Well done

Elf The Musical, inspired by the hit film, is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, a young orphan child whose life is changed forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa's sack of toys one Christmas Eve. When he discovers he is human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and, in turn, helps the Big Apple rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. This all-new tour, based on the acclaimed 2024 Broadway production, was hailed by The New York Times, which said, "The show has CRACKED THE CODE OF ALL-AGES COMEDY, the kind that will leave children and grown-ups equally helpless with laughter," and celebrated in The New Yorker, "It's enough to MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS." This modern-day holiday classic, says The Daily Beast, "is a gift for kids and adults, and a very 'sparklejollytwinklejingley' night out!"
This was a well done adaptation from the movie. Our only disappointment was that there was no belching scene. It's obviously the kids favorite.
Great family outing. Really got us in the holiday mood. We had a wonderful time.
The sets were festive.....singing strong, especially the young man that played Michael....very impressive. My son and I enjoyed this show very much!
Elf was so energetic - it reached us in the last rows!!!! Cant wait to go again next year!
Probably more entertaining for kids. Not much on the line for characters, kind of just one big joy-gasm. Overall tone doesn't leave much choice for actors, as everything comes off a bit too syrupy, even a number of the Bah-Humbug moments. Music was okay, and the cast was very strong in the singing department. I was particularly impressed with the little brother - strong voice, and his lines rang more truthfully than the majority of the cast, who seemed to be overplaying quite a bit. Overall, it was mildly enjoyable. I'm glad I saw it early in the Christmas season, rather than later after being fairly saturated with Yuletide cheer :)
We had such a wonderful time.....really gets you in the Christmas Spirit!
Music was okay, a couple good songs. Female vocals were great, dancing okay. Nothing really stellar. Probably should have waited about 20 years to try to make a musical out of such a great movie. Will Ferrell as Elf is a hard act to follow...
It seemed to follow the movie storyline fairly well. I loved how the size of the elves was portrayed. The last part of the show was very fun and colorful!
This event was the perfect way for us to kick off the holiday season. Though there were many children in the audience (and it is quite suitable for children), we were a party of 4 ranging from 52-80 years old and we had a wonderful time! The casting of Buddy was perfect - remembering this actor from the Book of Mormon, too!
Good voices, no material to work with, no good songs, same sets, no dance numbers, no great costumes. When you top dollar for a musical, those are my expectations. It was rated with a good community show for children
Worst musical I have ever seen. Choreography was weak. Would not recommend.
We took our six children to see this show and they loved it! The perfect way to get into the holiday spirit! The venue was beautiful!
We felt like we were at a high school musical. The talent was not up to par to be classified as Broadway. We left at intermission.
I feel like the entire first act was about a musical that wasn't sure what it wanted to be when it grew up. It wasn't as funny as the movie, the songs weren't as well written as your average 'Family Guy' episode. There was a lot of effort made to include things from the movie that felt awkward. Then in the second act it broke ranks and quit trying so hard to follow the movie and really came alive. The second act of Elf is VERY loosely based on the movie so the writers had some freedom to write it like a musical. The songs were better, everything felt more natural. Much more enjoyable. Everything else about the experience was amazing. Performance, sets, theater, etc. NOTE ON THE SEATS (wouldn't fit below): Every seat in the Cadilac Theater is very nice, I wouldn't bother paying for premium tickets. We were in the orchestra one row behind the ulltra premium seats, not worth the extra money. Should have gotten the cheap seats. I would rate the first act 2 stars and the second act 4 stars. The first act is twice as long, but you leave with a good taste in your mouth. Gets you in the Christmas spirit, but I wouldn't reccomend going outside of the Christmas season. A
I am a 38 year old male and this was the first musical I have ever been to. Elf was an amazing show. If you like the movie, then you will love the musical. I really enjoyed how it differed from the movie in ways and in some ways it was similar. The guy who played Buddy the Elf did a great job but I think the funniest character was Santa.
We are big fans of the movie and thus had high hopes for this musical. Unfortunately it did not deliver. Overall it was an average musical, but probably would've been more fun if we hadn't seen the movie.
The play just didn't grab my attention...had front row seats, and I was still dozing off...probably much better for families with little kids.
This production tried too hard to stick to the movie and you can't out Will Ferril Will Ferril! Some good moments after intermission but songs weren't that memorable. Finally Jovie isn't quirky here, she's just mean. If you love the movie this won't be your favorite.
Elf, the movie is probably my family's favorite during the holiday season. I can not say the same for this terrible rendition of it. I bought (4) third row seats for my wife, daughter, son-in-law and myself, paying almost $400.00 total. When Elf sat behind the podium, my daughter had a great view of Elf patting the sweat off his chest. This play was so bad that we left at intermission.
It was fun for the entire family and even though it does not follow the movie exactly we all enjoyed it!
