Any evening at the Bowl is a delight. The crowd was well behaved. Even the Star Wars nerds who showed up with light sabers. These programs at the Bowl of popular films with live orchestration are proving to be a real treat. Hoping they offer Lawrence of Arabia next season.
Was absolutely wonderful! Took 2 teenage boys, and they loved it! Watching/listening to the L.A. Philharmonic play to E.T. was very exciting. I really liked all the big screens around the bowl, plus the sound system was awesome. It's incredible how the orchestra can play the music EXACTLY how it's in the movie.
Magical. The best way to see such a classic film! We would see it every year! Please do more of these!
Watching E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial with a live orchestra is absolutely fantastic. The music and the movie blended seamlessly as we even forgot at times that there was a live orchestra playing. There's nothing better than spending a warm, summer evening under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl watching a Hollywood classic. This was a fun event for all ages. We shuttled in from Lakewood and were shuttled back out. Great event. Would recommend to anyone.
The whole experience was great. Have the orchestra play along with the movie, took this all time classic to the next level.
Sitting in an audience under the stars with California Trees serving as a backdrop with the Santa Monica mountains under moonlight was the perfect setting for E.T. at the Hollywood Bowl. Beautifully accompanied by the strings and brass of the LA. Philharmonic, the audience was in for a treat as they relived the magic of the movie that broke box office records and filled the evening with laughter, charm and tearful goodbyes.
We would recommend seeing E.T. on the big screen if the HB decides to do it next Summer. It's a very fun and enjoyable event. However, the HB needs to have a minimum age requirement of 8-9 years of age; the occasional crying child was a little disruptive at times.
The voices from the actors on the screen were out of sync with their lips! This was a total distraction to what otherwise would have been a magical evening, instead I spent a ton of money to watch a train wreck.
I loved it, it was great. If you can experience it, don't hesitate, it is worth it.
The orchestra was amazing, definitely something to do with your friends and kids! It was awesome watching the expression on kids faces watching ET for the first time! Cannot wait for the next movie
Seeing E.T. with a live orchestra was incredible! The Hollywood Bowl was the perfect location for this incredible event. Being outside, underneath the stars was the best way to watch the film. Hearing a live orchestra play such an incredible soundtrack was the best part of the night. While I love the movie, I mostly there to listen to the music. The Hollywood Bowl has always been a fantastic place for entertainment. I cannot wait to visit again!
Watching E.T. at the Hollywood Bowl was fantastic!! The LA Phil Harmonic Orchestra playing the score was just phenomenal.

We had fun! So special to watch E.T. With live music. The orchestra had a super nice touch on this event. The screen too little, is like watching on your iPad:)) but I did not mind. Was a great experience to have the crowed cheer at the scenes that are so much loved by all of us in this movie. The sound was excellent and was so floweless that you could not tell that the orchestra was there but a happy feeling to see them performing exquisitely. I would go agian. Did not give 5 star because it was not wow like other shows I have seen. But all my support and applause!
A great event for the whole family. My 10 year old daughter along with a colllage buddy and his daughter had a wonderful time watching the big screens and listening to John Williams magical score.
Best show at the bowl! I am a huge fan of John Williams, so being able to see E.T. with the live orchestra playing the score was a once in a lifetime event. I hope they continue to play his music at the bowl each year whether it be through a live orchestration of one of his films or a John Williams tribute concert. So good!!!
Watching ET for the first time in around 25 years with my3 young boys was unforgettable. Perfect weather + hollywood bowl + great movie and score + live orchestra = a winner. I can't wait for the next movie
Outdoors, cool, movie, food, and live music! What more could you ask for in life!
We use events like these to introduce our children to classical style music and performances. The love arriving early, picnicking, playing card games and ultimately the performance itself.
Loved watching E.T. at the Hollywood Bowl with my 9 year old son. It was my sons first time watching the movie and he enjoyed it as much if not more then me. We took the park and ride shuttle which is 5 minutes from our house so we avoided all that crazy traffic before and after the show.
