DJ Jazzy Jeff on Tour
A pioneer whose crate-digging and beat-making skills remain unparalleled, West Philadelphia's DJ Jazzy Jeff has been one of hip-hop's most celebrated DJs for more than three decades. When Jeffrey Allen Townes was only 10 years old, he embarked on his DJ career, spinning records in his family's basement. His appreciation of the job of a DJ ran so deep, he'd use his time at neighborhood block parties to study how others worked:
In 1985, Jeff paired up with fellow Philadelphian Will Smith to form DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, and together the two hit it big with crossover smashes in the 1980s and ‘90s. Earlier singles like "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Nightmare on My Street" cruised to the top with their combination of slapstick humor and boom-bap beats, with the former song winning the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 1989. The duo's 1991 jam "Summertime" took a more chilled-out approach, and it became a cookout staple and earned the pair their second Grammy.
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince split up in the early ‘90s, although Townes has reunited with Smith for a handful of reunion shows and collaborations on record. He's also struck out on his own as an in-demand DJ and music mogul, helping nurture his hometown's fertile neo-soul scene and collaborating with fellow hip-hop titans like Big Daddy Kane and Method Man.
Jeff has also taken fans along with him on the road in the online video series Vinyl Destination, which follows him on his travels as he seeks out the best examples of culture around the world. His shrewd study of what makes an entertainer successful has paid off in a slew of ways — for him and for anyone attending his shows.
It was everything. I relived my childhood, teenage, and young adulthood all in one night.
It was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Non stop for over 2 hours!!
I won tickets to this concert and I took my dad out to the concert as a part of his Father’s Day weekend present. He had the time of his life he barely sat down the whole night . He was very happy to see all of the rappers he loved back in the day. It was an amazing show!!
Old school Hip Hop 50 artist was unbelievable a night to remember Mr.Philadelphia aka Charlie Mack did a wonderful job planning this event

They all put on a great show! Not one act was whack. Couldn’t believe ALL 50 performers came out to represent. I was so glad to have been able to see this!
The Show was monumental and brought back so many memories of how good Hip Hop made you feel back in the day. I would like to thank every artist that performed for their contribution to Hip Hop. Let's get ready for another fifty and beyond.....
Hands down the greatest old school hip-hop shows of all time Charlie Mack set up something beautiful the vibe was through the roof electric
I think I feel that it was awesome because.when I booked my tickets I was not expecting so many artist. It was a pleasant surprise, also just nice to see some rappers that we had not seen or heard from in a long time. If I had any complaints it would be the line to get in
The opening DJ sound quality was very distorted. But I understand that he was just killing the silence while people were still filing in. You knew when Jazzy Jeff hit the stage from the quality of the sound. I was bobbing my head and clapping to artist I never heard before and Fallibg out of my seat and screaming my heart out for the artist who wrote the soundtrack to my childhood. The show was also very educational. They said they were filming a documentary. I hope I get to see it soon.
Me and my husband sang so much we lost our voice. We had a great time, can’t wait to see a another show next year.
I could get enough. Going back down memory lane. Everyone was fantastic.
