Balance and Composure were soooo freaking good

    by Beth099 on 5/22/11Trocadero - Philadelphia

I would recommend Balance and Composure over Dredg! Those guys were so good. They should of headlined. I would see them again! Get those guys to come play Philly again. I just can't get over the show Balance and Composure played. I bought there new cd and it is so good! Singer has a really cool voice too. Very tight band! Deer Hunter was great too! They had a really neat sound

    Dredg Rocked The Troc !

by Anonymous on 5/22/11Trocadero - Philadelphia

The opening acts were Great. Balance and Composure was amazing and so were The Deer Hunter ! The Trophy Fire did not play because they got stuck in the New York City traffic for 4 hours but i talked to all the members of the band and brought a CD.. Cool guys definitely check them out. Dredg Sounded Amazing. The only complaint I had was that they only played for an hour. They played like four new songs.. They should have played more songs from El cielo.. Overall this is one of the Best Live bands to see.One of the most Creative bands with a very layed back fan base.

First time, not the last time

    by darkpatriot85 on 5/22/11Trocadero - Philadelphia

This was the first time I ever saw Dredg live, and it was appropriate that I see them in such a historic Philadelphia building. Since I'm still learning all of the song titles and the lyrics I was only able to sing along with two of them (Bug Eyes & Of The Room - my two favorite songs). The crowd was surprisingly diverse with the very energetic crowd on the floor and the more laid back people, like myself, up in the balcony. To be honest I took a balcony seat because I want to have some beer while watching the show. Nothing better in the world than watching your favorite band and pounding back a few brewskies. The band's only problem is that they should be playing larger places. Why is it that they aren't bigger than they are now? Dredg is such a breath of fresh air compared to the cookie-cutter hipster bands who think they're being revolutionary and different. It's also great to hear something so complex sounding coming from just four guys and they play it very simply. Is it because they don't have the GQ look? Oh, well. I prefer to be around intellectual music fans than those who just buy it because "it's the in thing right now". Overall, if they were to come back I would definitely go see them again.

    the dear hunter!

by mietchie on 5/22/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

When I go to a concert, I want to see a show. The opening act was pretty good, best listened to while outside the venue smoking a cig. The dear hunter's performance was AMAZING!!! Hands down best live performance I've seen. And this from a girl who had front row seats to paul mccartney :P Oh and the dredg what surprisingly talented. I had never heard of them before this show but I would listen to them for sure after this. The paradise lounge hhas a pretty decent lighting system. They just need to utilize it better.

    Beautiful

by Ellehcim13 on 5/20/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

The opening band sucked, but when The Dear Hunter started playing, my night got exceptionally better! They played an amazing set, and once dredg started playing my night had been complete. Dredg also played an aaaaamaaaazing set :) So much fun! and I love that venue. I've seen 4 shows there.

    DREDG destroys Boston

by TOrf on 5/20/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Dredg has never once disappointed in the 5 times I've seen them. With the release of their new album "Chuckles & Mr Squeezy", I was a bit apprehensive. Their "new sound" on record is a big departure from their more organic art-rock roots. I wondered if their sound or show would be different from the past... They played 4 songs from the new album...and far exceeded my expectations as the new stuff sounded great with Dino's killer drum fills and a more guitar-heavy presence! They absolutely destroyed the crowd with classics "Bug Eyes", "Of The Room", "Information", and despite going over the Paradise's 11pm curfew, they added in their amazing closer: "THE CANYON BEHIND HER". This band is amazing & I will continue to go see them as long as they keep coming to Boston! Pure and simple: I have seen well over 500 bands in my lifetime of show going....along with Exlpolsions in the Sky, Neurosis, Deftones, Mars Volta, and Porcupine Tree...DREDG remains in my ranks of one of the best live bands.....PERIOD.

    Dredg never ceases to amaze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

by skwatz on 5/11/11Roxy Theatre - West Hollywood

Dredg was amazing, once agian. However, I was extremely disappointed with The Dear Hunter only being allowed to do four songs......They are extremely talented and entertaining, and they deserve to play a full set.

    Dredg at the Roxy

by MathHorseman on 5/6/11Roxy Theatre - West Hollywood

The set list was one of the best. They played many old favorites and a few good songs from the new CD. Great vibe! Even though I was mostly sober.

