DIRTY LOOPS IN CONCERT:
It's hard to tell who has the most fun at a Dirty Loops concert. Is it the crowd, treated to a groovy set brimming with uniquely arranged pop fusion jams? Or is it the trio onstage, serving up a delicious cocktail of jazz and pop blended with '70s and '80s R&B funk? It's a toss-up, as the Swedish collective ensures their live performances are joyous and unforgettable experiences for everyone. Stellar musicianship takes center stage at the band's shows, which feature drummer Aron Mellergardh's powerhouse percussion skills alongside bassist Henrik Linder's slick bass lines. Helming the show is frontman Jonah Nilsson, whose piercing falsetto and huge range recall legends like Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield. The top-notch production and polished arrangements of their recorded songs translate beautifully to the stage, and Dirty Loops continue to stun ticket buyers with note-perfect performances on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bassist Henrik Linder, drummer Aron Mellergardh, and vocalist/keyboardist Jonah Nilsson formed Dirty Loops in 2008 while attending the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden. The trio's big break came when their version of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" racked up a whopping 100,000 views on YouTube in just two months. They followed it up with creative covers of pop songs by Justin Bieber, Adele, Rihanna, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake. The viral videos caught the attention of Swedish producer/songwriter Andreas Carlsson, who promptly signed them to a management deal. Producer/songwriter David Foster then signed the group to Universal Music subsidiary Verve Records and brought them on his 2012 Asian tour. The band released their debut album Loopified in 2014, which boasts two covers and 10 original tracks including standout single "Hit Me". Their 2014-2015 Loopified tour is taking them through Europe, the U.S., and Asia, delivering their energetic shows to crowds all over the world.
...because it exceeded my expectations! Dirty Loops is just as amazing live as they are on their albums. What an amazing show! I cannot wait for the next tour!
Outstanding! Bravissimo!! Dirty Loops are beyond category. The most perfect band that possesses higher levels of musicianship, hipness, funkiness and authenticity us mere mortals cannot fathom. What planet are these cats from? Seriously inspiring to see so many folks/musicians at this show from all walks of life & musical tastes supporting Dirty Loops and singing along to their incredible riffs/licks! These guys pulled it off LIVE!. Sounded just as phenomenal as the recordings if not better in concertđ¤đź. Hopefully a live album to come? You canât help but love these cats âđź such an otherworldly-authentic-hip-virtuosic vibe. Inspired me to immediately go home and practice my bass until the wee hoursđ
The pros: DIRTY LOOPS WERE AMAZING! The employees at The Loft were all wonderful. The cons: WHY did they have a DJ playing monotonous dance music for an hour delaying the start time of a band of real musicians the crowd came to see & hear? It was not advertised, and we wouldn't have gotten there as early as we did if we knew we'd have to wait until after 9pm. For older, or height challenged folks, it's a real drag there is no seating available other than where you can't see the band and the stage is not high enough for those in the back to see.
What can I say about the Dirty Loops? All praises pale in comparison with the band. They are the ultimate musiciansâ musicians of today. They are an absolute inspiration to legions of people who play music around the world. Seeing them in a concert is an honor and an utter joy of listening to enticing music, to an utmost musicianship and of witnessing of what true greatness is about. Diving into multiple styles to draw ideas and convert them into dazzling array of notes and sounds - thatâs what the concert was about. It leaves a lasting impression on anyone who understands and loves music with all its intricacies. Thank you, Dirty Loops for showing us that the music is not dead⌠we just need to work harder yo uncover the beauty of it.
Iâve been a DL fan for a number of years, and have been patiently waiting for them to return to the US, since I missed them the first time they were here in 2014. I bought the VIP package cause I figured it was a once in a lifetime chance, but after this performance, Iâm more excited to see them again! The people at HOB Chicago were really nice, and the DL team were really cool as well! As for the show⌠it was amazing. Knowing that this show was midway through their tour, I was expecting a solid show, but maybe a little fatigue showing in their performance. Fortunately, they came out firing on all cylinders⌠and the mix of high energy music with appropriate breaks in the action was really well executed. They played for a solid 90 minutes, then only took a 2 minute break before coming back out to do their 3 song encore. Total show time was an hour and 45 minutes, and the crowd was engaged the whole time. Bottom line- theyâre still in North America for a couple more weeks⌠if theyâre coming close to you (and by close, I mean within a 3-4 hour drive), go. They are worth every dollar you spend.
Dirtly Loops is one of the best live bands we have ever seen. Every single member is at the very top of his game and they deserved a much better venue than the LOFT. They delivered a masterful performance filled with energy and joy...highly recommend!
