    Elvin!

by Tomboogity on 11/22/17Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I saw Elvin back in the late 70s and was one of the most fun shows I’ve ever seen. I was amazed how good the matured Elvin was. He’s still rockin! Go see this. I mean it. Go.

    Fun Show

by tmsoap on 5/27/14South Shore Room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe - Stateline

Elvin Bishop loves what he does and it shows. Travellin' Shoes was a great opener and the energy level stayed high through the entire show. If you are interested enough to read his reviews, go ahead and buy the ticket, you'll have fun.

    Elvin and Friends Rocked!

by Shineyhead on 3/5/14Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

This was one of the coolest and unforgettable concerts ever! I thought that the vibe was so great. It was like being in the back of the garage where everyone was jamming and having a great time doing what they do best - it didn't hurt to have 3rd row seats that were a whopping 15' away from the stage. Elvin rocks the guitar! Paul Thorn was a great warm-up. He is a fantastic musician and has a really fun and clever personality that the crowd loved. James Cotton is an amazing musician and the collaboration between Elvin and the band and James made for a magic jam. Loved the jam with Elvin and the crew, with James and Paul. It was a BLAST!

Love it when someone surprises me

by Peggypie on 3/5/14Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I went to see Paul Thorn, a fav of mine. I've been aware of Elvin Bishop since forever but not really familiar with him...was blown away! How could I love blues and not know he was a blues guy??!! Sometimes I'm just not paying attention I guess...but I am now. Paul Thorn is so worth going out of your way to see....a great talent and so much fun too if you can catch him doing a solo acoustic gig. I had only seen him with his band before and they are great but it's a whole different experience when he's by himself, loved it. Elvin Bishop kicked ass and was backed up by a very eclectic group of people who made up a really, really good band. As if we weren't having enough fun James Cotton added a whole other layer to the music with his blues harp. Towards the end Elvin invited Paul to come join them and then the octane really went up. Best $35 I've ever spent on a concert...so cheap for so much fun.

James Cotton was great. Living legend. Elvin was good, a little wacky though. For the encore he had the opener play a song that confused both the drummer and James Cotton. Kind of heartbreaking to end of a song where James Cotton put up his hands because he didn't know what was going on.

    Elvin - Still Got It!

by Fishtails444 on 9/3/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Elvin sounded and looked great. He's a lot of fun to see Live! Even took the time to sign albums afterword. Only bad thing he was on way to short. His warm up Ruthie Foster was a real downer and on from 7:30 to 8:45pm very disappointing all her songs sounded the same - BORING. That only gave Elvin 1 hour because the music must end by 10pm at this venue. Felt ripped off paying $50 to see him only for an hour. What I did hear of him was Awesome though!! 3 stars because of his time on stage.

    Ruthie Foster stole the show!

by NewRuthieFan on 9/2/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

It must be an artist's nightmare: when the opening act is better than their own. That sums up this event. I had never seen or heard of Ruthie Foster before the show, but would definitely like to see her in person again.

Elvin Bishop - Ruthie Foster at the Zoo

by KJTSV on 8/31/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Elvin Bishop was great - just what one would expect from a seasoned veteran, fun, energetic - a wild guitar extravaganza. Ruthie Foster, opening for Bishop, eclipsed the show from my point of view. Ruthie Foster was soulful, inspiring and simply awesome. The addition of Scottie Miller on keyboards just added to a night of phenomenal music. Ruthie's warm, velvet voice slips over your skin, raising goosebumps and landing right into your soul. She takes her audience to church without ever leaving your seat. Her CDs don't come close to her live performance. If you haven't had the honor of seeing this woman live - do it!

    There to hear his standards

by Walleyebait on 8/31/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Elvin Bishop did not wow the crowd. I spent the money to listen to the music from my college days and music i remembered. I was very disappointed with his performance. In the first half of the concert after many songs, Elvin said " I know you want to hear the old songs but I always want to stay current" I wanted to stand up and say thats not what I paid for. We stayed for a few more songs, and then left along with a large number of people. On the other hand Ruthie Foster was amazing. I had never heard of her before, but I purchased a cd the next day. Wow

    Bring on the Heat

by Strat1 on 8/31/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Incredibly, Elvin added heat to an already hot, steamy evening. He's a world class guitarist and the harmonic riffs with Bob Welsh were fantastic. The audience was stoked after Ruthie Foster's performance, and Elvin just fueled the fire. Bring em back soon.

    Ruthie carried the night!

by Lindy1455 on 8/31/13Weesner Family Amphitheater - Apple Valley

Ruthie foster and her band made the night, other then a few equipment issues, they were outstanding! Great vocals and nice backup made for a great opening act, I'd give her an 9.5+ ill see her again! On the other hand I'd give elvin a 5 or 6 maybe, it was nice to see a legend, but it should have been 20 years ago! The back band were very good and played well, elvin has lost the range in his voice!

    Elvin Rocks the House!!!

by slowolf on 6/5/13Avila Blues Festival - Avila Beach

Saw Elvin Bishop at the Avila Blues Festival on May 26. The festival was 3 bands, Carolyn Wonderland, Elvin Bishop, and Steve Miller Band. Elvin is an amazing entertainer and plays his guitar "Red Dog" like it's an extension of his personality. This is the 4th time I have seen him live and he never ceases to play an awesome show. His ability to jam with other entertainers is worth noting as well. At this show, he came out and jammed with Steve Miller for several sets and lit the house on fire.

    Elvin Bishop still Rocks

by MPAndgang on 4/8/13South Shore Room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe - Stateline

Amazing to see Elvin Bishop after all these years; venue was good with great views from all seats and Elvin and his band gave it their all! Sorry he didn't play "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" a personal favorite, but really enjoyed it anyway.

    Elvin Bishop Missing Women

by EcleticMusicLover on 4/8/13South Shore Room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe - Stateline

Elvin Bishop was everything I expected, except he forgot his lady backup singers. Many of his songs seemed like somthing was missing. Otherwise, he was fun.
