EMMYLOU HARRIS IN CONCERT:

Throughout her long and storied career in country music, Emmylou Harris' unrestrainable voice has been an unfaltering source of inspiration. As a performer, Emmylou takes a personal tone with her fans, allowing them an intimate glimpse into her world with passionate renditions of classics like "Sweet Dreams" and "To Daddy." As she enters her fifth decade of performing, Emmylou is as radiant as ever, treating fans in 2014 to select dates on her Wrecking Ball Tour with Daniel Lanois.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Alabama-born singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris moved around the South as a child, eventually settling in to the '60s New York folk scene. Soon after, she met the legendary Graham Parsons of the Flying Burrito Brothers, who would become her country mentor. Their collaboration under his tutelage resulted in her major label solo debut Pieces of the Sky, a masterpiece that propelled her to fame. In the ensuing years, she has worked as a solo artist, a backing vocalist, and a duet partner for some of the biggest names in music. Over the course of her decade-spanning career, she has released 26 studio albums and won 13 Grammys.

    Emmylou Harris The Legend

by Jerry Zig on 3/6/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Excellent venue and an excellent show. Emmylou has lost nothing. Her voice was in her beautiful fine form. She played for 90 minutes straight and took a short break. Came back for a great encore. What a show!

    Great performance - rude seatmates

by mac on 3/6/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Emmylou was excellent. Unfortunately the venue does nothing to deter bright cellphone recordings throughout the performance. The rude person next to me insisted on using his ultra-bright cell phone to record the entire performance. My wife raised her purse beside her head to block the annoying light. No relief. I asked him to please lower the brightness. No relief. We left prior to the encore to avoid additional confrontation. My god people - get a clue. No one wants to stare at your bright cell phone during a darkened performance. Ushers seemed to ignore the recordings - and the glaring light. Likely my last time at this venue...

    An American Treasure

by James Wiley on 3/6/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Emmylou’s voice was strong and clear, a great selection of songs from her career over the years. She seems to be showing the physical effects of many years on the road, and the loss of some of her contemporaries like John Prine and Nancy Griffith makes me wonder how much longer we’ll be able to enjoy her live. Only negative was the less-than-clear sound system at Symphony Hall.

    She's The Best

by Emmylou fan on 3/6/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Hearing Emmylou live for maybe the 10th time since 1975 was a treat for sure. He voice rang strong as ever, her band complimented her well, and a good mix of newer and traditional music made the night memorable. I only wish the sound crew could have adjusted her mic down a little for better clarity. Her catting with the audience was a nice touch but mostly her voice was not discernable. I fault symphony hall for not getting the sound right, not Emmylou.

    Over the top performance!

by Mike & Joe on 3/6/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Emmylou is truly an American living legend - and her musical talents are unlike any other. It’s her uniqueness and the voice that no one could ever mistake for someone else that make her such a treasure. Her vocals and band were just amazing - and the set she chose just perfect. What an honor it was to sit and listen to her for 1.5 hours - she didn’t say a lot - was kind and so nice, but mainly focused on providing her audience with a night they will never forget. She is timeless - the diversity of the crowd from young to older in age just showed how relevant she is, in the past and today. There will never be another Emmylou Harris. Besides, he music, her unabashed activism and support for causes near and dear to her like animal rights is as much a part of her persona as her music, in many ways. If you ever have a chance to see her - just go. Thank you, Emmylou Harris for coming to grace Atlanta with your presence. Please come back soon!

The concert was good but the seats were terrible

by Barbara on 9/13/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

I had surgery a month ago and am on a walker. I bought 2 handicap seats. When we got there the seats did not actually exist, just floor space. We were told we had to sit in plastic folding chairs. I was in pain the entire concert. If I had known I was only getting floor space I would not have paid for the tickets. Before we left I talked with a manger or assist. manager and he looked at my tickets and said ticketmaster should have sold 1 actual seat and 1 folding chair seat for the companion. He gave me his card and told me to call him this week. The sound was so loud and "screechy" a lot of the time. This was the second concert at that venue that had bad sound.

    Always Amazing

by musicgirl88 on 9/13/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

The years have whittled away at Emmylou's range but she has accommodated those limits and if you aren't a true fan you probably didn't even realize the lost glory of those higher notes. So many years on the stage allows her to laughingly start a song over due to forgetting the lyrics and I loved it when she asked the lighting tech to stop shining the bright strob lighting into the audience. I am blessed to have seen her back when Spyboy and the Nash Ramblers were her backing bands. The Red Dirt Boys didn't compare but were great. She is a National Treasure and I will never miss an opportunity to see her.

    An American Master

by Jeremy on 9/13/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

At 75, Emmylou Harris is still rocking and rolling, boogie-ing and boot-scooting. She is phenomenally talented on the guitar, captivating her audience with her spellbinding abilities. But the real draw will always be THAT voice. The voice of a thousand broken hearts cutting their way through the veil to reach you, touch you, scar you, and make you better for it. Words fail to describe the magnitude of her greatness.

Good show except poor sound in building!!

by C. P. on 9/12/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

Price of ticket was too high for being in top row of Balcone when tickets were purchased receipt stated tickets were general admission at $45 paid $91 each ticket large mark up for where seat was located. Sound was too loud where we sat you couldn't understand her words she was singing a lot of ecoh from where we were seated. Band was very good. Parking lot could be paved for $10 parking price they could afford to pave it. Was like parking in a field with large rock mixed in with the gravel. Was a good show other than theather sound and gravel parking.

by RAW306!!! on 9/12/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

Miss Emmylou is still going as strong as ever!!! We also were very mindful of how personable she was to the band and the audience, I would dearly love to see her as one who could tell about her life experiences doing lectures and interviews. The only bad thing was the ac was too cold for almost everyone there!!!🥶

It was a special moment and a dream come true to see her

by Salmo on 9/12/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

Easy access to the event and parking. There were some favorites that she didn’t play. Sometimes her mic was so loud that her voice was distorted. Otherwise all good!

by Mike on 9/12/22Brown County Music Center - Nashville

Facility was wonderful. Very organized and friendly. We had a difficult time understanding Emmylou's words as she sang. May have been her unique singing style. Still, a very good experience.
