    Good play

by Cbethkirk on 7/1/13Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - Orlando

This play had a lot of twists, turns, and surprises! It was very welcoming because my husband and I went there expecting it to be predictable especially with the title. We were pleasantly surprised, especially at the end. The only thing was that a few of the microphones were not working properly and we could barely hear some of the actors. They were finally fixed during the second half. The singing was on point and I loved seeing Angela Winbush, Christopher Williams, and Michele'. The play wasn't sold out and there were a lot of empty seats which was a shame because the play was good.

    Twist!!

by Muff37 on 3/22/13BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

I thoroughly enjoyed this play it was so romantic, but that perfect amount of suspense, drama, & twist really was great & unexpected. Never ever would've known that it would turn out the way it did. It just confirms to me to trust no one!

"Do You Trust Your Best Friend" was very creative.

by Justreva on 3/19/13BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

I enjoyed the play from beginning to end. However, we could have gotten to the end a little bit quicker. The play was a bit too long to me but I thought the ending was creative and thought provoking. The characters were convincing and a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this play to a friend.

OMG, I'M THROUGH. I'M JUST TOO THROUGH. I DIDN'T THINK THIS PLAY COULD GET ANY BETTER. I'M TRYING TO THINK OF THINGS TO SAY BUT I SIMPLY CAN'T FIND THE WORDS BUT I'LL TRY. SIMPLY AMAZING. SEAN BLAKEMORE FROM GENERAL HOSPITAL WAS ADDED TO THE CAST AND FIT LIKE A TIGHT CLOVE WITH HIS FINE SELF. CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS SEXY SINGING SELF. MS. WINBUSH DID THE DAMN THING. KEKE WYATT SUNG THIS TIME. I'VE SEEN THIS PLAY MORE THAN ONCE AND STILL CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT, IT'S JUST THAT DAMN GOOD. THEY HAD THE BJCC GOING CRAZY FROM BEGINNING TO END. THE ACTORS CAME OUT THE LOBBY TOOK PICTURES AND HUNG AROUND FOR A WHILE. SOME VERY NICE DOWN TO EARTH PEOPLE. DERRELL LAWRENCE I LOVE YOU.

Do You Trust Your Best Friend

by KimmieKim on 3/18/13BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

I enjoyed the Play. If I had to rate it between 1-10, i would give it a 8. It kept my interest throughout the entire play. I would recommend others to go and see the play. It was worth the price of the play. But I think that it could have ended in a better faction. I think that the best friend should have been the one who cause trouble with the relationship by telling her the truth, and then she could have gotten with Calvin his best friend as a manner of catch back. Then cancelled the wedding and married Calvin. But I still enjoyed the play.

I didn't think the performance could get better than the first time I seen it but it did. The mics were acting up in the first three scenes but after that everything was flawless. If I rated the performance and writing I'll give it 5stars. Willett Hall need to fix their sound. Every play that comes their has a problem as I read, but the cast perform well beyond any tech issues. Bottom line this is the best play you will see. Hands down. And I'm ready to travel to see it again. And I love the new changes you added as well Mr. Lawrence.

The play was excellent! Really enjoyed and glad I went to see. We need to come out and support more Black sponsored events.. The microphones and sound system were ridiculous and took a little away from the first half..

The play was great. I would have given it 4 stars, but there were problems with the audio system throughout the production.

Do You Trust Your Best Friend

by sexyTina on 10/28/12Davis Performing Arts Center - Montgomery

I'm a person who love going to plays, when I hard about this play coming to Montgomery I immediately checked the internet so I can get info on it since I never heard of the award winning playright (Derrell Lawrence). When I read the reviews from arizona it wasn't that good. I also read it had potential once he work out the kinks because it's a great story. I also read it was his very first stage play. I researched more and found he did the play in Philly several months later. From watching the Philly fan reaction on YOUTUBE he must of worked out the kinks because everyone said how much they enjoyed the play. But what got me was the excitement on their faces when they spoke about it. After thinking about it, I decided to take my hard earn money to support this play but also support a young black brother. I got my hair done, found a babysitter lol and went to the Davis Theater. I was highly impressed. This play was filled with excitement, entertainment, drama, singing a spiritual message and GREAT ACTING. While the play was going on I didn't know who or what to believe. But believe this, you will absolutely enjoy this play. Female clothing and shoes were on point. And the bodies of "Flash" from the five hearbeats and "Maurice" when he came on stage in a towel. I'm still catching my breath lol. This is one of the best stories I've witnessed. I recommand everyone and anyone to see this play. PS Bring your best friend at your own fisk lol.

Do You Trust Your Best Friend

by Allmouth on 10/25/12Davis Performing Arts Center - Montgomery

This was one of the most brilliant and entertaining stage plays I've ever saw. It had me shaking my head and mad at the best friend "Toya" the whole night, laughing at the church ladies "Sisters Edith and "Helen", and mesmerized at the singing of Miss A'ngela Winbush. The actors were fantastic. "Maurice" and "April" are the truth but "Calvin" was off the hook. The writing even better. It didn't even feel like I was watching a play, because everything was so real. The ladies outfits and shoes were sharp. I bought my boyfriend who hate going to plays and he said the next time the writer brings a play back to "The Gump" get front row seats I love this jawn . Everyday for a week we both woke up everyday finding something new to talk about the play. You will definitely keep your eye on your best friend after watching this lol. I'm ready to travel to see this play again. Thanks Derrell Lawrence.

I enjoyed the play thought the story line was great. The actors some seemed a little nervous...The Toya and April could have been better. The Church Mothers were very funny and was the most memorable, along with Calvin. You have to look at what the play was about Trusting your Best friend around your man. What I got out of it was to be careful what you tell your best friend about your man. If you have a good man don't tell anyone about his performance. I believe the writing was good the church scence shouldn't have been in this type of play, but overall the writer wrote a play that people will be talking about, once he works out the kinks. Trust me one day we will look back and say whoa he made it do what it do

The play was not what I expected. The quality of the acting , sound, stage crew, story line/length, was below par. 2.5 stars at best! The price far exceeded the value of the entertainment received. This was a nice venue which made one expect more.
