This September, dive deep under the sea with Encore Theatre Collective as they bring their spectacular production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to the Bruce Mason Centre!
In a kingdom fathoms below, Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order in the ocean.
Based on the 1989 Academy Award winning film, The Little Mermaid features some of Disney’s most irresistible songs, including “Part Of Your World”, “Kiss The Girl”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls”.
Since launching in 2019, Encore Theatre Collective has dazzled thousands of audience members across Auckland with their magical and memorable productions, and continues to redefine the standard of youth theatre in New Zealand. Disney’s The Little Mermaid promises to be no exception, with astonishing costumes, stunning flying effects and an incredible cast of the country’s finest young performers.

My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation! Every aspect was superb!
The production was wonderful, however our experience at the Lexington Opera House was not. The people sitting behind us were loud, talking through the whole play often making it difficult to hear what was happening on the stage, and changing their seats and bumping into us. I wish the ushers had said something to them. The seats were expensive considering we couldn't see about a 1/4 of the stage. There are photos on Ticketmaster of the seat views, but the person who took those photos must have been standing and certainly didn't have people sitting in front of them. The photos were not true to our experience. It was a huge disappointment, considering what we paid. Other staff at the Opera House were wonderful. The greeters/ticket scanners, security, and concessions workers were helpful and polite. I will hope for a better show in the future.
This was my daughter's first live performance and we both loved it!! My daughter couldn't get over how much everyone sounded like the characters in the movie. It was a great experience!!
An amazing cast brought this show to life! We are so glad we got the chance to see this wonderful performance by The Lexington Theatre Company! Just made our hearts happy! And who doesn't need that kind of joy, right about now?!!
This show was very well done. The characters were well defined and the actors were great.
I thoroughly enjoyed the production. All performers were spot on with their portrayal of their characters.
I am always amazed at the quality of productions by The Lexington Theater Company. “The Little Mermaid” was excellent —-main actors /singers; extras ; orchestra . My eight year old granddaughter and I loved every minute
The entire central Kentucky community owes a debt of gratitude to the Lexington Theatre Company. Nothing on New York's Broadway overshadows the entertainment value of shows The LEX has brought right here - and incorporating local talent, to boot!
The whole family loved it! All our favorite songs plus some cool new ones. The cast was amazing all around (Scuttle & Sebastian were our favorite! But Ursula was awesome too!) Well Done!!
Easy parking! Fun taking pictures in the lobby at the beginning of the show. Show was spectacular! Costumes, color, more than a splash of entertainment- a tidal wave of fun! The Chef scene was my favorite part, made me laugh a lot. Recommend for all.
Took my Granddaughter. She loved it!! The set was great. the Lexington Theatre Company did not disappoint!!
This production of A Little Mermaid was one of the best I've ever seen.
The show was incredible! What talented performers, musicians, and everyone involved in putting this show on the stage! We loved it and it was clear by the thunderous applause that so did the rest of the audience. Thank you for a night of professional theatre. You brought great joy to the young ones right up to the older adults and we are still singing along that fabulous music.
Fabulous singing! Awesome music! Excellent dancing! Great theater! An outstanding show!!
Could have started earlier as there were mostly young kids attending. Sound sometimes off. But otherwise very well produced and visually appealing for 5 year old.
Performers were excellent. However, we were seated in the first row of the orchestra and the decorative wave scenery placed at the very edge of the stage made it impossible to see any performing that occurred towards the back of the stage. Most people who were seated in that first row along with my husband and I left in the middle of the first act and the rest didn't return to their seats after the intermission. The row was primarily occupied by little children who couldn't see a thing, so they moved. We purposely chose those seats because my husband has back and knee problems and needed the extra leg room that the first row provided. I am not sure what the purpose was of placing the decorative waves at the edge of the stage but it clearly was a big mistake for the audience in that first row. Just wanted to make you aware, so that perhaps next time we will be able to enjoy the whole performance.
It was very nice performance. We enjoyed taking our grand daughter. There were some issue with the mic's and sound. But overall a very nice performance.
The children in the Catco Jr. children’s theater troupe did an amazing job with this production. They gave it their all and we smiled through the entire performance. All the kids we had with us in our group loved the show.
Such talent!! My favorite character was Sebastian but the entire cast was fantastic!
For start to finish the show captured my full attention and made me believe I was under the sea with Ariel. It was just as beautiful on stage than in the movie.
