About

For gospel singer and preacher Donnie McClurkin, music and spreading the word of God are one and the same. His concerts mix gospel standards, stirring originals, impromptu medleys, covers of secular hits and joyful discussions about the power of faith. McClurkin’s style is smooth and sophisticated, but he can still get crowds amped up with his genuine passion and unwavering devotion. It makes for a celebratory live experience, which was perfectly captured on his most recent album, the 2008 live recording We Are All One, which led to the single “Wait On The Lord.” McClurkin’s devotion is also evident in his weekly television show, Perfecting Your Faith.

Music and religion were also the two forces that helped save McClurkin from a childhood filled with trials. He joined his church choir at a young age and was soon doing backup vocals for gospel legend Andraé Crouch. In 1989, he was hired as an associate minister at Detroit’s Perfecting Church, working under another gospel star, Marvin Winans of The Winans Family. McClurkin released his self-titled debut album in 1996, and buoyed by popular single “Stand” and a plug from Oprah Winfrey, the album went gold. He sold tickets around the world, and his UK-recorded live album, 2000’s Live In London and More went double platinum. Its followup, Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs, also went double platinum and earned McClurkin his first of three Grammy Awards. He also earned 10 Stellar Awards, two BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards and one NAACP Image Award. When McClurkin is not touring around the country, he shares his devotion preaching as the senior pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York and on the television show Perfecting Your Faith.

New Year's Gospel celebration was awesome!!!!

by cburroughs on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

The Gospel Concert last night was amazing!! It was a joy to see all those artists in one venue. They each had a different way of bringing in the praise, and I enjoyed them all! It was also great to have such a big gospel event in Atlantic City instead of Philly for once. I had a blast. Hope you bring more gospel events to the area soon!!!

Great Concert, but the sound could have been better

by Samuel37 on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

Awesome...awesome...awesome show! We had a great time praising God! J. Moss, Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary and Fred Hammond were awesome. However, the sound system was off & on at times; there were also late getting started and long pauses in between the groups. I would suggest better soound technicians next time and maybe a comedian or something in between each peforming singer instead of the long pauses.

Boardwalk Hall...Good, next time should be better.

by sillyKAT on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

Overall, the concert was awesome! I had good seats. However, what was with the microphones? Most of the time everyone sounded muffled. If you didn't know the words of the songs, you were lost. There were a couple of times when CeCe was visibly talking, but there wasn't any sound coming out. Twice during separate performances, there was a loud mic screech. BOARDWALK HALL NEEDS TO WORK ON THESE THINGS. I loved the performances from Donnie and Fred. "OLD" they are not. No way should they ever think of putting an end to performing. It was true worship. With them, I was out of my seat the entire time. Tears, tongues, the whole nine yards. If only their performance time could have been extended. Talking about "old school" music, what a great incorporation to the set. Mary & Mary were also good. Six months pregnant, you could have fooled me. You go girls! I personally prefer more praise and worship vs. jump/jump music. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them. I have and love their Cd's and will continue to support them. Maybe you can help explain the delay in their start. They had to be intro'ed 3x's. WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT? This was my first time hearing J. Moss in concert. His voice is beautiful and different. He needs to work on his performance so that it syncs with his music. I was upset that he did not sing my favorite song, RESTORE, but instead had us sing along with the pre-recorded version. Can I get a discount? I hope that I am not babbling. I just got home from AC and wanted to give you my review of the concert. Please don't see this as "downing", I am already looking forward to the next concert.

    Need to start on time!

by mlckec on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

I have been to many a concerts over the course of my life but this is the first concert I Ever attended that actually started over 1 hour late. The sound stage people need a little more practice. The music was so loud it overpowered the voices of most the singers. Fix the voice level ratio to music level and start the concert on time and it would have been a great show!!

    2010 God's year of vision

by brycebrowne on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

2010 vision is better than 2020 vision. Every eye doctor will confirm this, so this is the year of vision. This event was an anointing, spiritual, and visionary breakthrough event. God wants our vision to be clear this year, so we can clearly see his promise to us. Think vision this year and God will do the rest. J-moss opened the event and was awesome. Pastor Donnie followed and his testimony was so visial you see why his mission from God will be known to all. Mary Mary was my favorite (and I'm a guy) lool these 2 vessels of God have voices of true angels, they can out sing anybody. I thought they were just the ordinary- but they have truely extraordinary voices, and the God in Me song tore the roof off the house. Fred Hammond is so anointed his songs are so beautifully done. He was the headliner and brought out Pastor Donnie and TYE Tribbet out for a song. Like I said it was so visially clear. Can't wait to SEE all the things God will show us this year. Vision vision vision!!!!!

    Fred Hammond was awesome

by over40 on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

I enjoyed the show. I wish Donnie would have sang a few more songs because he is one of my favorite male gospel singers and his music just touches my heart . All of the singers were great .The line up was on point because I like everyone who was there. I had great seats . I think a little bit longer would put this show over the top.

    Awesome concert

by LaWandaJ on 1/3/10Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City

This concert was awesome. JMoss, Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, & Fred Hammond brought done the show. I'll be looking out for similar concerts. Fred Hammond & Mary Mary were phenominal. It really Blessed my soul!! My only gripe is the sound...at times the microphones where turned up too loud and cause the artist to sound garbled. Otherwise I would have given this concert 5 stars.
