  • Awesome show full of energy and fun time!

by MikeTac on 8/1/17Culture Room - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Great fun band full of positivity and energy. Put on a great show and I don't even follow them too much but I'm familiar with their style of playing and loved the show even if I didn't really recognize any of the songs! A must see live and it's fun to see the guitarists trying to one-up each other with the amazing solos!

These guys are incredibly talented and so brilliant to hear live. Honestly their live versions are better than studio in my opinion, but what struck me is how they really love their fans. They made an effort to interact with them every moment of the show.

  • DragonForce @ the Masquerade

by Sylestia on 7/30/17The Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The openign act, Once Human was amazing. DragonForce was amazing! The venue, was meh. This was in the Heaven room at the Masquerade. I've been to one of the other rooms which was a bi-level and had thought all the rooms would be the same. This was a single floor and it was really hard to see the band, especially one where you go to see them play/shred guitar. The band constantly tried to get people to raise their hands in the air and then you couldn't see the stage with so many tall people in front of you and people in front of you trying to record, watching at least 1/3 of the show through other people's cell phones while they try to record. I was also surprised to see people allowed to light actual lighters in the place. About the seats (Since there is a limit of characters.): The Heaven room only has 1 floor. This drastically removed the ability to look down over the lighting (for those with light sensitivities, I had to wear my sunglasses the whole show), or being able to look down and actually watch the guitarists shred, which is the whole reason you go to see DragonForce. I would see them again if they played in the 2-story room, but not Heaven.

  • Dragonforce good Masquerade bad

by RSHELLNUTT on 7/29/17The Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

I had no idea the masquerade moved to underground Atlanta. What a tomb, nothing was open,no restaurants near the event . Very disappointed in the "new Masquerade ". Sound was ok . I will never go back

Amazing to see these guys play live! Show was a ton of fun!

  • An amazing performance at close range

by WilliamSage on 7/25/17Brighton Music Hall - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The band is paractically on your lap and they play like rock gods on speed with fingers of flame. The singer can break a bulletproof window with his voice. They entertain and involve the audience every step of the way

  • Dragonforce was unforgettable!!!

by Misexcited on 10/23/11Gramercy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first concert ever. And Dragonforce did an amazing job. They made us all laugh and ended it with the song we all wanted to hear. They have so much skill and energy. If they come back to New York I will definitely be seeing them again.

  • DragonForce-A Legend in the making!

by jab13bull on 11/3/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was worth every inch of the $5 Footlong Subway sub I had to eat for the tickets. Truthfully I'd have paid the regular price and then some. To see this band up close at a small venue was a totally different experience than the last time I saw them (Ozzfest '06). Herman Li & Sam Totman are guitar-soloing prodigies. This band's unique formula of heavy metal; mixing Classic, Progressive, and Speed Metal is a true adrenaline rush to hear performed live. If you think "Through the Fire and Flames" is awesome when you're running through it on your Guitar Hero game, then you'll truly be floored to see it performed right before your eyes in all its glory!

  • dragonforce and taking dawn was awesome

by mysticcastle on 10/19/09House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

i loved it!! will attend a dragonforce and taking dawn concert again

  • Dragonforce best live show I've seen!!!!

by Spectre2112 on 10/13/09The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Dragonforce puts on the best shown I have seen. They take so much energy on stage and play the fastest music I have heard and seen. Watching major guitar shredding to that long of a period is truely amazing. Every member of the band carried this energy, not just the Sam and Herman. The keyboard player bought out the keytar and started shredding out keyboard solos alongside the guitarists. Taking Dawn was a solid performance as the first opener and Sonata Arctica was a great opener, much better than I expected. I would see Sonata Arctica again for sure. But Dragonforce was just freaking awesome.

