It was a great experience and a fun show. My wife and me had a wonderful time.
We were looking forward to the show and reminiscing the disco era. The Tramps were ok, sadly their age was very apparent. The Village People were a lot of fun and still put on a great show. Deserving of the encore. Gloria Gaynor was terrible. After a couple of songs the arena started to empty out and at the end of the show there was no extended applause for her encore and the announcer had to beg the audience to bring her back. While she still had a voice, the show fell flat.
Had a blast..Great performers...had us dancing in the Isles
Actually dissapointed at all three of the performances. Looks like a bunch of "has beens" that lost more than just youth. Understood they are old, but could've seen/heard their songs better done in a local karaoke bar. btw...saw earth, wind, and fire last year in NYC, bad they were just as good as the old days.
The performance was great. Can't wait for them to come back next year!
Loved how they made a dance floor for everyone to dance instead of people standing in front of you getting their groove on. Very friendly atmosphere. Hoping they come back next year and more people come to this event. Thanks again. Had a wonderful time. Keep them coming.
This event was the worst event I've ever has the displeasure of attending. The organization was poor to sat the least. The performers were fair.
I can't believe they did not at least hire a house band to back up the acts that had no musicians. There are even plenty of great local musicians who could have performed background music for these acts. Some performers even sang to tracks that faded out like the old 45 records back in the day. GQ was by far the best act because they had a real band and sounded great. Tavares had a band with a horn section but by the time they went on many people had already bailed out.T hey went on late due to technical problems with the keyboard which led me to believe they were limited in sound tech professionals.Taste of Honey bass player had great showmanship but it was weird hearing the bass play along with pre- recorded tracks. She could have used a live drummer. The MC Denny Terrio from Dance Fever was a joke .His No class gyration dancing with himself to kill time was sick and out of place and a disgrace to Providence night life. There was a 12 year old classical guitar player Noah who performed first. He had a 2 guitar duo that was very entertaining because it was real music. The acts like Evelyn King ,Rolls Royce and the Tramps would have been so much better if they had real accompaniment.Although I have to say The tramps at least had a keyboard player to boost their performance. I have seen all these groups before with musicians and they are normally great. All it would have took was for Manfredi to get some union musicians who read music or a great new England dance band to back up all the acts and the show would have moved along quicker without all the dead spots.D-train was a no show and there was no explanation given.I have been to many concerts through out my life and this was by far the most disorganized.Tickets should have been general admission and not more that 30 bucks for a show of this nature. You should not get 1 hundred bucks for acts that are lip singing or singing to tracks .
For starters, it started 1 hour late. (Unprofessional) The event starts with a 12 year old boy who played the guitar & sang. (He was talented) I came to see a live disco show, so not sure why he was there. Them the Promoter came out to apoligize for being late & how great the show will be. Never in my dreams did I imagine such a low budget event with the best evelyn champagne king coming on the stage around 10:30- 11 pm. I slept thru most of it, but never did hear if Tavares made it on. Honestly, I was so dissapointed, with only 1300 seats sold I guess I know why. I also heard from lots of people around me getting comped tickets and being invited to an after show. Not only did I pay face value $50 for the ticket plus shipping & handling anoth $12. I was never invited to the after show, whenever that even was? Th conclude, I am sad to have been excited for something that turned out to be a flop!
This has to be one of the most poorly organized events that i have ever been to. The sound guy was terrible! Microphones kept going in and out, reverb on instruments, etc. The time between acts was horrible. Joe Manfredi liked the spotlight so much that he had to be in it after every singer. Tell me also, why did his son have to do a "break dance" onstage in the middle of "Disco Nights"? I did not pay to see that, and worse, it wasted time, so that at the end the best 2 acts of the night- Evelyn Champagne King and Tavares were RUSHED, and not even able to perform their whole set! I paid a lot of money for my tickets especially to see these last 2 acts, and they were rushed off the stage. I will never go to an even sponsored by Manfredi again!
great time..nice to hear all the old disco....great to see old friends.........
Very unorganized. Had to wait about 10 minutes or more for the last act witch was Tavares. Where were they?????? As far as the singers they were good, just the organization was not there. Wouldn't go back..........................................
The show took to long to come on they were lip signing too much money for lip signing the ticket's should have all been one price.
This show was truly a BLAST from the PAST!!! I loved the artists and hosts!
Overall it was a really enjoyable night. The fact that it took Tavares so long to come on stage was sooooo annoying.(especially since the girls from a Taste of Honey had to cut their act short!!!) Also, Mr. Manfredi made it quite obvious that he loves to hear himself talk and that being the case, perhaps he should take a refresher course on proper grammar! The last thing was that perhaps it should have been made known that most of the acts would be performing to records....oh yes I almost forgot the fact that the tickets said 7:30 start and it was almost an hour later before anything happened!
the show was very disappointing. We left before the show was over. We feel we were robbed and misrepresented. no stage presence. no live acts, lousy commentator.....very disappointing!!
Alot of Great artist from the past!! It got alittle disorganized but overall my wife and i had a good time.
This was perhaps the most DISORGANIZED and unprofessional event I have ever attended. Not only did the concert start an hour late, the sound system and microphones did not work properly. We had a difficult time hearing the singers and the emcees. Joe Manfredi kept stalling for time between acts, and we had to suffer through his son's dance routine. While the kid did a nice job, this is not a middle school talent show and he had no place at this venue. On the plus side, Danny Terrio and all of the acts were top notch. It was amazing to see so many talented performers at one time! If this concert had been better produced, it would have been AMAZING!
A major disappointment. Pre-show included a 12 year old guitar player and his teacher and the 12 year old was dressed in a Michael Jackson coat. I was there for disco - NOT to review an elementary school child Then there was the once famous dance instructor in his 60's doing everything but a pole dance - save that routine for your nursing home. Lastly, I knew I was really screwed when some dance contestant winner had the stage and come to find out he's the producer's son - please dad how pathetic
Not happy at all. Very disappointed. In between singers there were long delays. The last group Tavares took so long to come out people were leaving before they started to sing. I couldn't understand the announcer. Danny Terrino was out there wasting time dancing by himself. I would never go again and told everyone my experience. For the money I spent I regret it. Didn't have te Disco ball lit.
