Outstanding performance--50 years in the making. Sound was great other than 1 hot vocal mic. Would see this show 10 times in a row!!!
Concert was oversold. Standing room only. Got there at 6 and still no availability. No accommodations for handicap persons. A complete waste.
We had a very good time, this concert was on of the best we ever had,
I love piano players and one of my favorite is Eddie Palmieri even at the age of 76 his stamina and savy are amazing.
The food was great, Eddie Palmeri was fantastic, and so was the rest of the band. I didn't like that the crowd was standing on the dance floor while people were dancing. It was annoying bumping into people. We also had a dinner table by the dance floor which did not allows us to fully enjoy the view of the band. But the music was great before the concert and after the concert. The people seated by our table were also very nice.
Amazing orchestra!!! The percusion was incredible and of course the pianist too! Cant wait to see them again
Grandpa still gots the chops, what a pleasure! The band was superb, Jimmy Bosch was a nice surprise and Nelson Gonzalez on cuatro brought back lots of fond memories of the old band and Eddie's inovative arrangements! Dancers galore!
Absolutely great!! We just loved it and want to do it again.
First time to BB King and couldn't have picked a better event! Palmieri and his musical troupe "rocked"!
Eddie and his orchestra did not disappointment. They started out heavy and never let up, performing all their greatest salsa hits with Eddie's beautiful improvisations in between. The venue is intimate and allows for the audience to be up close and personal during the show, with the option of cabaret seating surrounding the dance floor. The best live salsa show I have ever attended! It was a privilege to see Eddie and his orchestra live.
This was my first Salsa event and I enjoyed it very much. The energy in the place was palpable!
First, the venue and its service has improved. Our server was helpful and dedicated. The drinks were excellent. Second, Palmieri was performing better than many musicians half his age. He clearl was having fun on the bandstand and his joy was infectious. His mastery of the keyboard was present throughout the night. He played just as well as well as he did in December at Lincoln Center last December for the $150 ticket holders than for us at a fraction of that price at BB Kings. (Then again, Rose Hall doesn't serve food or booze.) I spent a lot of money and would gladly do so again for another Palmieri event here. Palmieri is a NEA Jazz Master and his music is a gift to humanity.
I was disappointed because there was no MC at all; I didn't know who was on stage playing. The best group was the first one who played until 7:30ish pm. They were good and people were dancing. The second group - who knows who they were. As of Eddie Palmieri, if and when he went on stage, there was no introduction. We left the amphitheatre by 10:15pm
Unfortunately the crowd was not. First of all, the sound was too loud, half the amphitheater was empty and during Claudia's performance there was too much talking. When Eddie came on, people started to get up and take photos and videos from the front stage, not only blocking the view of those who paid for $84.00 seats but also not allowing us to enjoy the concert. It was a horrible crowd. I recently went to see Tony Bennett and if a cell phone had gone off during his performance, the whole amphitheater would have heard it.
The music was great! Claudia's performance before Eddie's was one of a kind. Eddie and his band performed excellent. The only thing I would've done different from an advertising stand point is that the place was maybe 1/4 full. That's a shame, because Claudia and Eddie are two jewels of their genre. I know Eddie Palmieri is one of the best all time! The only place I heard the event advertised was NPR. If I could rate the promoter of this event I would give her/him a 0!
The man we call "El Maestro" and known as the "Sun of Latin Music" reminded us at BB Kings that he is the true master of his realm, Latin "Salsa" and Latin "Jazz". Yeah there was a tech glitch, yeah the crowd rushes the floor, but these things can't be helped. Once Eddie and his band hit that stage and are on the track, DON'T STOP THE TRAIN!! The energy, excitement and pure genius of his compositions leave no room for failure, no room for, well, I had an OK time.. THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN SIT STILL AND NO WAY YOU CAN LEAVE THAT SHOW WITHOUT BECOMING A MEMBER OF EDDIE'S CULT!! Once you dive in, you are baptized, and man, it's just great, join the religion. The man and his music, it don't get no better! Peace out
AMAZING AS USUAL NEVER A LET DOWN! NOSTALGIC~! A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
If i could change just one thing, it would be to keep people away from the stage. I purchased a V.I.P. booth which unfortunately was a waste, because when everybody got up to the stage, the vision was blocked. When I asked the waitress if these people were allowed to stand in front of the stage, she assured me that it was fine. For that reason alone, why did I need to purchase VIP?!! I could hae bought cheaper tickets and got the same advantages as everyone else.
Great music...what else to expect. Wished for more tunes.... and please, I don't need to know who is in the audience.
One of the best shows ive seen at bb kings (and i have been to dozens). The tables removed for a dance floor as palmieri entered the dancing stopped for a moment and the people just stood in awe paying tribute to the great palmieri. At some times the floor was so crowded as it was hard to stretch out as you danced. BB should do this more often, it added much more audience/performer interaction . As far as the music, what more could be said of the musical legend palmieri has sustained throughout his career. BB should have him there much more often as the place was packed standing room only , three deep at the bar, it had to be great for buisness that night and i have at least 20 people i need to bring next time palmieri is there so please bring him back sooner than later.