  • Sonata Arctica + Dragonforce = AMAZING!

by Katana on 10/8/09Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

This was the second concert I have ever been to in my life and it was so much fun! I'd never heard Taking Dawn before but Sonata Arctica and Dragonforce are two of my favorite bands, so i was really happy that I got to see them. My only complaint was that the drums were amped up so loud that you couldn't hear the lyrics very well. For Sonata Arctica it wasn't bad, but for Dragonforce and Taking Dawn it was very hard to understand them. Other than that, it was amazing! Sonata Arctica was a lot of fun to watch, very funny and they played several of my favorite songs. Thank you so much for playing "Full Moon!" That is my aboslute favorite song! And the keyboardist for Dragonforce was a riot! I could not believe how fast he was playing for several of those numbers! Thanks once again for an amazing experience!

  • Taking Dawn - Sonata Arctica - Dragonforce: A+

by Kentworth on 10/8/09Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

All three bands had amazing talent and put on a great show. However, Sonata Arctica and Dragonforce were particularly fantastic. Sonata rattled off several of their hit tracks, and Dragonforce blew the crowd away with phenomenal performances and hilarious antics.

  • great show

by shapeshafter on 10/6/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

great show, love this band, they have a really good time playing and it shows. sound shoulda been better tho saw them at the house of blues in december 08 and the lead guitars really ripped thru the rest of their huge, busy, sound. this time i had difficulty hearing some solos and the sound guy appeared to be behind when switching sound levels on the instruments on occasion but still a fantastic time ill be back whenever they come thru. also they never played soldiers of the wasteland which is my favorite dragonforce song but i aint complainin great show great setlist

  • First concert, better than expected.

by JaniTorisen on 10/4/09Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I'd never been to a real concert before in my life, and was excited that two of my favorite bands, Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica, would be playing. The first thing I noticed was how small the venue was and how close to the stage I could get. It was quite an experience being within a dozen feet of those guitar gods. The opening act, Taking Dawn, was an excellent choice, and I appreciated their interaction with the crowd. While Sonata Arctica could've played longer, they did pick some of their best songs to play, and the sound quality was incredibly clear and not too loud. Dragonforce was truly amazing, the stage setup was stellar. The small size meant it had a very personal feel, and the long setlist (compared to Sonata, at least) made it feel like the concert went on forever. ZP's water throwing at the crowd was fun to see as usual, and Herman's crowd-surfing while continuing to play his lead was pretty darn cool.

  • Dragonforce guitar playing was phenomenal!

by plasticmaster on 10/3/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I'm an older heavy metal fan of groups like AC/DC and Metalica. At 47 years old, I've haven't kept up with the new stuff. So we get a Guitar Hero game and my 15 year old son hooks me into playing with him. That's where I discovered Dragonforce. The music is phenomenal; full of content and complex in technicality. So we decided to do a first-class Dragonforce concert at the HOB Chicago. Front row, center stage. I've been to a few concerts in my day so I know where I like to stand (up close and in your face!). But I noticed my wife and I were among the oldest in the front row crowd. (The old people were stationed (smartly) around the periphery. My son was geeked (his first heavy metal concert). The group played to the crowd which was awesome! They looked like they had a lot of fun! I found I really liked the music (for an old guy) and also that of Sonata Arctica whom I had never heard of. Taking Dawn was young band and a good choice for an opener. I'd go again, but I'd leave my son in the front row and I'd set comfortably around the edge. I was exhausted after the concert (we were on the edge of a mosh pit). It was definately a good night. I'll be purchasing more Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica music in the future! Good Job House of Blues! Excellent Job Dragonforce!!!

  • Sonata Arctica should HEADLINE!

by Anonymous on 10/3/09Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Sonata Arctica last year at Sound Academy with Nightwish and they were both great. This year, I didn't know who Taking Dawn was, but they were much better than I had first expected. Sonata Arctica is almost too great for words....and DragonForce has only one song that they play over and over with different lyrics. I am somewhat glad they played after SA, because I got so bored I left halfway through. It wasn't just me either, most of the crowd was in a lull for DragonForce after SA's amazing performance. I hope the message gets through that Sonata Arctica is popular enough to be HEADLINING THEIR OWN TOURS.
