About

Dirty Heads are a reggae rock band from Huntington Beach, California. Consisting of lead vocalists and founders Jared Watson (Dirty J) and Dustin Bushnell (Duddy B), along with percussionist Jon Olazabal, drummer Matt Ochoa and bassist David Foral, the band was formed in 2001 and immediately evoked the spirit of bonfire barbeques and summer road trips. Dirty Heads’ appeal is rooted in the infectious reggae grooves of songs like 2017’s “Vacation,” which became a viral hit in 2021 as the sound behind the #VacationTransition trend on TikTok. The band’s breakthrough hit was another “song of the summer” contender: “Lay Me Down” (feat. Rome of Sublime with Rome), which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Rock Songs charts. In 2021, the band released The Best of Dirty Heads, a compilation album featuring Travis Barker, Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters, Matisyahu, Train, Tech N9ne and Rome. Dirty Heads have hit the road with artists such as 311, O.A.R., Gym Class Heroes and Lupe Fiasco, and more.

  • Dirty Heads most amazing show I've seen!

by Paljr on 11/2/14Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 5 out of 5

From the VIP meet and greet all the way to through the opening bands and onto the Dirty Heads, hands down the best show I've seen in the 30+ years of seeing live music!

  • Dirty Heads killed it!!

    by awinsto5 on 10/31/14The Bluebird - BloomingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Dirty Heads killed it, and it was awesome to see them play their song with Rome as it was recorded! Tiny venue, sort of strange configuration. Dirty J was a little under the weather, but he pushed through and did a great job!

  • DIRTY HEADS WHERE AWESOME!

    by Wolflover13 on 10/16/14The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This venue is a vintage theater that is simply beautiful. From the great enrty room, to the theater room you will see original restored architecture and beverage stations aplenty. I recommend this venue. Along with that, the Dirty Heads put on a great proformance and the line up of guests was perfectly matched to thier sound. I've seen the Dirty Heads 4 times and this was by far the best becuase the HEADLINED!!! To get that much live music from them was awesome!!!

  • I love getting lost...

by LoverOfLiveMusic5 on 9/28/14Blue Hills Bank Pavilion - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

...in a sea of great music and good people. The night could not have beem more perfect with the sun setting behind the Pavilion as Pepper riled up the crowd with their high energy and on point performance. The audience became one as we all danced and sand along to one of our favorite bands... The Dirty Heads kept the energy going with a stage full of talented musicians rapping and jumping and jamming out to a 20 song set list. Great sound, high energy, and unorgettable. Have you ever gotten on a ride that you wish would never end? Yea...this was that ride.

  • LOVED IT!

by Kissa1021 on 9/1/14Mandalay Bay Beach - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Pepper was cool, but The Dirty Heads were the best! This was mine and my boyfriends first concert ever and we were so excited that The Dirty Heads would be our first. I've never fangirled in my life until that night lol We litterally listen to you guys on the daily and when I found out you were coming to vegas I bought tickets like right away. The only sucky part was all the cigarette smoke, i'm allergic so I felt sick after that and my allergies kicked my butt for a week but honestly it was worth it :D Oh and there were soooooo many drunk girls falling on me xD I would LOVE to see you guys again! Bring towels and blankets because it's beach themed and you will get wet! I so wasn't prepared but next time I will.

  • Dirty Heads is a local must see!!!

    by Wolflover13 on 8/25/14RIMAC Arena - UCSD - La JollaRating: 3 out of 5

The show itself was AWESOME! I would have rated it 5 stars but one major thing was missing. I did not receive my email for the VIP event portion, & so I didn't get to meet the band, or get my merch. I'm hoping Ground CRTL gets me compensated with sending me merch or a make up VIP session.

by pepperprincess on 8/13/14Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

Start to finish I was on my feet dancing and enjoying every second of my evening with the fine boys of pepper. I did the VIP meet n greet, best decision I've ever made. The venue is fairly new so everything was pristine. Staff was over the top helpful. I can't wait to see them again!!

  • Dirty Heads & Pepper MURDERED their sets!

by rmarcos88 on 8/13/14Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso RoblesRating: 5 out of 5

Aer, a Boston based band, opened and brought some energy to to incoming crowd. I was surprised when Aer pulled out a cover of the Isley Brothers "Shout". Pepper hit the stage with my favorite Summer song from last year, "FKARND", which set the mood for their set. They had all the ladies dancing in the amphitheater and their commentary during their set was hilarious. At one point their was a chick that took off her top revealing a bikini and Pepper stopped and I believe Bret said, "Wait a minute is that a girl in a bikini? Fuck yeah!" Funniest thing though, they start singing the first line of MAGIC!'s song "Rude" and then stop and say, "Nah we're not gonna play that, you don't need radio or MTV, all you need is fans like you!" Once the Dirty Heads took the stage it was pretty dark, even though their was a super moon. Dirty Heads had a good mix of old songs and new songs of their album "Sound of Change". Couple of my favorites they played: "Lay me Down", "Stand Tall", "Medusa", "My Sweet Summer", "Franco Eyed".
