  • Fantastic Hip Hop Legends

by Vee on 9/4/25Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was great, the music took me back to the days I was hanging out at that parks in boogie down Bronx. I enjoyed it tremendously dancing and singing along with the legends. I had a fantastic time.

  • Good to see Doug e but,

by Ray on 9/3/25Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 3 out of 5

The rotation of entertainers was not good. No way Rakim comes on after Big Daddy Cane or KRS1. Doug e missed a couple of songs and it appears he was rushed to get off the stage. I attend this show every year and this was by far the least entertaining. Hopefully next year will be better.

  • Old School Concert

  • Awesome

by Latarsha on 7/29/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I saw Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh perform in July 2025. They killed it! Their set was cut short due to it being stormy and the venue being an amphitheater. So, the crowd was upset that this occurred, but we understood that the weather was trash with lightning and such. It was my 2nd time seeing this duo. Hopefully, they'll return to the SE Va. metro area soon to perform their full set and that the evening isn't so stormy.

  • Was a good time for a short time!!

by mastermistro on 7/22/25Portsmouth Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

Good lively crowd...everyone enjoying themselves! Arrested Development came out first ..did their thing not long but ended with Everyday People which EVERYONE got into!!! EPMD came out strong ..though not a big fan of theirs I thought they gave their all and had good control of crowd involvement....MC Lyte came out to a loud pop and went right into her set as the thunder became louder and closer....she was great but unfortunately was cut short after 4 songs because of lightning in the area...she said she as told to go to the back. The DJ's kept the crowd entertain for a few minutes and then out came DOUG E FRESH!!!! again crowd popped big especially when he did his version Teach Me How to Dougie!!! after 2 of his Slick Rick strolled out into his stuff and together they did a tribute to some of the past big timers Biggie, 2Pac, Biz Markee....^ minutes was given to get off the stage as the storms were coming through so they did 6 Minutes and that was it...only bad part... no Children's Story!!!! Overall a really good show and good time for all!! just too short cause of the storms

Great 80s and 90s hip hop show. Worth seeing again.

  • Cut Short

by Siegedad on 7/22/25Portsmouth Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was going well until the thunder and lightning ended the show. Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick was gracious enough to come out and perform for about ten minutes.

  • Could have prepared for the storms better

by Mo on 7/21/25Portsmouth Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 2 out of 5

Everyone knew that there were supposed to be major storms so why didn’t they let the headliners perform earlier instead of just singing 2 songs each while letting Arrested Development and EPMD perform for 30 plus minutes People were very disappointed and didn’t get the performances they paid for

  • Short and Bittersweet

    by Alexis T. on 7/21/25Portsmouth Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 3 out of 5

Unfortunately, thunderstorms bring the concert to a halt. MC Lyte was hustled off stage. Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick were rushed on and did 3 songs. While the rain was not the promoter’s fault, it wasn’t my fault either. I spent good money and came up extremely short with no compensation!!! We saw all of Arrested Development (very good) and EPMD (fantastic) and snippets of MC Lyte, Slick Rick, and Doug E. Fresh (excellent for what we saw but definitely not enough). I guess it happens, but what was really upsetting was that between the acts, the promoter play R&B - really old R&B at a hip hop concert. Talk about not knowing your audience. I was not at all impressed.

  • Rain ended a great performance from rap legends

    by Jblu75 on 7/21/25Portsmouth Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

Portsmouth pavillion was lit and hype as it should be.the 757 show love to hip hop especially the old school ledgends..unfortunately a bad lightening and thunder storm shortened Mc light,Doug e fresh and slick Rick performances because Mc light came out on fire as well as arrested development and E P M D in all due respect salute..Dougie fresh and slick Rick was cooking bruh meaning they was on one that night but the storm killed the electrifying performance from last 3 acts..we need a encore Virginia needs them back cmon 757 letem know we our Hip Hop
