Edmonton Oilers History
The origin of the Oilers goes back to 1972, when they were one of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association. Once the league folded in 1979, they were one of four teams absorbed into the National Hockey League. It didn't take long for them to establish dominance in the league, reeling off five Stanley Cup Championships in seven years. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the most championships since the NHL-WHA merger.
The Oilers of the '80s were a phenomenal dynasty with a roster that reads like the Hockey Hall of Fame: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, plus a stellar supporting cast. Gretzky scored 92 goals in 1982, breaking Phil Esposito’s record for number of goals in a single season. He also recorded a record 215 points in 1985. During his time with the Oilers as center and team captain, Gretzky led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). By the time Gretzky finished his time with the Oilers, he held or shared a total of 49 NHL records.
In all, the Edmonton Oilers have appeared in the Stanley Cup Final eight times.

Great evening, good seats, terrific game. Not many goals, but the right team got them at the right time. Very enjoyable. 😎⛳️🌴
Started with a great show for retirement honor ended with an evrn bigger show with Mcdavid and Draisaitl and overtime win.
All I can say is I’d go again!!!! It was my first game and to be at one of Mcdavids highlights goals will be one of the best memories I’ve ever had of going to hockey games!!!
It was me and my girlfriends 4 year anniversary and she bought me tickets to this game. It was literally the best night of my life.
Great atmosphere amazing crowd love the Rogers place and the oilers. Best time to go is for battle of Alberta lots of fire between two teams and oilers look hot this year mcdavid with the hat trick puljujarvi with three points mcdavid showing his practice with the one timers outing it too shelf great night
Oilers game was great.Facility wonderful. Sub zero outside -26 on game day. Disappointed that in this northern facility we couldnt find any hot drinks. Coffee tea hot chocolate? ?? Very few food choices as well. Did not meet the hype as advertised.Basic burgers/pizza. 1 spot had pulled pork and brisket. Thats what we ate. With 1 beer 1 water it was $48 . Eat before or after the game not here.
It was such an amazing experience! Oilers won 7-5! Couldn’t have asked for a better first game!
These seats had me right in the action behind the net where the Oilers scored 7 goals for an exciting win! Great way to spend New Year’s Eve! Highly recommend Oilers games to any sports fan. Lots of interactive games in the arena to fill the time when there is a break in play. Great atmosphere!
The escalator to the upper levels weren't working. Had to walk to the next one then walk back to our seats. Then the escalator down wasn't working after the game. People movement was terrible.
This was our first time to an Oiler game & it will be a very memorable occasion . What a great arena , the crowd was so excited to cheer on their team & it was definitely a fun night! Very Canadian🇨🇦 Rememberance Day was recognized & so were the veterans with lots of applause. Wish we could have won the 50/50 & that would have been the best!!
First visit to a game from uk had a few issues re tickets straight to phone however that was probably me as using uk site could get on canadian as system thought l was still in uk. Contacted venue -rogers place really helpful got me paper ticketsfrom box office. Game great atmosphere electric great entertainment. Everyone (staff) really helpful only issue was afterwards trying to find a taxi where it said que was taken up with uber drivers so taxis where getting moved on by the police. We walked up the road a bit a caught one from there.
Just wish it wasn’t so expensive to eat and drink at the game.
Tickets transferred smooth game was good beer was good fun time.
The man taking tickets was so helpful assisting me to open my mobile tickets. The Oilers band was a fantastic and unexpected start. The Oilers shops staff all eager to help me find what I was looking for. The Oilers were super and put on a great game. Parking in the parade was easy and close. We will definitely be back.
Pre-season battle of Alberta and the teams didn't disappoint. Even though it was pre-season Rogers was well staffed and as always the OEG made it like a reagular season feel.
Ticket was checked very easy. And price was regular. All processes was great.
Great game. Had a lot of fun for my first time at Roger's Place.
i thought it was cool, i like the M and Ms, we finished the M and Ms at the game, ok bye bye
The Venue was terrible. Roger place needs more washrooms. They only have one escalator going down when the event was over. And u have to go single file or it will shut down. It is pathetic that such a nice building can't move people after an event. Then when we finally got down the escalator it was jammed with people trying to leave the one exit by the casino. Maybe the engineers should have thought about putting in more exits that were spread out throughout the building. Also the seating in the 200's is like going mountain goat climbing. The steps are so steep. Not enjoyable. Maybe the architects should sit up in that section and see how bad it is. Pathetic waste of money for things that should be common sense
All for one and one for all. The wave. The cheers. The all around reason to celebrate.
