About

Donald Glover is the consummate example of the Hollywood triple-threat. The 26-year old actor, writer, and musician is quickly positioning himself as one of Hollywood's most promising talents. Most recognized for his role as the jock "Troy" on NBC's Community, Donald was hired as a staff writer on the hit-show 30 Rock while still a Resident Assistant at NYU. During his time at 30 Rock the show won two Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as a Writer's Guild Award for Best Comedy.

Donald was born in California on Edwards Air Force Base and moved to Atlanta when he was four. There he studied drama and the process of writing short plays, which he continued to study at New York University's Dramatic Writing program at Tisch. While at NYU, Donald studied improvisation and comedy writing with the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre and had the honor of improvising with the likes of Amy Poehler and Horatio Sanz. He also performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien multiple times.

Donald is also one of the founding members of the internet sketch comedy sensation, DERRICK Comedy. The group's YouTube channel has garnered over 5 million views. The group's first feature film which Donald co-wrote, produced, scored and starred in, Mystery Team, was released in Los Angeles in March 2010 and on DVD in May 2010.

In addition to Community, Donald continues to tour and perform stand-up. His first Comedy Central Stand-Up Special aired in March, 2010. In July 2010, Donald received the first-ever Rising Comedy Star of the Year Award at the 2010 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.

In addition to acting, Donald raps under the moniker "Childish Gambino". Most recently he released two mixtapes, I Am Just A Rapper and I Am Just A Rapper 2 and his most recent album entitled Culdesac was released in July, 2010.

Nothing you haven't seen on late night TV

I'm a fan of Community. It's a fairly funny, decent show. So I figured this would be as funny a script as the series. I honestly think this was a little disappointing. Mostly your run of the mill sex and race jokes. I would have gotten more variety at the comedy place down the block and they would have been cheaper. There were some funny moments but too far and in between to be worth the price of the ticket.

I thought Donald had a genuinely good nature and was extremely humorous. I think we can expect to be hearing from him for a long time to come!

The venue was intimate, and not really a bad seat in the house (since Donald was moving everywhere). Solid delivery, definitely what I expected and more. Great performance.

    His opener was MUCH funnier.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see Donald Glover. I love him on Community. Overall he was decent, he definitely got better as he warmed up, but my boyfriend and I weren't really into his style of stand-up. It was mostly story telling, lots of things we couldn't relate to (like hanging out with Reggie Bush). However, I must say that his opener, Lamont Price, was WELL worth the price I paid for the tickets. He had us cracking up for his entire set. Even the audience seemed to laugh more at Lamont than at Donald.

    Awesome

by Stigwood on 1/30/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Donald Glover is pretty damn funny. None of the material from his comedy central special was used, which was a relief. My date and I left very satisfied. The venue was great as well.

    The very talented Mr Glover

by jillxfdd on 1/30/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

This show was great. I was lucky enough to be in the front row thanks to the Wilbur theater presale. Donald glover has such animation when he does his stand up. If your not watching Community or haven't seen Mystery Team your missing out :P

    Had a great time

by Anonymous on 1/30/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I bought these tickets based on the fact that I knew Donald Glover is super talented - actor on Community, rapper, writer on on 30 Rock at such a young age, etc. However, I honestly didn't expect a great show because he's not a seasoned comic; it takes life experience and hours logged on stage to get the point where you're an amazing comic. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. He has great comedic sensibilities, and while it is still obvious that he is a young comic, he is so talented and funny that it really was a great show.

Good show - glad to see that he departed from the comedy he does on television. Still has room to grow but I thought I got my money's worth. Id recommend him if you like to laugh!
