WOW! I didn't know what to expect and I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would.
I went with a Peruvian lady friend. Eva is her favorite singer. I don't even speak Spanish...but...I could feel the passion in her voice and the crowd was moved to dance in their seats. Her band was awesome....50% of the musicians were "rythym" players...bass, trap drums, congas, bongos, El Cajon and various other things like a jawbone, catanettes, wood block, cow bell. Horn section (trombone, sax and trumpet) were awesome. Classical guitarist was a virtuoso. Piano player was fabulous.
Eva's voice is husky and sultry, Her body movements were suggestive and evocative...yet tasteful and very uninhibited in a sensual but entertaianing way. The two back up singers were always on pitch and in sync...and they could move too!
I will never allow myself to be stuck with my white bread taste for music again. I will explore other kinds of music going forward. Royce hall is a nice venue.
All in all avery entertaining event and it was an evening I will alwys remember. My especial friend also had a great time and was very happy I took her to see Eva. This was the best part for me.
