Disney Junior Dance Party on Tour

If you ever find yourself in a house where children younger than 8 reside, there's a pretty good chance you'll find a TV locked onto Disney Junior. Since 2012, this offshoot of the Disney Channel empire has provided young kids with a station to call their own, presenting a slate of beloved animated shows that have introduced children to a whole new generation of diverse cartoon characters.

Among its most popular creations are the pint-sized superheroes of PJ Masks, the Latina teenage princess protagonist of Eleanor of Avalor, and the toy-fixing heroine Doc McStuffins. With a stacked lineup like that, it can be awfully difficult to peel the kids away from the TV set and encourage them to go outside for some physical activity. But there's an opportunity for the kids to enjoy all their favorite Disney Junior characters and get some exercise at the same time.

Disney Junior Dance Party is a touring stage show that brings the channel's animated icons to life through a series of musical numbers that encourage audience interaction and movement. Your enthusiastic hosts Dee and Jay lead a revue that features all your Disney Junior favorites — including Puppy Dog Pals, Fancy Nancy, Sofia the First, and the Ghoul Girls rock band from Vampirina — in elaborate set pieces that incorporate animation, large dance troupes, awesome costumes, and copious amounts of confetti.

On top of providing a dramatic visual backdrop to the various live routines, the set's trio of large circular screens — arranged to evoke Mickey Mouse's face and famous big ears — also play host to video vignettes starring Muppet Babies and The Lion Guard. But while the performance may showcase Disney's newer cartoon franchises, you can also expect appearances from classic characters like Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy, decked out in the racing gear from their Disney Junior show Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

Just a long commercial for all the Disney Junior Shows on TV which kids can dance along to. Ages 2-6max!

They should let you know beforehand...

by RSLindyBelle on 3/19/18Fox Performing Arts Center - Riverside

They should explain that the show doesn't exactly start at showtime. In our case, the doors opened at 5:00 and the tickets said the show starts at 6:00. Well... What happens is at 6:00, they start showing Disney Junior shows opening credits/songs, with commercials in between. At 6:15, two DJs come out and do a warm up routine with a countdown clock to 6:30 but they bail after 5 minutes and more commercials. They come back out at 6:30. We didn't actually get to see a Disney Junior character until 6:35. That being said, the show itself if FANTASTIC. Really, it is. The characters, the music, the dancing, performers = EXCELLENT, Disney quality, 60 minutes of awesomeness. But the sad part is by this time, the kiddos are restless and checking out before the show is done (they had been at their seats for 45 minutes, waiting for the show to begin). Seriously, we would have been happier and more excited about the show if they had started at 6:00 and it was only an hour long. Or if we had been warned ;-)

Great show for the little ones!!

by Crisluvsdarien on 3/19/18Fox Performing Arts Center - Riverside

The kids will enjoy all their favorite songs and characters as they sing along with them to the music. Beginning is a little slow before the characters actually come out.

    Dance dance dance

by Krissar718 on 3/19/18Fox Performing Arts Center - Riverside

I took my 8 and 3 year old girls to the show. They had fun. The only down side I think is it's only an hour. The kids loved the dancing and songs. Wished it was a little longer.

    Disappointment

by MamaBear619 on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

We are a Disney family and my children are all under the age of 7. This event seemed perfect. Instead we spent the first 15 minutes watching a movie screen play ads for Disney Junior. When the actors finally came out a 15 minute countdown started for “the party.” At this point, the kids were restless and watching a big TV was not cutting it. The advertisements made it like the Disney Junior characters would be in costume for the entire hour. This was not the case. Only a few made an actual 3-4 minute appearance. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Elena, Doc McStuffins, and Sophia briefly came to the party and they all came back for the ending. The kids didn’t know the difference but it was a lot of money that I would have rather spent at Disney.