Dredg/RX Bandits bring a very versitile show !

by Kardiak on 8/19/09Wonder Ballroom - Portland

This show was great. i tend to go to a little more heavy variety of show, but this show was great. I have seen Dredg twice and they haven't disappointed me either time. They played a lot of old songs with some new material. But the thing that I enjoyed the most was the creative transition into the last song. The stage crew literally dismantled the drum set while the drummer was still playing. When they pulled is snair he turned to the side and started immediately playing the keyboard as his portion of the last song of the night. The RX Bandits also brought some creativity to the show with the entire band playing a drum solo together.

    Dredg killed it...

by WWells on 8/16/09Wonder Ballroom - Portland

Dredg was on point. Best show I have ever seen them play by far. They played a good mix of songs from the new album, as well as older songs like Bug Eyes and Zebraskin. This is not unexpected as I have seen them before in various venues around Oregon. However RX Bandits were very good as well. They have a Sublime-ish sound but are very clean and polished sounding. Overall, I would give the show 5 stars.

dredg is such an amazing band

    by bg6533 on 8/16/09Wonder Ballroom - Portland

it's too bad so few people dare to stray beyond what's played on mainstream radio. dredg is an amazing band and their live performance was everything i could have wanted it to be. instead of being confined to a definable genre or conforming to routine song arrangements they explore various tempos and styles throughout individual songs. this is one of their greatest strengths but also why they don't tend to write "catchy" songs... i consider myself a pretty big fan and will concede that some of their arrangements are lost on me but given the energy and fervor of the live show i found myself getting into the few songs i tend to skip while listening to their albums... and the songs i already loved just blew my mind! the only disappointment from the show was that their set didn't include "mourning the morning" from their new album and my girlfriend really wanted to hear it

    Great show!

by Thehomiecdub on 8/16/09Wonder Ballroom - Portland

As tall as lions had great energy for such a short set, but it was Rx bandits who really rocked out and reached out to the crowd for crowd involvement. They are amazing musicians who can play anything they made in the studio perfect live. Dredg on the other hand was less than impressive, their older shows were much better. Just being real.

    Rx never disappoints

by funknjunk on 8/16/09Wonder Ballroom - Portland

I was really surprised by As Tall as Lions. They were the opener and they played about 5 songs. I really got into at the end. The trumpet player even came down after one song and my friend started talking to him, they seem like nice guys. But the show was all about the Bandits for me. Once they started playing my feet wouldn't stop moving. I absolutely love their jams. Mientras La Veo Soñar and Bring our Children Home was just plain sick. I was grooving like there was no tomorrow. I love the Bandits.

This was my first time seeing Dredg live, and they are AMAZING. So down to earth, and they love their fans. Got to talk to them after the show and caught one of their drum sticks. Everyone go see Dredg! They are the best!!

RX Bandits, awesome. Opening for Dredg, not cool.

by Troglodyte on 8/3/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

RX Bandits were absolutely amazing; the venue was superb and they put on a dynamic show. Unfortunately, they're the OPENER for Dredg, and judging by what I saw, it should have been the other way around. The crowd thinned by 50% after RX was done, and their short set with no encore was disappointing. RX should lose Dredg and tour solo; I would have paid more for a show without Dredg.

Zechs Marquise was amazing and Rx kicked ass!!!!

by Serv on 8/2/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

We unfortunately arrived a bit late and missed a bit of Zechs Maruise's set (the opening band that we actually went for), but the bit we did catch was amazing. Especially during the last song (I don't remember which one); they brought out the guitarist/lead-singer from Rx Bandits, Matt Embree, to play along with them. The result was a mind blowing guitar call-and-response between Matt and Marcos Smith (the guitarist from Zechs). I met the band after and got their autographs and all that groupie nonsense that I can't help. They were incredibly easy-going and what-not. Soon after, Rx took the stage and began the royal ass-kicking. I wasn't exactly too familiar with their songs as I could've been, but that did not stop me from enjoying the show at all. The highlight of their overall performance was Matt Embree; he is sincerely the most "down-to-earth" person I've ever observed. He dedicated a certain song to his mother (who was standing stage-side and looked as proud as any mother could ever look). He also was wearing a waist accessory that I don't know the name of but it was for a world-wide organization, whose name or purpose i cannot remember. During their last song, titled "Only For The Night" off the album "...And the Battle Begun", they brought out Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (the drummer from Zechs Marquise and percussionist/multi-instrumentalist for The Mars Volta) for a sick ass drumming session between himself, Rx drummer Christopher Tsagakis and Rx guitarist/keyboardist (more like multi-instrumentalist) Steve Choi. The result was incredible, to say the least. We skipped Dredg.
