  • Great music, but play more classics please

by Zaku2Easy on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

The orchestra, music, lead vocalist (Susan Calloway) and conductor (Arnie Roth) were all great. Nobuo Uematsu being there was also a plus. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough old school FF material. Not counting medleys, there was nothing from FFIV (great game), and only one song from FFVI (one of my favorite works of fiction of all time.). Thankfully, there were three songs from FFVII (great game), but this was marred by that fact that half the video footage being shown was from the Complication FFVII, which I can't stand. As stated earlier, the orchestra and conductor were great. Even if most of the games represented weren't good, the music from them was great, and that is what I'm really here for. I hate MMOs but the vocal song from FFXIV gave me the chills (in a good way.) Overall, I would recommend it. Just play ONE DEDICATED SONG form FFIV...This is my fourth concert of FFDW, and FFIV never gets any love. I vote for Four Lords of the Elements.

  • Masterpiece

Nobuo-san's work shines in a live setting. Incredible performances by the orchestra and Susan Calloway, great arrangements by Arnie Roth.

  • Absolutely Wonderful

This event was a dream for me. I want to go again.

  • Distant Worlds was forgettable!

by GrubbsGrady on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 1 out of 5

Played way too much new stuff from recent titles. I was looking for nostalgia. Didn't get it. The sound was also bad. Vocalist overpowered the orchestra. Crowd was also annoying and interrupted during songs. Overall I would say poor song selection was its biggest downfall though. I waited most of my life to go to one of these so its hard to express how disappointed I am in writing. I've given up on Square Enix.

Performance was superb, exceeded my expectations, and the venue was great. Overall, worth the 2-hour drive from Philadelphia!

  • The ULTIMATE Final Fantasy Concert!

by UltimaFinalFantasy on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I loved it. I would recommend this show to any individual who's life has been touched by the wonderful music of Final Fantasy. I'm not particularly a fan of Eyes on Me, but Susan Calloway's rendition is enjoyable, and some of they lyrics are touched up a bit. Also, being in the same room as Uematsu-san was a great honor.

Great performance, and really enjoyed the video show they used to enhance the performance. Would have been nice to get more FFXV music.

I'm not going to go into a long over drawn review so I will say this about Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy... Simple Amazing...

  • Beautiful music and great conductor

by Warden64 on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Being the second Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds concert I have attended, this was basically more of what I love. Though some of the song selection wasn't quite in line with my favorite FF games like the last concert, I still plan to see multiple Distant World symphonies in the future. They really bring the wonderful music to life and the videos are filled with great moments in the series which are well edited to either tell a story or make you laugh. My only small complaint actually has something to do with (what I hear is) a rare occurrence. The great and powerful Nobuo Uematsu graced us with his presence! Which was extremely unexpected and amazing to actually see him in person to take pictures. Except he only said about 3 words total! He said, "If you want." to the conductor when asked a question. Though it was very good English. Meanwhile for the last symphony I went to the composer for Final Fantasy XII, Masaharu Iwata, made an appearance and announced the FF: XII remake with a translator. That was much more impressive to actually have an announcement, but to have him at least acknowledge the audience would have been really appreciated. Or autographs! That being said, I know that is a lot to ask for. Since time is money. So at least thanking everyone for coming would have been great.

  • Final Fantasy music have me chills

Orchestra and choir were amazing! When Susan Galloway sang "Eyes on Me" I got the chills. So beautifully done! Would love to see this concert again!

  • Distant Worlds is Beautiful

by Unkindloving on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Definitely a great experience. Even the music I wasn't aware of, and the games I hadn't played or haven't played yet, were more than enjoyable to hear and watch. I loved the interaction between songs, and the crowd interaction too! We may not go every time, but we certainly would love to go again :)

  • A must see for Final Fantasy fans!!

by KeithDiz on 1/31/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Distant Worlds music from Final Fantasy is a collection of classic Final Fantasy songs orchestrated by Nobuo Uematsu and conducted by Artie Roth. Sitting listening to the orchestra play music from FF to FFXV brings nostalgia to those who have played. The performance of the orchestra is accompanied with video cut scenes from each of the games.