Such a blast for parents and kids!

by Bcompton on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Sincerely my husband was deployed and our daughter was having a rough time with it, we decided to splurge on getting VIP tickets with the afternoon tea party prior to the show. Both are such a blast! The food at the Grant Hotel was phenomenal and the kids had fun meeting some of the Disney characters (Sofia, Minnie, & Elena) and playing games with the DJ. The only negatives I saw was there wasn’t enough food for everyone (the sandwiches ran out first). I would have like do to see more variety of food offered considering there were about 10 different drink choices. The other thing was the Disney characters that showed up we’re female and you could tell the boys that were at the tea party weren’t too excited about it. As far as the dance party... it was epic! D and J were spectacular hosts and the other dancers were also incredible. The show was really interactive the entire time. I love how most kids wanted to dance in the aisleway during each song. I also loved how one dancer would come out with a video camera to put on the big screen on stage. It was a truly unique experience and I hope to do this again with my kid and husband. One small negative was the show was supposed to start at 6pm, but at that time they lowered the big screen and played Disney Junior commercials (the same ones you see on tv inbetween shows) for 15 minutes before the hosts came out. If they did that because they were running behind, then I understand that (a lot of kids were getting antsy by that point), but if that was just part of the show, then I’m disappointed. Also, one last negative in my personal opinion was the Vampirina character hardly looked like her. I think the biggest problem was her “batwing hair”. It looked completely fake and rubbery from where we were sitting (11 rows from the stage). And I only say this bc the other characters looked spot on compared to her. Plus my daughter had to ask me who she was when she came out playing her “spook-alele” which should have been a dead giveaway for her. But seriously, those things are minor for the overall show. They made it magical, interactive, and fun for the parents too.

    Grand Daughter Birthday Celebration

by PLGAL on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Balboa Theatre was to open at 5pm, stated on tickets, email notification & even a phone call....didn’t happen! You have a long line of toddlers w/parents standing outside amoung homeless-not too safe. The show was good, a lot of video vs. real character appearances. The after party was well done, but we were not told until the day before event that it was being held at a different location than where the show was held.

    Overpriced, Disappointing

by MominSsnDiego on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Show started 40 mins late. Lots of movie/animation vs live characters. Cheesy hosts (called the “DJs”). My 4 yr old was bored.

    First time, last time.

by AlexConcert2 on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

The event, once started, was not awful. However, it was advertised as starting at 6pm and while I understand a bit of lag time with any production, the first character didn’t come out until 6:38pm!!! What? The key demographic here is clearly toddlers/littles that watch Disney Junior and it seemed insane to me that they wouldn’t start the show closer to the advertised start time OR at least announce anywhere prior that it doesn’t actually start until approx 40 min past the stated time. We arrived at 6. and then waited through DIsney commercials they show on TV, and then finally had people come out and start a 15 minute countdown. Even then after it had “started” we were subject to two characters (D&J) that we had no affinity for who appeared to be stalling for time but I fear that was actually part of the show. Lame. Also, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy were there as part of the Roadster Racers, but not Daisy or Donald. Why??? Can Disney really not send two additional costumes on the road for this show? Or add two additional cast members? While my daughter loved hearing the songs from the shows she watches, it was not a “dance” nor a “party”. We were in the nosebleeds at $36/ticket and I honestly wouldn’t have paid more than $10 if I’d known what this show would be. I’d see it for free at Disney though if it didn’t include almost 40 minutes of “preview/countdown” My daughter is young so we have a lot of Disney in our future I’m sure, but I’m going to stick to the high quality productions from now on at Disneyland or Broadway SD. *or, on me, read others reviews lol

    A fun experience

by Temecula77 on 3/18/18Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Overall this was a fun experience. The after party was a little odd. Not worth the money. But I would but cheaper tickets and do it again. My 5 year old had an amazing time.

    One giant commercial

Little kids liked it, but it completely exploited the Disney brand with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Disney Junior And the cutest Dance Party Ever

by Symone21 on 3/14/18The Orpheum - Los Angeles

I went with my bestfriend and her two little girls and they absolutely loved it. The production was amazing. It’s super interactive, kids learn dance moves, are able to go to the front of the venue and dance, and are able to be featured on the big screen. I highly reccommend attending this event, kids love it and its fun for adults.

    Unforgettable

by Extremelyblownaway on 3/13/18Orpheum Theater - Los Angeles

The Disney Jr Dance Party was nothing short of amazing. The tour DJ's (Dee and Jay) had the kids attention from the start to finish. I love how this felt like a concert as well. My daughter was so engaged she never sat down. This is well worth the money and honestly one of the best kids shows I've ever seen. Bravo!!!
