About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

  • Amazing Eddie

by gilli on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The man never lets you down, he was as brilliant as always and a breath of fresh air. Loved the show, and am so glad he chose Chicago so we could go and see him. My only grip is why choose the United Center - half of it was unsold for one reason or another, he deserves better I think - unless there are too many people out there who don't know/like him - in which case they don't know what they are missing. Thankyou Eddie for a wonderful evening, my stomach hurts from the laughing!!!!

  • Show=Great, Venue=Horrible

by IzzardFan on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Eddie was great except he didn't dress as usual. He had new routines and brought in some of the old stuff too. However, the United Center was so uncomfortable. Sitting sideways to try and see for two hours sucked. Would love to see him again in a smaller venue such as Rosemont Theater.

  • One of the funniest men alive

    by Trev1714 on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie Izzard is one of the most intelligent and masterful comedians of his time. Unlike some comedians, he thrusts himself into the show without a script or over-preparation. He abides by a set outline to steer the show from a beginning to an end, but deviates with brilliantly quick jokes and happenings that allow for a more personal experience for both comedian and audience. He even mentions other famous routines he's done in the past throughout the show, especially in his encore when man lands on the moon and meets God, Darth Vader, and Pink Floyd. His ability to self-deprecate and laugh with the audience at himself gives him a charm and allure unmatched by other comedians. And of course, his accent is a total plus for an American captivated by the English. I would recommend this show for anyone, minus the kid's who might not get or appreciate Izzard's hilarious usage of f-bombs.

  • Eddie Izzard is Amazing!

The show was fantastic! Eddie is as funny as EVER! The audience was great, and really into the show. The seats were excellent, not a bad one in the arena. His set made you feel like you were in the front row!!!! Can't wait to see him again, and get his DVD due out in Feb

  • 25 minute break in the middle lost momentum

by earnshavian on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

First half was really funny but a 25 minute break really slowed the enthusiasm of the crowd and the gags grew a little stale.

Eddie was amazing! The jazzchicken was the best. I would see him again.

  • "Monkey, Monkey, Monkey, YOU!"

by Anonymous on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Eddie was amazing! A ton of great new topics! Brought back a few familiar topics, but put a fresh ("Everything in here IS FRESH!!! I will do well here!") new spin on it! Great job! My face still hurts from laughing all night! Just saw that there was a terms and conditions....Eddie is right! NO ONE reads those....EVER! (itunes agreements) (At the Encore) Audience member: DO "Cake or Death!" Eddie: I know what you mean, but I'm not going to....Fuck off!....(everyone laughs) I'm not a jukebox!

He completely outdid himself with this one! It was hilarious and I wish I could see it again and again. I really hope that they come out with a DVD for this one! This is his 2nd show I've seen live and I can't believe I missed the other ones before.

  • Eddie Excellent

by mahji on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderfully weird. Took us to places that never existed before. Venue: Great traffic control inside and out. There was some echo on the sound system a couple of times.

  • Eddie Izzard Rocks!!

by Suburbanfans on 1/9/10United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and two adult sons and I looked forward to this event for months. We had very high expectations because we have been fans of Eddie for over 10 years, and he did not disappoint for a moment. First time seeing him live and we couldn't have asked for anything more. How he keeps his energy at that level for two hours is beyond me. His wit and humor kept us all laughing the whole show What a great start to his tour. A night we will relive with laughter for a long time.

Despite the uncomfortable chairs, and the pain in my side from laughing so hard, it was worth trogging through four feet of snow and risking life and limb to see him!!!
