The Birchmere is the Birchmere. I've you been here once, you know to show up early and secure preferred seating. If you've never been, now you know. Estelle was entertaining and engaging. However, she kept trying to get young-folk energy, from a crowd of grown-folk. Other than that, it was an easily enjoyable evening.
Estelle has a bunch of potential but needs a full live band. She was also an hour late and then had a DJ play music for the first 15 minutes.
The Best concert I’ve been to in the last 10 years!!! It was 3 of us and we had so much fun with Estelle!!! She worked the crowd and did a fantastic job getting everyone involved!!! She is so down to earth and has a great personality. Everything about her was upbeat, life, mesmerizing and heart felt. Everyone could relate. I would go again and bring more friends!!! We didn’t want the concert to END!!! We are still singing her songs!!! Conqueror is one of my Favorites!!! TB
She was great! I was a party from stsrt to finish.
Very inclusive and audience friendly. My first time at that venue. Intimate setting and very easy to get audience participation. Estelle was exciting. Personally, I wanted more ‘overs rock’ (Beres Hammond) genre but Estelle proved herself to be a versatile performer with selections across a variety of genres- R&B, dancehall/rap, reggae, ballad. All in all, a value packed entertaining evening.
Estelle is a great performer, singer and composer no doubt about it. Was good to see her live, though I rather her performance was not based on the DJ samples and videos, but on her live performance with a real full band, without backtracks. The were only two (great) accompanying musicians. For a small place like BBKing she could have done something more acoustic, without using the DJ or videos.
Line up was great but length of performances was not
The theater is spectacular including the stage; lights and decor. What wasn't done was correct sound checks for the entire area considered the "orchestra" and back. If the volume had been lower then the voices of the artists could have had an effect on the audience and "captured" the feel. It was stadium loud and highly distorted. It also was on the "cheap" side to have 4 talented artists stand on a stage ALONE and sing to pre-recorded beat tracks of their own music. A few instruments might have made it less like a grammar school talent show. EVERYONE was hugely displeased with Eric Benet.... 3 songs and a distorted version of Georgie Porgy? wow.... show needs some fine tuning- it COULD become something going forward.
Very nice fundraiser, all of the performers put all it all out :)
