First concert, better than expected.
by JaniTorisen on 10/4/09Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5I'd never been to a real concert before in my life, and was excited that two of my favorite bands, Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica, would be playing.
The first thing I noticed was how small the venue was and how close to the stage I could get. It was quite an experience being within a dozen feet of those guitar gods. The opening act, Taking Dawn, was an excellent choice, and I appreciated their interaction with the crowd.
While Sonata Arctica could've played longer, they did pick some of their best songs to play, and the sound quality was incredibly clear and not too loud.
Dragonforce was truly amazing, the stage setup was stellar. The small size meant it had a very personal feel, and the long setlist (compared to Sonata, at least) made it feel like the concert went on forever. ZP's water throwing at the crowd was fun to see as usual, and Herman's crowd-surfing while continuing to play his lead was pretty darn cool.
