The show was amazing and the venue wonderfully intimate. I will be back for more shows at this venue (this past one was my first time), and hopefully Eric Bibb returns soon!
Grant Dermody and his harmonicas made Eric's music even better than it is by himself, which in my mind is exquisite.
Between Eric Bibb's solo act and Ruthie Foster's 3 piece band the entire audience totally enjoyed the evening. They both are excellent showmen. Eric's ability to capture the blues and make it talk to the audience was awesome, and Ruthie's incredible voice showed both rang and emotion. I don't think I could have picked a better event to share with my better half.
Eric Bibb and Ruthie Foster were fabulous. It was wonderful to experience these great talents each separately and then together for a couple songs.
Both Ruthie and Eric were great in the solo sets - souful, smiling, engaging. The combo tunes needed some audio balancing in our quaint historic deco venue. Overall, bravo!
I have a collection of Eric Bibb's recordings and I always wanted to see him. I was not disappointed. He is an accomplished guitarist with a wonderful resonate voice. His style is blues-gospel-folk. He is also a great song writer. Although the attendance at the concert was small, I think it was because of the weather and Bibb is not so well known - yet. Don't miss the opportunity to see him.
I've been to 11 EB concerts in the last three years at different venues in Northern CA and have loved every concert. He's my favorite singer. His concerts are amazing and he's a very personable, nice guy and very humble. It's fun to talk with him after the performances and I'll continue to see him wherever I can.
