If you like Elvin Bishop, a great show. I have seen Elvin 5 or 6 times over the last 40 years and he still has the passion for performing and connecting with the audience. The sound mixing was a bit off at times, but that was no fault of the performers. The opening act, the Blues Broads, was also an unexpected surprise. Overall a good Elvin Bishop concert.

    Elvin Bishop rocked Napa

by Nappanne on 11/15/11Uptown Theatre Napa - Napa

Elvin Bishop played a solid two hours of great blues, soul music and rocked the house. He had the Blues Broads play before and warm up the crowd and then he came out and did not stop . I don't know where he gets his energy. The crowd enjoyed every note and the energy was high. Did you know he was a National Merit Scholar and went to college and studied Physics? Is shows he is smart and talented.

Elvin puts on a good show and always has.

I first saw Elvin Bishop at the Fillmore West in the early '70's with Jo Baker. I liked his music and performance then and he still puts on a very entertaining show. Good songs, mostly upbeat, and his band is solid. All around good entertainment value.

    Great Entertainer!

by JAMMIN68 on 5/30/11Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano

I really enjoyed this guy. He's got a folksy presentation that works and his blues sound is total ear candy. His band is the best, everyone from the keyboardist (outstanding!), another top notch guitarist, to the trombone/ singer and drummer (sorry I can't provide names). I'm hoping to catch him again next time he passes through. Mr. Bishop is truly a blues icon and I hope we have him for many more years to come.

Elvin and band were struttin their stuff!!!!

by billythemountain on 12/4/10Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

My first time to see Elvin and the band. What a show!!! I have enjoyed Elvin's music for a long time and held my breath when I went to see him. He was even better than I had hoped. I have no idea why no venue in ATL has not hired him to play. Hopefully that will happen sooner than later. If not, I will be putting on my Travelin Shoes again, cause gotta see him again soon!! Don't miss these musicians. He didn't even play Fooled Around and Fell..... but who cares. Just let that RED DOG speak. Thanks Elvin ole friend.

    Elvin Bishop

by Rckelley on 11/28/10Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

Concert started right on time. Elvin was very crowd pleasing and played both old and new songs. His band was great. And the trombone playing was a great addition to a rock and blues band. He signed his latest released CD "Red Dog Speaks" that was being sold after the concert. I am glad Elvin made the concert even though his buddy Little Smokey Smothers had passed away just a week ago.

Elvin Bishop had an outstanding lineup.

by Anonymous on 11/15/10Montalvo - Saratoga

This was an excellent show with a very talented group of artists. I would go to more events, but they are hard to get together from Reno. Thank you very much for staging this show we enjoyed it a lot.

Elvin Bishop at Montalvo -- what could be finer?

by steeldrivingman on 11/15/10Montalvo - Saratoga

I have seen Elvin Bishop in concerts a great many times (since the 1970s in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, opening up for Stephen Stills in the Hollywood Bowl, and as a headliner). Elvin has not lost a step in all those years. It was a true privilege to be amongst the 200 or so people in such a great venue as the Montalvo Carriage House this past Saturday night (11/13/10). He is a truly awesome performer who always connects wth his audience, telling stories, sharing his music, and with his wireless setup, actually walking out into the audience playing as he wandered and bringing the music "up close and personal" to us. It was an evening that none of us wanted to end. Great music, fun, energy, the spirit and freshness that is the blues...there was something for everyone that night.

    Elvin Bishop Was Hilarious

by jeffreagan on 11/15/10Montalvo - Saratoga

I'm not a huge fan of this genre so I'm likely to be a tough critic. But I loved the guy. He comes out with this bedraggled farmer look. And then he totally rocks out. His attitude is really funny too: he reminisces about the good old days when we all enjoyed drunk driving. At one point he asked if we all liked something, I forget what it was. He didn't hear the expected response. So he called us all a bunch of liars. Then he says "Only liars like our music." It's as much a comedy routine as it is a jam. His vocals sound system sounded like it had a blown speaker. But it worked well with his gravelly voice. It reminded me of the sound at square dances my parents took me to when I was a child. The session had great musical qualities, through and through. He's no sleepy farmer. It's just an act. I bought his latest CD, which I don't do in every case.
