatregoers from Toronto to NYC and around the world have been saying about the record-breaking musical comedy sensation that takes all the elements of Sam Raimi's cult classic films to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time! The only musical in the world where audiences can sit in the “Splatter Zone” and get drenched from the mayhem, or watch from a save (and dry) distance.

Five college students spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to our hero, Ash, and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Evil Dead the Musical, has it all - some dismembered limbs, demons telling bad jokes, and catchy tunes (“Look Who’s Evil Now”, “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons”).

SPLATTER ZONE: Audience members have a "bloody" choice in seating! You can sit in the "Dry Zone" to watch the mayhem or you can sit in the infamous “Splatter Zone!” and get drenched when the blood starts gushing! You will get drenched by stage “blood” and get increasingly wet over the course of the performance (ponchos are available for purchase).

Evil Dead was hilarious and entertaining!

by rgds87 on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Had a great time! I liked that it incorporated elements from Evil Dead 1 & 2, as well as referenced Army of Darkness. Very funny and well worth seeing!

    An evening of fun...

by DoubleJay on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Evil Dead the Musical is nothing but two hours of fun. Catchy songs and amazing talent. My only problem with the production: sometimes the music over powered the vocals and lyrics became hard to understand. I took a newbie to see the show and he had a great time.

    Good, silly fun!

by Nome1111 on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

It was an entertaining and silly show that keeps you laughing. It did not seem like a 2 hour show as it kept things moving and engaging, had good references to pop culture while staying true to the movie plot lines. Not for the kids though.....a bit to crude for them. We loved the fake blood! Just wish they had cameras in the front row that could pan in on the audience getting splattered with fake blood! It was a riot to see people leaving soaked and smiling! Thumbs up!

Evil dead is one of my boyfriends favorite movies, so he had me watch it with him. I surprised him with tickets to the show and we couldn't be happier we went! It is entertaining, extremely funny, and has great actors! Totally worth seeing!

    Show, good. Splatter, bad.

by SCCHI on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The show was hysterical. Campy, just as to be expected. My friend and I were very excited to sit in the splatterzone! We even dressed as our fav characters. Well, we were center, 3rd row. We did not get splattered. We did not get squirted. We did not get sprayed. I think that my right hand got a little bit misted at one point, but then it just looked like I got overzealous making cherry koolaid. We saw the fake blood dousing other audience members or just sadly dribbling out of some other parts. Also...why were there so many people wearing plastic ponchos, sitting in the splatter zone? That's the whole point! Of course, those were the people that got splattered the most. I'd ask to get the extra money back that I paid to sit in the splatterzone, but it's not worth it. Oh, well.

    Evil Dead The Musical

by mavira on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

It was a lewd, crude fun time! I took my adult kids to see this since my son is a fan of the original movies. We really enjoyed ourselves especially the puns and gags that paid homage to the original movies.

Evil Dead is funny good time

by Chicagolady275 on 10/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The humor was very much adult slapstick and a bit corny but that's what made it so funny. I would definitely recommend sitting in the splatter zone. That's where the fun and action really is.

    Corny but good

by MistressJ on 10/5/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Enjoyed the musical, the swearing from 69 was quite unnecessary. But everyone did a great job. Sat in the splatter zone in row D but only got a few drops splattered my way. Go see it, Just wish that it would have been busier on a Thursday Night, I think that would have made it more fun.

    Fun

by beachcontessa on 10/5/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

It was fun, and the cast was enthusiastic though a bit amateur. Seemed like a very, very good high school presentation. Despite that, I'd recommend it as a good evening out.

    pass on this

by FizzixMike on 9/30/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The music was canned, not live , and not mixed well with the live singers. All of this was made worse by dull songs and lyrics. The script was not very funny, mostly juvenile jokes. The blood splatters did not really line up with any of the action on stage and just seemed superfluous. The actors at least did have energy and seemed to be trying so I can't fault them. Bottom line is when I am paying $90 per seat, I expect a more polished and professional production.

I would recommend this event to a friend if and only if I knew they could afford to take out-of-state visits more than occasionally. The show was funny, hilarious even, but I was disappointed with how little blood there was in the splash zone - I've been to shows previous where I came out drenched. For spending so much money I expected more. BUT! Don't underrate it. My partner - who isn't into musicals - was very amused by it and would see it again.

    Fun Time, good laughs

by JDKN on 9/30/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Saw this with my girlfriend. The actors were enthusiastic and overall, did an excellent job. The material was a little out dated and some of it dragged but overall we both had a very good time and have recommended it to friends. Needs more blood!
