About

Before embarking on her own successful solo career, the immense talents of Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé were tapped by such artists as Professor Green, Devlin and Solange Knowles for whom she made guest vocal appearances in the recording studio and on stage. What’s more, the talented Ms. Sandé also penned tunes for the likes of Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole. The whole world took notice, however, when Emeli performed showstopping solo performances at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics. Now, it’s her time in the spotlight, as her eclectic jazz-soul pop hits like “Daddy,” “Heaven,” and “Next to Me” made huge waves in Europe and the States, and her concerts showcasing her powerful voice and skills on the keys have fans clamoring for tickets to catch her on tour. Her debut album Our Version of Events became the U.K.’s top-selling album in 2012, and in that same year, she took home Brit Awards for Album of the Year and Female Solo Artist. Emeli Sandé names musical greats such as Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone as major influences, while her own music has been compared to Alicia Keys, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Bruno Mars.

Emeli Sande is a rare treasure!!

by LeahJealene on 2/8/13El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

My husband and I have seen Ms. Sande twice at the El Rey. She has been phenomenal both times. It has been fun to watch her become more comfortable and free. It's truly a blessing to be able to witness and feel such a true talent. We plan to see her every time she's in town. It's a shame American popular radio, hasn't gotten it together enough to play her music. The only time we've heard it on the radio was driving through Ireland last year. Support this talent!!

The venue was cool, wish we could sit and stand. Emeli Sande was amazing, amazing. We need more artists like her to grace us in LA. Maybe Paloma Faith. Drinks were great, good crowd. Good opening acts. Overall great night.

    Flawless!

by Anonymous on 2/8/13El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Emeli Sande was absolutely incredible. Her voice is flawless, and she puts so much energy and effort into making her show one to remember. My friends and I were so lucky to see her up close in a small venue before she hits it big and starts playing in arenas and stadiums.

    Sande is God

by Zumthor on 2/8/13El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Got to the El Rey a little late so missed the first set. Emily King was terrific, especially her cover of the Isley brothers tune. Of course, like everyone else I was there mainly to see the other Emeli. Sande was stunning, her music better in person than on CD, and I thought the CD was perfect. What can you really say about a talent like hers except to hope she has a long career as a musician. If she decides to retire and go back to medical school, I'll be moving to Scotland so that I can be her patient. Simply put, I love Emeli Sande

    Emeli Sande is a wonder!

by EnyaLovesEmeli on 2/8/13El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

She was epic. Phenomenal voice. She did a version of Suitcase that got everyone blown away. She showed her African side some love in Wonder. Amazing songwriting ability too. She had a little story for almost every song she performed and you can tell that she loves her family which was so sweet. She played the keyboard beautifullllyyy! The show was sooooooo worth it! I wish she'd do a few more in LA soon! Love, love, love the sublime Emeli Sande. The only negative thing about the concert was the lag times inbetween! Quite long and discomforting but Emeli's performance really did make me forget all that!

    This woman can sing!

by VDiculous on 1/27/13Webster Hall - New York, NY

This is the second time I've seen Emeli Sande Live and she does not disappoint. She is incredible live and there is a joy that she has while performing that makes her sound better than her album version. In a world of auto tune that is a quality that is becoming harder to find, especially when she already sounds SO GOOD on the album version. I do have a warning though, her fans are incredibly tall. I'm not a particularly short woman and I've never had trouble seeing the stage at a concert before, but the fans at this concert were something else. It was like I was at a convention for NBA players. So, if you are short get there early and try to get as close as possible.

This is the second time I have been fortunuate enough to see Emeli Sande. I am happy that she is still playing small venues, because I am sure it won't be for much longer. Emeli has the most beautiful and powerful voice, that has moved me to tears. She outshines every other female singer! The girl is AMAZING!

    In a word - AMAZING!!

by Sandeman2013 on 1/20/13Webster Hall - New York

Emeli Sande was incredible. The songs on her album don't even do justice to how incredible her voice is live. she brings her personality and character to every song. Absolutely love her. I'm surprised she hasn't blown up more in the US, although I guess it's a good thing for me because I got to stand right in front of the stage!! Never would have happened if she was playing at MSG! A true talent.

    LOVE HER!

by Anonymous on 1/19/13Webster Hall - New York

I just can't with how amazing this woman is. My first time seeing her in concert and I wasn't expecting her to rock out on stage like she did but I don't think there was a moment during the whole concert I wasn't vibing or dancing. She's adorable on stage and the little comments she makes always made me smile. Her songs while playing piano were calming and some of my favorite moments. Her voice is so strong and full. Definitely an awesome concert and I am so glad that I went.

    She is absolutely refreshing!!!

by Nikki718 on 1/19/13Webster Hall - New York

This was my second time watching Emeli live and I have to say she is truly a talent. Its rare that you come across artists who sound aesthetically better in their live performances than they do in their recordings but she is one of them. The crowd clung to her every word and although she couldnt dance it was so cute when she tried. Emily King was the opening act and she was pretty awesome as well. I will definitely be looking for more of her. What impressed me the most was how right on que they were with their set times, because I dont see that often. Overall, great show!
