Humperdink sounded good when you could hear him but much of the time his voice was dronwed out by the loudness of the orchestra. Lower decibels on the orchestra would have made for a much more pleasant experience.
73 and sings as good as he did in the 1960's. I has far away seats which were not bad of the Silver legacy. The sound was done very well I could hear every note and didn't need to wear ear plugs. The show was fantastic.
He was awesome. The seats were great - although not set up as displayed on the venue seating chart. In the beginning the fantastic band overpowered his voice - which is almost impossible to do - but, it got more soothing as the concert went on.
As a fan, I really enjoyed his performance. Throughout the show, however, he frequently did not project his voice enough, and the music drowned him out. I heard a person behind me make the same comment. I would recommend the show to a fellow fan but not to anyone who's not.
And a wonderful night it was at the South Shore Music Circus Sunday night. The weather was perfect, for a change, and Engelbert was in fine form. After 43 years of singing, he still can hit those notes like no one else and sounded, to borrow one of his song titles, "Totally Amazing". He moved around that stage like a singer half his age, joked around and brought a lucky lady up on stage, as he has done for many years, and sang to "just her"-a comic effect was that she was holding up a cue card he handed her so he could read the lyrics and then proceeded to sit on her lap while singing and holding the cue card, which may or may not have been a shock or delight to her!! She was then awarded with a kiss and a signature red handkerchief. Long live the King of Romance! The set was a good mix of songs with some old favorites (the sing along ones, amount them The Last Waltz, Man Without Love), some new from upcoming CD's Legacy of Love, A Taste of Country and Eternally. He did a great job on the Springsteen tune "I'm on Fire" with a country twist, complete with cowboy hat and some smooth dancing steps. Toward the end of the night, he sang Release Me, which is always inluded in the set, and ended with My Way. Then the night ended, too soon for me, and I await his return next year.
I have been a fan for as long as I can remember. My mom was a huge fan so I grew up with englebert.. Finally I was able to attend a show and I cannot find the words to explain how amazing it was.. His voice and choice of songs were incredible....I left in such an upbeat mood...I only hope that I will be able to see him perform again..
NEVER think twice about seeing Englebert. Awesome......
better than expected, a nice way to spend a summer evening
I was not disappointed, Engelbert was exactly what I expected. Funny, professional, and still a great voice! He even composed himself when a group of four ladies arrived very late to their front row seats, disrupting things a bit, he gave them an irritated glance for a split second and then continued being perfect. Performer...perfect. Venue...not so much. Actually the only thing I didn't understand is why late comers were allowed to be seated instead of being made to wait at least until the song was over. Any other intimate venue like that would have made these late comers wait. I loved the fact that Engelbert made light of his age, it was refreshing...and did I mention that I was not one bit disappointed, I even caught one of his red, cologne soaked, engraved hankies, very cool.
He was great still has an amazing voice the only thing I could see wrong were at times the band especially the drummer was so loud you could not hear him sing opening act everyone in the audience had bad remarks for she was awful
the seats were wonderful, and he put on an awesome show. we've seen him several times, and each time he gets better.
OUR FAMILY HAS FOLLOWED ENGELBERT FOR 20 YEARS - HE WAS OUTSTANDING AND WE HOPE YOU INVITE HIM BACK NEXT YEAR!!
Engelbert has not lost that special ability to entertain his audience His voice is stronger today then ever. In my book he is Totally Amazing.
Although we love Englebert, there were a few songs were he was out of tune and I could not help but cringe in my seat. It was a shame as I still remember his greatness. Also, his "act" with the audience does not look seductive anymore. Because of his age, it looks so wrong - like kissing your grandfather. however, please don't get me wrong - for his age, he is still amazing - I just don't think the show is worth 60.00 per ticket anymore.
I thought Engelbert was great! I've seen him a few times. I never get tired of watching him & hear his singing. He's still got it!!!
Fantastic show, I am not an Engelbert fan, I didn't even want to be there, however, my mother (81) loves him and always wanted to see him, so how could I not bring her. He has an amazing voice, very talented man, he has a great band and a great stage presence. I can not believe that he is 72. I have to admit that I enjoyed the concert.
O my I did not sleep a wink after seeing the show. Engelbert is the greatest perfomer that I have seen. I wish i could see him every night.................