This band has always blown my mind when listening over streaming and Iâve used their music for live events when I run audio! Their music is energetic, fun, complex and builds anticipation for what comes next! Dirty Loops was happy to stay and meet everyone at the merch table even at a sold out show! Somehow this incredible band is even tighter musically live than on the records. The Vocals had range that made the audience gasp! Bass lines that melt the mind and the ears! The drums played with such mathematical precision and tonality that the audience was multiple times thrown backwards in awe! Incredible band, incredible show! 10/10 would go again!
Was everything I thought it would be and more. Took a little long to come out and the crowd was getting restless with e DJ (he was great too BTW) but they definitely were with the wait. Glad I seen them this time since the last time they were in Atlanta was 10 years ago.
Dirty Loops sounded phenomenalâŚhowever, I never saw them because I was standing near the sound booth and couldnât see over the people in front of me. The Loft is the worst venue Iâve ever been to!!! Standing only and packed in like sardinesâŚwe arrived 45 before show and show started an hour lateâŚso thatâs standing in one place for over an 1.75 hrs BEFORE the show even started!! I really wouldâve loved to have SEEN the band that I was hearing as they are probably my favorite band right now. I will NEVER go back to that venue. To make it even worse, the bathrooms are located near the stage, so everyone has to push their way all the way through the crowd to access them.
Excellent group with a lot of skill and natural talent. Jonah, (vocalist) has one of the most incredible voices Iâve ever heard easily matching or surpassing Steve Perry, Dino Jelusick, and many other talented vocalists. Henrik is a gifted base player with a lot of natural talent and earned skill. And Aron is no slouch on the drums, very creative, skilled, and energetic at his art. All together they are a very talented group putting out different and unique music that is hard to find nowadays. Very down to earth and polite people as well, talking to them after the show was very personal and not a case of we are better than you. Henrik said that he recognized my mom from the front row during our brief conversation showing that they engage with and pay attention to the audience. If you have the chance to see them I would highly recommend doing so as you will struggle to find a more talented group of musicians and artists.
Dirty Loops is the truth. Sounded better than the album. Their musicianship is out of this world!! Really enjoyed myself and definitely inspired as a musician!!
The show was amazing! Intimate venue, fantastic sound, and the best musicians and vocalist in the game right now all on the same stage. They should be doing arena tours! Just my opinion
Iâve always wanted to see Dirty Loops, and they delivered every song perfectly! Their performance was exactly what I expected and more! I loved the experience of getting to watch them, being able to meet them, and get a shirt signed by them too! If they had another concert near me, I would definitely buy a ticket in a heartbeat and watch them again!
Only one point negative, the show delated. it was about 7p.m
I saw the Loops in Philadelphia at the Brooklyn Bowl. I had a standing-tier view but could see 90 percent of their amazing performance! Such mastery. vocal prowess and musical talent! Great lighting and sound and the staff was personable and friendly!
Great show as always, of course it was, it was Dirty Loops. The venue is welcoming in that every single staff member was really polite, professional and treated all patrons with respect unlike some venues that hire meatheads for bouncers. The sound in the room was super boomy on the low end, so much so that it totally drowned the keyboards and most of the vocals. Anything in the mid register between like 800hz to 2000khz was non existent. Their keyboardist could have left the stage and no one would have missed him. Very disappointing. Finally, bowling lanes are still open during the show and it totally sounded like a bowling alley and super distracting during quiet moments. I know that this is an alley, but then it has no business being a venue as well.
I understand that everybody plays with backing tracks, but I think they probably shouldâve put his vocals in the box because he was horse. He got it together after the third song but you can tell they were extremely tired from the back to back shows and traveling on the road, Iâd probably like to see him after theyâve been in the states for a while and gotten some rest. I still support them. I still love the band just get some rest guides if you can, I guarantee you your show will be 100%. Iâve been following you since 2013 I believe in you thanks for coming to town guys traveling mercy.
They're incredibly good singers, clealry having fun and staying down-to-earth, which made it so much more enjoyable. They had a free signing after the show even though it was late, which was so cool. They were so, so nice even though I know they were tired (I'm a performer and I pass tf out after performances). Would recommend for anyone, but especially those who are musically inclined <3
I was really impressed with the musicianship of Dirty Loops. First time I heard of them was last year when I saw a video with Cory Wong. Checked them out on You Tube and figured I would give it a shot. Henrik Linder is an amazing player as is the rest of the band. Would definitely go see them again.
DL are the most amazing band in the world The show was insanely good. They interacted with us and the musicianship was off the charts. If they are coming to your city ! Do not miss them Hope the return to Boston again soon.
