Dirty Three were bombastic and transcendent
by Paddyf on 9/24/12Brighton Music Hall - BostonRating: 5 out of 5The very tight musicianship of this instrumental trio delivers music alternating between the feeling of floating on the ocean, with the waves gently lapping, metal cables creaking and straining, big crates thumping below decks, with birds and/or whales singing along. The next song can make you sound like your trapped in an overheating jumbo jet engine with a backbeat, and there's melody buried in there too. So if alternating between beautiful, moody music that you could imagine sweeping across prairie landscapes, or oceanscapes, or enjoying the sound painting of feeling like your in the basement of a collapsing apartment building during an earthquake is your thing, this is the band for you!
Dirty Three
by BananaBagandBodice on 9/14/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKRating: 5 out of 5Really fantastic show. One of those bands your proud to witness live. Gorgeous.
Air Kicks!
by MaxK on 9/14/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKRating: 5 out of 5Having just seen Dirty Three at All Tomorrow's Parties last Friday, I was prepared for another amazing show at the Bowery Ballroom last night. Warren Ellis and co. did not disappoint. Jim White's drumming was absolutely fantastic as always, and Warren was certainly in high spirits, which gave the show an energy that permeated the entire crowd and made it a truly unforgettable night.
dirty 3/ 09/09
by veracat on 9/14/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKRating: 5 out of 5I really think it was the best show I've ever seen. The sound tech was genius. Dirty three, Nick Cave special guest...awesome.
Dirty Three is brilliant
by InChelsea on 9/14/09Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKRating: 4 out of 5I've loved this band for over a decade but had never heard them live before. They're even better live. Also this venue is perfect for this group. It was a trippy, beautiful, goregous night.
