About

Alternative rock/metal band Drowning Pool rocked countless fans at the 2001 Ozzfest Tour, helping propel their debut album Sinner to platinum status in just six weeks. That good news shortly turned tragic following the death of lead singer Dave Williams, but the ever-resilient Drowning Pool has continued to sell tickets under a revolving list of singers, including Jason Jones (2003-2005), Ryan McCombs (2005-2011) and Jasen Moreno (2011-Present). The band is considered one of the best metal bands in concert and have played on multiple Ozzfest Tours. They released their fifth studio album, "Resilience," with new singer Moreno in 2013. "Resilience" features "In Memory Of..." dedicated to the late singer Williams and released on the 10th anniversary of his death, as well as "Saturday Night" and "One Finger and a Fist," which both will be popular at upcoming shows.

Drowning Pool formed in Dallas, Texas, in the second half of the 1990s with guitarist C.J. Pierce, bassist Stevie Benton and drummer Mike Luce. After releasing the platinum-selling "Sinner," Drowning Pool recorded one album with Jason Jones ("Desensitized") before doing two recordings ("Full Circle" and "Drowning Pool") with McCombs. After McCombs decided to rejoin SOiL (who he previously recorded and played with), Drowning Pool connected with Moreno, who joined the band on the road and in-studio in New Jersey for the recording of "Resilience." Drowning Pool is a band that continues to overcome incredible and sometimes horrific obstacles, such as the death of singer Dave Williams; yet they continue to trend forward and serve as one of modern rock's best live acts.

Energy from the band was awesome

by Catladyofdoom on 6/29/13The Paramount - Huntington

Drowning Pool brought it. I'm normally not a fan of replaced members, but Jason does really well giving the DP songs justice. CJ was really cool hanging out at the merch booth, very approachable and down to earth.Great set list, lots of new stuff. Love how the drummer interacts with the crowd too. The crowd itself sucked but I heard that Dave Matthews was in town too so maybe thats why it was a smaller crowd.

    Drowning Pool was Incredible

    by John88LI on 6/27/13The Paramount - Huntington

The concert as a whole was incredible right from the start. "Symphony of Malice" was a huge surprise. I never heard of them and they came out with some intense guitar riffs that started the concert off great. "Even The Dead Love a Parade" kept the intensity going with their deep bass sounds and vocal sound. The biggest amazement that I had out of the entire concert was "Exilia" . There "Korn" like bass and guitar tones accompanied by the "Flyleaf" like vocals of their lead vocalist blew me away. Halfway thru their set they took me from not knowing who they were to die hard fan. "Eye Empire" brought us to our much anticipated headliner with a sound that made me think i wasnt gonna have enough strength in my neck to head-bang thru the "Drowning Pool" Set. The best part of "Eye Empire" was the vocalist and his connection he made to the audience. At the end of the set he came down and shook the hand of everyone in the first 3 rows of people. Finally "Drowning Pool" came on to the stage. I was skeptical of them having a new vocalist with the band but that was immediately put to rest with the start of them playing "Step up" He brought back a sound that I honestly missed from "Drowning Pool" The old vocalist was good but he put a kinda twang on the sound to make it sound more of a "Nickel Back" kinda sound, not that they aren't good, it just wasn't "Drowning Pool" Jasen Moreno has brought it back. He crush the old songs as well as the new ones off their "Resilience" album. He connected with the crowd and went over to individuals telling to put their hands up to really experience the music and let go. Finally "Bodies" came on and Jasen had the entire crowd start the song then out of complete surprise all of the vocalists from the other bands came out and sang the song with them which was absolutely unexpected and incredible.

