It was great! The acoustics to the venue were a little off.

About
Pennsylvanian rockers Dr. Dog represent a blast from the past. Their music has often been compared to acts from long ago, including The Beatles and The Beach Boys, to name a couple. The retro sound of Dr. Dog has resulted in several memorable records in their nearly 15 years of existence, yet like any great band, sometimes their recorded material pales in comparison to their live act. Tickets to see Dr. Dog sell fast since the indie group usually prefers to tour the small club circuit. They have also played major festivals, like Coachella and Treasure Island, too. Dr. Dog skips the theatrics and simply sticks to good music playing live. They're a band that is highly skilled, and they even cut a live album at Google's headquarters in California. They have always jammed with famous psychedelic bands, like My Morning Jacket, in concert. Always a group to present new material, the band released their seventh studio album, called "B-Room," in 2013. The record features "The Truth" and "Broken Heart" and was the first album composed at their new studio in Philadelphia.
Dr. Dog was formed by childhood friends, Scott McMicken and Toby Leaman, as the duo preferred to experiment with lo-fi recordings, including original psychedelic material recorded on eight tracks and other vintage devices. Their first album, "The Psychedelic Swamp," was self-recorded and released in 2001. Dr. Dog became popular along the Philadelphia circuit, yet gained little notoriety outside of it. However, the group continued to write and compose the way they wanted to. This would later lead to a large cult following drawn to their complete DIY approach and indie-mentality, thanks to their tireless promotion on the Internet. "We All Belong," "Fate" and "Shame, Shame" are all classic Dr. Dog studio releases, though the band has also released its fair share of EPs and vinyl.
Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 5/16/10Terminal 5 - New York Rating: 4 out of 5 i think i was the only one there to see deer tick
by raiderfan60 on 5/16/10Terminal 5 - New Yorkand I was far more impressed by Deer Tick all around, better musicians better sound and they were a blast,,, oh yeah loved that they came out in dresses and drank jack Daniels with bud chasers, being a soon to be 50 year old I can say they are the genuine article in rock n roll terms. On the other hand Dr. Dog sounded muddled, although the crowd seemed to love them, I must say I wasnt all that aware of there material only knew 3 songs , not that I knew all of Deer Ticks material but that only shows what I prefer in the musical realm.

by phillymcg on 5/15/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonThese two Paradise shows were my 5th and 6th in the past 2 years, and Dr. Dog gets better all the time. I just wish I hadn't sung and screamed quite so loud, I haven't been able to speak normally for days;-)
Rating: 5 out of 5 Dr. Dog, so much fun.
by DrDogFan on 5/14/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonIf you're a Dr. Dog fan or have even just casually listened to their music I would highly recommend seeing them live. They have a lot of energy on stage and the music translates well into a live performance. Not much more I could ask for from any band.
Rating: 5 out of 5 2 Sold-Out Shows at Paradise
by johnandre217 on 5/13/10Paradise Rock Club - BostonFirst night they were incredible with perfect sound focusing on newer material. They played every song from the new CD "Shame Shame" Noticeably missing in the set list was the song "FROM" which in my opinion is one of the better songs they have yet written. The second night fell short a bit as far as the sound was concerned. For some reason the bass guitar was so overpowering . The bass hum drowned out the vocals and the other members musical nuiances. Toward the end of the show it became obvious that Tobey was losing his voice. You could see the frustration on his face. Scott had to pick up the slack and took over lead vocals for one of the last songs.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 5/13/10Paradise Rock Club - Boston I can't believe Dr. Dog isn't bigger than they are. I have never seen a band with as much energy or passion in my life.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Bravo Deer Tick; Dr. Dog is still entertaining
by rvaoboe on 5/3/10The Loft - DallasThis was my first time at the Loft. Despite my slight aversion to floor not being entirely stable for much of the evening, and the sound being way too overpowering for the space allotted, it was a cool venue. Deer Tick was much more musically appealing live, while Dr. Dog catered more to the "let's just jam and have a good time" majority of the crowd. Deer Tick's sound is difficult to classify, with a wide range of influences and direction. They were probably not most Dr. Dog fan's regular cup of tea, and the anxiety amongst the crowd toward the length of their set was obvious. Still, I found them much more musically interesting and diverse than Dr. Dog's same routine they've been doing for the last 5 years. The crowd didn't seem to mind the repetitious nature of Dr. Dog, though, and I didn't either, for that matter, since the lights were sweet, and it's damn upbeat music.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Must see Dr. Dog live!!
by Anonymous on 5/1/10The Loft - DallasThe show was simply amazing. The venue was quite intimate, so we were there with about 250 crazy Dog fans. They are a great live act, as we had heard, but haven't been fortunate enough to catch until now. So glad we did. If you haven't listened to them yet, do it. Give them a chance, at least. You'll be glad you did.

by RUCKUSJ on 4/27/10Wonder Ballroom - PortlandThis show rocked! It could be that they played for like 2 hours, or maybe that everybody was dancing, or maybe because I love this band. Either way the show was great!!!! go see them!
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 4/26/10Wonder Ballroom - Portland Dr. Dog is a great band and those who like music such as the Beatles, would most likely love Dr. Dog. This concert was full of lights and sound. It was awesome!
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 4/26/10Wonder Ballroom - Portland Dr. Dog performed an incredible set. They played every single worthwhile song from Fate and Shame, Shame, both, which is quite a feat. Their set was long, but they didn't overstay their welcome. They ended with a raucous, anthem-worthy rendition of My Friend that left the crowd howling at the moon. No one could have been happier.

by 206206 on 4/26/10Wonder Ballroom - PortlandDr. Dog is probably the best live band I've ever seen. I'm a big music fan and have seen probably 100 shows in the last 4 or 5 years. Dr. Dog always brings the energy and is simply put, "Increadible".
