About

Before embarking on her own successful solo career, the immense talents of Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé were tapped by such artists as Professor Green, Devlin and Solange Knowles for whom she made guest vocal appearances in the recording studio and on stage. What’s more, the talented Ms. Sandé also penned tunes for the likes of Rihanna, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole. The whole world took notice, however, when Emeli performed showstopping solo performances at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics. Now, it’s her time in the spotlight, as her eclectic jazz-soul pop hits like “Daddy,” “Heaven,” and “Next to Me” made huge waves in Europe and the States, and her concerts showcasing her powerful voice and skills on the keys have fans clamoring for tickets to catch her on tour. Her debut album Our Version of Events became the U.K.’s top-selling album in 2012, and in that same year, she took home Brit Awards for Album of the Year and Female Solo Artist. Emeli Sandé names musical greats such as Joni Mitchell and Nina Simone as major influences, while her own music has been compared to Alicia Keys, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Bruno Mars.

See her before she blows up!

by KFlow on 1/18/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Emeli Sande is huge in the UK. She has the number one selling album of 2012 there, beating out Adele. However, in the US, she's relatively unknown. Yet. Given the crowd at the Boston show, small but passionate, she stands not to be unknown for very long. Emeli was full of energy, and captivating the crowd with her set. She sounded exactly like the album, passionate and full of heart. The band was small, but they definitely sounded big. The Paradise Rock Club is a small venue, known for hosting acts that end up in larger arenas in the future. If you get a chance to see her in a small area, do so. Because in the future, she will be in much larger venues.

Emeli Sande, who is very successful in her native U.K, rocked the house at The El Rey! She is an amazing performer, born to sing, with a voice of such strength and clarity. She could well be the next "Big Thing" and is more than talented to pull it off. Loved this show!!

Selah Sue and Emeli Sande- 2 incredible voices

by stilldefyinggravity on 6/14/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I'd seen both of them separately and jumped at the chance to see them again together. in my opinion, these are two of the strongest female singers in the game right now (with only Adele putting on a better display). Emeli may appeal to a broader spectrum of listener and she should do very well, but in my opinion Selah Sue is really the one to closely watch. She is so below the radar in the states right now it's crazy. Look up her Lille concert to see what she can do. See her while you can in small venues so you can say you saw her when. Her stage presence is awesome and charisma flows off of her. Good luck to both in breaking America.

An Evening with Selah and Emeli

by jazzayjas on 6/11/12Bowery Ballroom - New York

Loved both these artists so much I purchased both their albums! Selah Blue opened for Emeli Sande and she did a wonderful job. I read about her in Nylon Magazine and I was pleased to see her live at The Bowery. Emeli Sande was great on stage. She was sweet and carried the show with her great voice. I loved how she shared bits about the songs before singing them. Both artists were amazing!

Emeli Sande is a Breath of Fresh Air!

by Lolaaa on 6/8/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

The first song I heard of Emeli Sande was My Kind of Love, I became an instant fan. Her voice is Phenomenal! The control and the emotion evoked through her voice is one that draws you in and never let go! I knew from the moment I heard Emeli Sande sing, I had to see her live! The intimate setting that The Music Hall of Williamsburg provided was PERFECT! The crowd was eclectic and I felt them being moved as I was by the talent of Miss Emeli Sande! I am ashame to say that this was my first time attending an event at The Music Hall of Williamsburg. Indeed a great venue that I will certainly keep in tune with for future events! Emeli Sande is a force that the music industry was missing... She gives me hope that real music still exists. Kudos to the Gal!!

    Honest and refreshing !!!

by backwardspants on 6/8/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Really really great show! Unfortunately it didn't last long, but I guess that's due to fact she has only one album released. Anyway, the minimal band and her voice almost like an instrument blew me away. Anybody who can't relate to some of her songs is just a cynic and dishonest. I will probably be mentioning the word honest when I talk about this concert, but that's what it really was; really really honest. At least that's how it felt like. I hope I will hear more about Emeli in the future.

by Tisha2011 on 6/8/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Emeli has a power house voice that commands your attention! She does not look like the average R&B singer but has more soul that the current popular people of today. She writes all her music and just about anyone can identify with her songs. She was touching...captivating...powerful!