Great 1 hour show at the Stone Pony

by ElectricFuneral65 on 5/1/13Stone Pony in NJ - Asbury Park

I have seen Drowning Pool several times with the original singer and with two others over the last 10 years. They have a tight group now and I think the new singer Jasen Moreno sounds great and the show was very good when I saw them 3/1/13 in NJ. I brought my son with me and he spent time talking with CJ and Jasen after the show and they signed autographs and were very accessible. I really like the new CD and hopefully it will get the air time that it deserves.

by MNMandi on 8/9/12Empire Fair - Sioux Falls

So i've been a fan of previous singer Ryan McComb's since he was in Soil but found out the hard way he went back...like last year! but thats awesome but wth... would not have know that since the band photo still features him when I looked up the show in Sioux Falls 8-4-12 and bought tickets misleadingly going to hear McComb and its some imcomparable dude instead!! sorry dude(new singer)...u have more talent than me but not the same as Ryan and Dave. @ least Deuce was incredible and Filter rocked! Good show

by birtikidis on 4/17/11State Theatre - St Petersburg

Like the venue.. Smallish, but large enough. We missed Static Cycle... TrustCompany was awesome. Very good set. Thought they should have played later in the lineup. Was not impressed with either Pop Evil or A New Revolution. Drowning Pool was awesome. Sound was great. I was able to get right to the stage. Close enough to hand the singer a Jaeger Bomb (which I did). I would go see them again

The sound was off, they must have been having audio problems. not the bands fault, i know this. i was not pleased with the length of time it took for each band to finally get on stage. i didn't even get to see drowning pool, because i waited over a half hour from the time Popevil played and drowning pool still hadn't come out. I'm not sure if it was band error or piere's error to get ppl to drink more, but it was ridiculious.

Drowning Pool Tore the roof off!

by SteveO079 on 4/11/118 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

I was blown away by how loud and hard Drowning Pool rocked out. Awesome in a smaller venue like 8 Seconds Saloon. The only bad thing about the show is that it had to end. The supporting bands were very good also Pop Evil rocked it out pretty hard and was a great set up band for Drowning Pool. If they ever come back I'll definately be there.

The best concert I have been to in years. The bands all getting together to do Bodies at the end of the night was a perfect ending to an amazing night. I would definately go see them again.

Pop Evil and Drowning Pool Awesome!

by noturmom on 4/10/11Piere's - Fort Wayne

all the bands rocked, but the lead singer..Leigh?.. from Pop Evil really took it over the top and made it unforgettable! He sang the last song standing on the bar at Piere's in the middle of the room/crowd, then shared his bottle pouring drinks for fans, posing for photos, shaking hands, hugging people. At the end of Drowning Pools set, on their last song "Let the bodies hit the floor", all of the bands were on stage singing together, that was so memorable. After the show was over and everyone was leaving I stopped to buy a Pop Evil T-shirt and there was the lead singer from Pop Evil helping to sell and talking to fans. I had never seen any of the bands before, but I am now a fan and look forward to seeing them again, especially Pop Evil.

    Drowning Pool always gives 100%

by fletcha2010 on 4/8/118 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

I've seen Drowning Pool several times, at this venue and others. They always play hard and bring their best. The only reason I didn't give this show five stars is because of the venue, 8 Seconds Saloon. They jam so many bands into the evening that you end up sitting around for half the night waiting for the headliner. This show included one local band, Spanky's Clubhouse, that you can see in town any weekend, a newer band I wasn't familiar with, Static something or other, Trust Company, Anew Revolution and Pop Evil. I'm not opposed to getting value for my dollar, but 5 opening bands is a bit much. Drowning Pool didn't take the stage until after 11:30 p.m. Just because we like to rock hard, doesn't mean we don't have day jobs.

    Smashing

by DPFanMan on 3/28/11First Avenue - Minneapolis

Everything about this event was outstanding. I liked their lyrics, all of the screaming, the cosmopolitan group of people who are the group's hard core fans, the dancing, etc. Bring 'em back soon, please. My favorite moment: There was a large body-builder guy standing next to me during the performance who had a big walking stick. The only thing he said/yelled repeatedly, while pounding his stick on the floor, was "I am Horny Man." All of the young ladies loved him.

I drove 2hrs with a friend of mine to go see Drowning Pool down at Piere's! They were definately worth what I paid to see them!! This was also my first time seeing them, long time fan, first time to see them and it was just unbelieveable. Thanks again You guys Rock!
