    Good, not great

    by Kirkh on 5/26/23

After seeing the 2017 Aladdin, i was in awe of how great the performace. Last night (May 2023), I saw Aladdin and it left me wanting so much more. There was nothing wrong, but it lacked the pizzazz of a Broadway show. The acting was okay and I felt no connection between Jasmin and Aladdin. The songs felt rushed and lacked any WOW factor. The genie was great. The 3 friends (Kasim, Omar, nd ?) connected well and provided comedic relief. This honestly seemed like a lackluster budge-cut peformance. It seemed more like a community or college performance rather than a Broadway Show. I left wanting more.

    Spectacular!

by Moe moe on 5/25/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This is my third time seeing Aladdin…twice in NYC and now in Chicago. The whole cast was great but the genie was spectacular. He was every bit as good as the genie who won a Tony in NYC years back.

This was my first Broadway show & I’m extremely happy it was Aladdin!!! Everything was simply amazing! From the cast, the set, the costumes, singing & dancing!!! You can tell a lot of hard work was put into this show, the set was vibrant with colors as well as the costumes! Everyone did an extraordinary job!

    A Whole New World!

by SamdPrairie on 5/24/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

This production of Aladdin was probably one of the best touring musicals I have seen! The cast was fantastic, the effects spectacular, and the sound was well done. The theater was also gorgeous. Very happy with our experience!

    Loved, loved, lovedddddddd itttt!

by GG on 5/24/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

First, let's talk cast. More importantly, about Marcus Martin (Genie). They could not have cast anyone more perfect for this role! Marcus was AMAZING! He was hilarious and brought the energy to the stage and to all of us watching. Senzel Ahmady (Jasmine) and Adi Roy (Aladdin) were awesome in their roles, too. I didn't really feel their chemistry together when they sang A Million Miles Away, but absolutely loved watching their performance on the magic carpet, singing A Whole New World. Aaron Choi (Iago) was a nice surprise. His role was fun to watch because he was hilarious. I can't remember the names of the actors who played Babkak, Omar and Kassim....but they were fun to watch, especially during the Prince Ali performance. I honestly could go on about every single cast member in the show. The ensemble, the orchestra -- everyone was amazing. The choreography for the entire show was incredible. Bravo to everyone who took part in creating the set. The colors in the village were illuminating. The Cave of Wonder, the palace, the magic carpet...it was all so perfect. The show was so fun. There was a group of eight of us, ranging in age from 9 to 70. I don't know who talked about the show more....the youngest in our group or the oldest. They loved the show. I loved it. We all loved it.

Below average compared to other Disney tours

    by R. L. on 5/24/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I was very disappointed in the quality of the tour production compared to the Broadway production. The cast was amazing, but the production reminded me more of the short cuts a high school production would take. I understand that touring presents limitations on what can be staged for a few weeks verses a Broadway production, but not expected with Disney.

    Comparing Two

by Jen on 5/24/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

It was good, but compared to the previous show (a few years ago) it was lackluster. Mostly due to the sets which were very much toned down compared to the first - those were what brought us back. Although, if you did not see the previous show, you wont be disappointed.

Loved the show, except annoying usher

by BLights on 5/23/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Would have given 5 stars except usher who kept walking up and down the aisle repeatedly during BOTH acts for no apparent reason. Cast was great, music was live and fun. Live old theaters!

The Aladdin touring show is fantastic! No complaints. The cast is stellar and the staging is magnificent. Some fun things from Broadway are not here but other fun things are present.

Funny, Energetic, Best moments from the Movie in Live Action

by HB on 5/22/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Loved this rendition of Aladdin as I am a fan (like everyone who saw it!) of the original animated classic. So poignant and funny that I was laughing and crying simultaneously. The cast really worked together to bring this together beautifully, but the audience-favorite is undoubtedly is "Genie" brought to uproarious life by Marcus M. Martin! As sweet as this production is and full of laugh-out-loud moments, it takes on another level of energy and hilarity immediately when Mr. Martin graces the stage. He serves as an ad-hoc narrator and kind of travel guide early on, then displays a whole range of Broadvillian dance routines that highlight his sense of comic timing and humor. This company is brilliant and gives more than ample reason why LIVE is alive and well in Downtown Chicago!

    Womp womp

by Nonplussed on 5/22/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I had no expectations that the production would be at the caliber of Lion King, but it was shockingly lower. No Abu, no Raja, no magic carpet character. The arrangements of all the popular songs were different (fine, fine… I won’t sing), and the new ones seemed to miss the point of Aladdin. The morale is not to judge based on looks. It became a story about making his dead mom proud. Set design was lacking in imagination and quality. Expect to be disappointed and then you won’t be disappointed.

    Aladdin

by Gina on 5/21/23Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Great show. Loved that they engaged with the audience before the show, started by acknowledging the city they were in. As well as ending the show that way. The music, singing and acting all were first rate. Would see this again.
